I also had Smith in a parlay
he was up 5 to zero on the cards
then the Molina fight got exciting and I turned off Showtime
I turn back and Smith has a swollen eye, looks battered, and the ref stops the fight

not sure what happened in a few rounds
but clearly, if this cat can't beat Tyner, Mike Jones would have KILLED him
Tyner stinks

So glad to see Lundy lose
he talked shit all week long
dude has some skill, but is a complete front runner and a mayweather wannabe
a big win for molina and well deserved
he fought hard till the end, even with lundy's bullshit antics (complaining after the knockdown like byrd vs. ibeabuchi, holding the ropes to keep from going down again)

Sweet underdog hit
but Antwone Smith...wow....just wow......

Referee Randy Newman really blows it
Mike Jones hits Garcia square in the nuts, ref counts to 10
too old a ref.....shouldn't be allowed to ref a televised fight
terrible
Jones KO 5

Tarver was right on top of it
I hated him as a fighter, but Tarver is a GREAT announcer
this decision should be over turned to a NO CONTEST
that was a the clearest low blow ever

I just can't believe Smith got ko'd. Fuk! I sensed some arrognace from Antwone before the fight, but I thought the gulf in talent would be too much too overcome. Geez, sucks to lose big on a big fav. I didn't see the fight. What the hell happened? Anyone see the rounds that the fight changed? Judged that one dead wrong. My apologies.

Too be honest, I thought we got lucky on Molina as well. He was getting outclassed for much of the fight and was all set to lose. Could have been a very dark weekend.

No celebrating here. Got to regroup. Let's see what tomorrow brings.

Tyner fought @ a good measured pace. Smith was winning the early going but Tyner was right in there and Smith knew he was in a fight. Tyner landed some very good body shots that payed dividends. Not sure what happened with the eye swelling but by the 8th rd, Smiths eye was nearly shut and it was obvious he was wilting under the pressure. Not sure what the cards read but had Smith been able to go the dst, he probably still would have lost. During the fight they made it known that Smith was battling a virus. Biggest one fight loss for me in a year :scared. Big chalk will bite you in the ass if you play it long enough...no worries here...having a great yr. Live and learn. Molina and the Daws over lessoned the pain a little bit.

We were damn lucky w/Molina. He was getting his clock cleaned. Lundy turned into an ass clown in rd8 and got drilled with a wide wild right. I don't think he fully recovered from it. The stoppage wasn't bad. He was 1 shot away from going to the hospital. He didn't have the wherewithall to complain until he had a few minutes to recover.

Bad Bad call for Newman...he totally blew it. Jones was coming on though and I think he would have gotten Garcia out of there. Garcia walked to his corner slowly after the 4th and Jones was teeing off on him b4 the low shot.

Better luck tomorrow Gents!

Thanks Romi

Yup, gonna just dust this one off. Sucks that I had Smith in some parlays as well, and I don't see anyway out of a minus for this week, but my numbers look great so far for the year as well.

Smith battling a virus? WTF! Wish I knew that before the fight. Sounds like that's what happened. He got tired and that was it.

Molina saved what could have been a disasterous weekend, and I gotta be thankful for that. I'm gonna go just a bit more on the Donaire under. Just a bit though, no need to chase too much. :nono:

"Interesting" results!

William or his corner quits in a fight that seems winnable for him.

Molina upsets Lundy.

Garcia gets knocked out by a low blow!

And, of course, Smith gets stopped by Tyner!! :scared
What an upset!!! Tyner is very ordinary! Now, Smith says that he was sick all week! I dont know what to make out of that...but it has happened before...

lopez_y_concepcion2.jpg

Appearances can be deceiving but he looks rugged as hell. Perhaps he's on the Alex Arizza program. hmmm.

JuanMa is talented but he brawls and gets hit. Bernabe is strong and rugged. In truth, JaunMa has never faced anyone this rugged. Could be a tough night. The way the odds inflated on Lopez, Bernabe geting no respect. After looking at things, I'd say he's a bit live.

Not only does he look rugged, he looks big as hell.
He is supposed to have a 3 inch height disadvantage, but it certainly doesnt look like that.

Concepcion looks the bigger man here.

Juanma has only fought at that weight once, when he stopped luevano...now that looks like a very good result, since Concepcion struggled with Luevano and ultimatley lost, but you have got to keep in mind that Luevany was knocked out cold in this fight (even though it was by an illegal blow), and this can have a serious impact on a fighter....

Concepcion might not have the stamina to get a win here, but the odds really look a bit inflated!

either boxrec is wrong again,or that photo is just plain misleading.....records indicate that juanma has a 3 inch height and reach advantage....

on eastside there is a pic where you can see that Concepcion is wearing slippers.
but either way, I would say, its maybe an inch or so, but certainly not 3 inches...

Smith was proclaiming himself to be the best inside fighter since James Toney :scared . Tyner fought on better than even terms on the inside. Smith should have been using his ht, reach and angles. Instead he chose to stay inside and he got beat up. When fighters make comments that are out of touch with reality then we need to question just how good they really are. I also wish we knew about this fvcking virus. Angulo/Cintron all over again.

Molina fortunate the fight wasn't 10 rounds. Man, dude is slow, doesn't go to body enough but he's like cyborg, he'll slowly keep going forward. He does his best work with a stationary target with their back to the ropes.
He seems like a funny dude.

Poor Smith. I imagine he was really hindered by the virus he had. Big Lou probably said to take it, believing he'd win anyway. Not too bright. Bit of a red flag was there when he tipped in at 145.

He looked way off his best and was laboring badly. The Smith that beat Guitierez would have won widely. We've all been under the weather when anything could knock you down. But you don't fight strong ass hungry fighters in that Condition.

Is Freddie Roach with Bernabe Concepcion??? I don't think Concepcion has any real size advantage here, sure he's shorter, slighty wider frame, he's gonna have to get inside and unload those bombs, hoping one lands..
