i`ll take my lumps on the rahman call.....the guy is as inconsistent as they come....and has utterly pathetic cardio.....he lost as much due to poor cardio as he did because of a ridiculous gameplan and poor fighting style...
i always bitched about the way ruiz fought rahman......but i was at least partially wrong....it was rahman who initiated much of the holding....
i still can`t understand....why a guy with a stiff,pole-like jab doesn`t use it to set up his big right hand...jab,jab,jab...maskaev could not get out of the way.....bur seldom did a right hand follow.....
and rahman...ALMOST ALWAYS....throws the jab and when he does folllow it, he falls in with the right hand...smothering his own shot....
watch the replay...when he did throw the right hand...which was seldom...he would lunge in,never allowing himself the room to get snap on the shot....
every time...never that long pole jab and give the right hand the room to land with leverage and snap...he was always falling in and smothering his own power shot....
the guy..after all these fights....doesn`t have a clue about distance....
the lennox lewis fight was obviously a fluke...
and rahman was exhausted by the 9th...
thankfully i had the hedge....still,it`s ambarrassing that i missed the obvious chronology of rahman opponents...
guys with skill and at least some quicks(holi,ruiz..yes,ruiz is slick...even old al cole)... give this sloth trouble...he`s fine against the tua`s...that big australian...300 pound toney...who would have pummeled rahamn if he`s come into the fight in shape.....
rahman`s a one hit wonder...a peripheral guy....to inconsistent...and basically to ditch-water dumb...to be a real force in the divivsion...
btw....did anybody see the ref breaking rahman and maskaev in the 12th?...when rahman claimed he was hit on the break?....

the most pissed off person after this fight?...had to be toney,seen kicking his own ass for coming into the rahman fight after training with teddy kennedy(pub crawls,etc)....
