Carsy week / weekend... worked out more or less ok for me, given the early win in the week, but
Degale, Cleverly disapointed by neigther winning inside or make it a Draw
Not to forget Lineares, who I just had with a very small amount in 2 parlays, but :scared

Regarding Bhop... I have to watch the fight but it seems to be a close thing to a no contest...

Cheers

Hi Gents,

How did the books reacted to the Bhop fight. Did you win / loss your bets or are they still pending???

5 dimes paid...they were probably happy to (considering all the distance props that went down the tubes)....i`m sure the books were happy as clams...

Thanks for the info weasel, I am jsut asking as most of my books already paid, but one is waiting for the official decision of the boxing commision... :violin:

About time someone got tired of the Hopkins grabbing, throw a punch and hold tactic. Fuck him. He has been doing this crap for years and gotten away with it. Dawson was ready for it and Hopkins got what his hand called for. These PPV's are becoming a joke. Mosley/Pacquaio; Ortiz/Mayweather/and this garbage.

Most books, off shore, and definitely Vegas, pay on the decision AT THE TIME, and do NOT recognize over turned or reversed decisions.

I thought so too, but it seems to be that some books do it diffrently... hmmm thats an important fact to incorporate into where to place bets...

If you think a boxer is going to do BS-tactics, maybe better bet at those books that wait for the official vote of the commision. (unless you bet the BS guy) ;)

I would never bet with a shop that waits for the "official" commission decision. There has to be a hard and fast rule regarding this. A guy could win both ways if that were the case. Get paid based on the immediate decision, and then get paid on an over turned decision. Sure, sounds good, unless, you are the guy that only bet at the shop that pays on the commission decision. Las Vegas made up its collective mind to pay on the call the nite of the fight to avoid controversy. A call could be reversed one day and then reversed AGAIN another day. This is boxing, after all.

it probably depends on which way the action swings for that book,lotl..........that seems odd,and isn`t the norm....but maybe they don`t handle many props and got burned on bhop....

frankie...i was sort of surprised by dawson`s attitude..he seems like a quiet guy...but you could tell he wasn`t intimidated by bhop in the least...matter of fact,he looked like he wanted to crush him..from the stare down to the post fight interview..he looked and acted like the bully in there and wasn`t taking any shit off lampley or kellerman either.....

when a guy with that much raw talent has his head on straight,he`s a tough nut to crack....maybe bhop sensed that?

DeMarco had special night

DeMarco had special night

DeMarco was really amazing. He seemed like he could barely touch Linares in the 1st 5 rounds or so but like Margarito, will keep coming forward, imposing his will. (Those lanky Mexicans are made of quite sturdy stock.) Although it seemed like he wasn't able to close the gap on Linares for a few rounds after he was badly busted up, and seemed to let him off the hook, until he did close it shut in the 11th. Nothing better in boxing when an outclassed underdog can snatch a victory from the jaws of defeat in exciting fashion. In some cases, more to boxing than speed, technique and raw talent. DeMarco showed that last night.

Could any of you imagine DeMarco pulling a Hopkins flop job? Never in a million years.

Thought Kendall Holt had a hideous night. Missed nearly everything he threw and didn't, perhaps couldn't, capitalize on many openings. He really gave it up and was quite discouraged from mid fight on. He couldn't get to Garcia and fought tepidly down the stretch.

he looked older than dewey bozella(and i thought that garcia looked less than scintillating with those wide punches)....and yes, demarco showed some seriously hard bark out there....that got lost in all the insanity....

Totally agree here and this is what I also wanted to say, but you said it for me. Dawson really wanted to bust up Hopkins, IMHO. No way Dawson was looking for a way out. He was just warming up! Ya know, you can push a man just so far, till he snaps. Hopkins tried his crap one too many times, and like Ortiz, he brought this on himself.

Not even sure i know what to say here. I think the blame has to be on Dawson. U have to be smarter in this situation. Sure u can say Hopkins was on his back and u might even be able to say he tried to knee him in the nuts while on the back but Dawson didn't have to launch him. Just push him off and move on and don't get caught up with all the nonsense. Then again he did get the title so maybe what he did was right. This has to be turned into a no contest but what do u do next? Will the two fight again? Hopkins had all the fans on his side before this fight and now gets caught up into something like this. Nobody got ripped off here but