Real quiet week, but Simpson and Truscott will finally get it on Friday.

The fight is a month away but I took Poonsawat Keirdkjfjfcjgvofijenhjdjcfiorfjdcndkd over Dunne +110. Dunne fought the fight of his life and IMO above his level v Cordoba. I don't envision a repeat performance. The Dublin crowd will be a huge boost but I see the Thai fighter taking it to him and probably stopping him. If anyone recalls the last go, the announcers ridiculously had Dunne winning the fight (on the cards) but the judges had Cordoba winning convincingly so it appears a foreigner can still take the title over there by dec.

I also couldn't resist Direll +150. Froch is one tough unrelenting Brit but IMO he has some flaws that Direll can expose. I think Direll is better, stronger and faster than JT and I don't expect him to wilt in the champinship rds...if it goes that far.

That Dunne fight was the best fight of the year....but it was also the most ridiculous commentating I have ever heard....biased is not the word...they have to create a new definition in the dictionary for that kind of hometown support...
:mj07:

I want to watch some tape of the Poon-man before throwing down...but I agree...I can't imagine Dunne re-creating that performance....he fought out of his body that night.....

So Ponce De Leon is fighting an eliminator in Panama against a Panamanian?

Yikes...with his style, he better finish the deal inside the distance.....they will screw him over there....

I just watched the first episode of HBO's "Mayweather-Marquez 24/7"

I had to laugh when they approached Floyd and Leonard Ellerby about the IRS and taxes owed....everyone is aware of Mayweather's money issues.....the response from Floyd and Ellerby:

"We don't pay any attention to all that stuff. Floyd lives very comfortably"

:mj07: :mj07: :mj07: :mj07:

Ummmmm.....that's probably the problem.....you HAVE to pay attention to that stuff or you go to jail Floyd....this is America....

Did you all see Floyd's crib. He says everything is paid for. He may want to tone it down bit so he has some dough left over when he retires. How about the contrast of Floyd giving the homeless folks a bag dinner and then quickly showing him at his house bathing in his extreme opulence. Funny stuff.

That is why I'm convinced Floyd will inevitably stick around too long in this game. He doesn't have the power to have great sucess at an advanced age. He's still relatively young but his days at the top are numbered. I'm not even convinced he's the best at 147. He'll never step in with PW and at 154 I think Kirkland would be too strong and relentless. Floyd CAREFULLY chooses his opponents. He's got enough to get by the blown up Marq but Paq (should he beat Cotto) is finally going to provide Floyd with a challenge. I honestly can't stand the classless prick.

Can you imagine Floyd Vs. Kirkland? All Floyd haters would LOVE that fight because all that would be left of Floyd would be some ribs and bare neck bones. He would get eaten alive.

I agree with Freddie Roach in that Floyd is overrated. My dislike of the guy is irrelevant. The prick ridiculed Brian Kenny (who held his own) because Kenny was referring to Pac being the #1 p4p fighter. Floyd makes the claim for himself yet he ducks and dodges the real top dogs.

I agree with you 100% as well. Kirkland would absolutely eat him alive. Floyd will never have the cajones to fight somebody like that.

That's no surprise - he tried to have a guy whacked at the skating rink who wished him a loss.

Absolute, concrete truth - and no one can rationalize the opposite like Floyd.

Floyd; too big/strong/hits harder than JMM/outstanding defence. FM by KO. Otherwise the price SU is too high for my blood. The weight and JMM's age are a hurdle he probably just can't overcome. A slaughter.

"the bunker"
i doubt that anybody with an objective bone in their body can legitimately dispute what the gents(in the panels above) have said about the mayweather clan in this thread....our guys are pretty shrp,imo...

the only one that seems like he lives in the real world is jeff, and it seems as though he`s been excommunicated from the group...

but,in today`s p.c. america, many of you guys would unfairly be called racists...when in truth, you`re just telling it like it is...

that said,i have to take hbo "24/7"to task for playing good cop/bad cop with the two fighters....their initial show blatantly set the tone for their agenda....depicting marquez as the poor family man who struggled to scratch his way out of the ghetto while showing mayweather`s "family time" as sitting around with his father and brother(and the rest of his "posse")playing dice on his beautiful pool table in his oppulent home....

while, imo, there is no disputing that marquez is highly respected while mayweather is pretty much reviled(and with good reason),i`m not thrilled with hbo`s partisan reporting(which is nothing new or shocking as far as american journalism is concerned)....

i`ll be curious to see the remaining hbo 24/7 segments to see if they try and foment the already negative public sentiment against floyd jr and the mayweathers...

as i`ve said on here several times, marquez is probably one or two on my list of alltime respected professional fighters(along with arguello),but i`m just not crazy about blatant media partisanship and manipulation....

in the interest of full disclosure,i have a very lucrative parlay pending on mayweather(the first leg being cristiane "cyborg" santos, another media villain) and it would be another step in the long journey toward making my oscar de la hoya mistake right,so i`m not exactly objective(as far as the gambling aspect is concerned) ...

all that said,i disagree with the majority of the board that thinks that mayweather sucks as a fighter and has always taken the "easy road" in his career...

as he`s stepped up in weight,he hasn`t always fought the toughest of the tough in the higher weight classes..but the same can be said of manny, who has fought pretty much the same guys that mayweather has fought and disposed of (dlh and hatton...of course floyd jr ducked the dreaded david diaz)...manny`s going to fight cotto, but as we all know now, cotto`s aura of invincibility has been shattered...and i`m not so sure that manny wins this...of course i`ve been wrong about manny before..several times..

all that said, a marquez victory over the reprehensible mayweather would leave me with mixed emotions...i`d be poorer, but a part of me would be extremely happy for marquez...

i just really have a problem with hbo`s slanted 24/7 series...it seems that they have a woody for slamming mayweather(though i admit,a good deal of the negativity is warranted)....

it`s understandable, but, they`re supposed to be above the fray...they`re supposed to be sports journalists..of course, they are trying to sell a fight,so i`m really not as indignant or self-righteous as i might sound...

i think what`s really ticking me off is the fact that this ppv falls on the same night as ufc 103...i`m wondering whether you can order 2 ppv`s simultaneoulsy if you have 2 cable boxes with ppv capabilities?...

oh well,no biggie...just one swinging dick`s opinion:shrug: ...rant off.. :00x12 ...

/where`s that f-cking coffee?!?..

I think HBO was just capturing what Mayweather does and who he is. He shoots craps with family and he's arrogant - that's who is is. He didn't have an apple pie family and to try to convey that would be wrong. Actually I thought they were good to Mayweather showing his aid to the homeless. No matter how he basks in his wealth, the help he offered the homeless was genuine and a generous thing. Mayweather certainly is an excellent fighter and he took on the best at 130 and 135 but when he got to 140 and above he became very choosy but he was genius in getting Oscar in the ring as he was the cash cow which set up massive subsequent paydays.

Boxing has evolved into theater/big business and all companies promote their product to sell it. Ain't nothing new. All hype and subterfuge. Trouble is we don't want to believe it. We love to think this is an actual contest and spirited competition. The suits could'nt give a rats rear end about any of this. As long as the staged orchestration brings in a shitload of dough. Bob Arum counts wheelbarrels full of money jumping over the fence instead of sheep. And we buy it all.
