"the bunker"
I think HBO was just capturing what Mayweather does and who he is. He shoots craps with family and he's arrogant - that's who is is. He didn't have an apple pie family and to try to convey that would be wrong. Actually I thought they were good to Mayweather showing his aid to the homeless. No matter how he basks in his wealth, the help he offered the homeless was genuine and a generous thing. Mayweather certainly is an excellent fighter and he took on the best at 130 and 135 but when he got to 140 and above he became very choosy but he was genius in getting Oscar in the ring as he was the cash cow which set up massive subsequent paydays.

good points....

Not next weekend but on the 12th,

Mikkel Kessler vs Gusmyl Perdomo

Fight not to go the distance at around -220, is maybe worth a play...?

Cheers

The fight is a month away but I took Poonsawat Keirdkjfjfcjgvofijenhjdjcfiorfjdcndkd over Dunne +110. Dunne fought the fight of his life and IMO above his level v Cordoba. I don't envision a repeat performance. The Dublin crowd will be a huge boost but I see the Thai fighter taking it to him and probably stopping him. If anyone recalls the last go, the announcers ridiculously had Dunne winning the fight (on the cards) but the judges had Cordoba winning convincingly so it appears a foreigner can still take the title over there by dec.

I also couldn't resist Direll +150. Froch is one tough unrelenting Brit but IMO he has some flaws that Direll can expose. I think Direll is better, stronger and faster than JT and I don't expect him to wilt in the champinship rds...if it goes that far.
Yet again, I am LOVING both those bets Brother. I plan on making them my next 2 Big Boy bets.

I don't think the Caveman will catch Dirrel and I don't think Dunne will ever fight out of his skin like that again!!

i doubt that anybody with an objective bone in their body can legitimately dispute what the gents(in the panels above) have said about the mayweather clan in this thread....our guys are pretty shrp,imo...

the only one that seems like he lives in the real world is jeff, and it seems as though he`s been excommunicated from the group...

but,in today`s p.c. america, many of you guys would unfairly be called racists...when in truth, you`re just telling it like it is...

that said,i have to take hbo "24/7"to task for playing good cop/bad cop with the two fighters....their initial show blatantly set the tone for their agenda....depicting marquez as the poor family man who struggled to scratch his way out of the ghetto while showing mayweather`s "family time" as sitting around with his father and brother(and the rest of his "posse")playing dice on his beautiful pool table in his oppulent home....

while, imo, there is no disputing that marquez is highly respected while mayweather is pretty much reviled(and with good reason),i`m not thrilled with hbo`s partisan reporting(which is nothing new or shocking as far as american journalism is concerned)....

i`ll be curious to see the remaining hbo 24/7 segments to see if they try and foment the already negative public sentiment against floyd jr and the mayweathers...

as i`ve said on here several times, marquez is probably one or two on my list of alltime respected professional fighters(along with arguello),but i`m just not crazy about blatant media partisanship and manipulation....

in the interest of full disclosure,i have a very lucrative parlay pending on mayweather(the first leg being cristiane "cyborg" santos, another media villain) and it would be another step in the long journey toward making my oscar de la hoya mistake right,so i`m not exactly objective(as far as the gambling aspect is concerned) ...

all that said,i disagree with the majority of the board that thinks that mayweather sucks as a fighter and has always taken the "easy road" in his career...

as he`s stepped up in weight,he hasn`t always fought the toughest of the tough in the higher weight classes..but the same can be said of manny, who has fought pretty much the same guys that mayweather has fought and disposed of (dlh and hatton...of course floyd jr ducked the dreaded david diaz)...manny`s going to fight cotto, but as we all know now, cotto`s aura of invincibility has been shattered...and i`m not so sure that manny wins this...of course i`ve been wrong about manny before..several times..

all that said, a marquez victory over the reprehensible mayweather would leave me with mixed emotions...i`d be poorer, but a part of me would be extremely happy for marquez...

i just really have a problem with hbo`s slanted 24/7 series...it seems that they have a woody for slamming mayweather(though i admit,a good deal of the negativity is warranted)....

it`s understandable, but, they`re supposed to be above the fray...they`re supposed to be sports journalists..of course, they are trying to sell a fight,so i`m really not as indignant or self-righteous as i might sound...

i think what`s really ticking me off is the fact that this ppv falls on the same night as ufc 103...i`m wondering whether you can order 2 ppv`s simultaneoulsy if you have 2 cable boxes with ppv capabilities?...

oh well,no biggie...just one swinging dick`s opinion:shrug: ...rant off.. :00x12 ...

/where`s that f-cking coffee?!?..

hello there james joyce

I'm on Froch-135@5Dimes, now -140. I feel Dirrell has feasted on C+/B- level opposition and he will find Froch a significant step up in class. A claimer running in an allowance race. He could win, and will surely represent himself in fine fashion, but if he doesn't put Froch to sleep, I say he does not win. Hate going aganist paulie, but I must.

the thing that worries me about dirrell was the "lost 3 rounds" vs plugger mike paschall.....he did not look good(even though it was only 3 rounds)...

was that an aberration or a portent of bad things to come?...

?Carita? ready for Sonsona
http://www.fightnews.com/?p=21846

http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&opt=printable&id=21892

A Puerto Rican defending against a Philipino in Canada?

I was just thinking the same thing?? Even the matchup itself is a little strange. A very young prospect with just 13 fights against an old vet who finally wins his world title after more than 17 years as a pro. Maybe Lopez is way to hardened, or maybe Sonsona is a phenom? It seems a big and strange risk for both guys. But the fact that it's in Canada just brings it all together.

So who wins it? It'll probably be the best fight of the weekend. Lopez is tough, tough, and determined. I've seen him fight a few times, and he has always impressed. I remember him abusing O.Soto in embarassing fashion a few years ago. Sonsona I have not seen, but reports say he looks pretty damn good, which is what they say about all prospects until they get beat. Perhaps he is a bit special though.

Anyone know anything about the promotion? Are either of fighters house?

Dwyer over at GA just loves Jermain to take Abraham, probably by decision. I'm looking for a parlay to go with Mayweather and that would work very nice. I'm not sold yet though.

Vit Klit -1200:scared. Aereola +700. I think klit will break the kid down over about 7 rds but that line is a bit off. It's disheartening not seeing aereola getting in the best shape to give himself the best possible shot. If he came in half way decent shape, you would have to give him the proverbial punchers chances...perhaps even more than that. Even if Aereola pulled off the miricle, based on what we've seen, this guy isn't going to be around that long...too bad cause he can punch like a mule and he has some fighting heart.

Nightmare worth a play. Vitali needs room to operate and he likes to go at his own pace. Chris will press and he should be in better shape than many think. I thought Vitali looked a touch fatigued and uncomfortable against Juan Carlos - looked a bit old in there. I think Arreola can do better.

I totally agree.
I thought he was shot during first and second round.
Then he got it all together again but I thought like who knows whats gonna happen next time.

hmmm...I agree that the line is a bit inflated, but up to this point, Vitaly has shown excellent stamina, and I'm not so sure if Arreola can push him to the limit, unless he really turns around his training....

i`d be much more inclined to take a pressure fighter like arreola(man, what a horrible f-cking name to go through life with)vs wladdy than vitali.....

i think the pressure,if arreola`s willing to eat the jab, would have a better shot at wilting the "less mentally tough"younger klit....(i know i`ll catch some grief from wlad fans)...

just my opinion...

David Haye was what, +250 against Vitali? Why the hell would Arreola be +700 then? What would be the odds if Arreola fought Haye? Definitely seems off. That said, it's hard to envision Arreola winning, especially if he's not in tip-top shape. I'm really looking forward to this fight.
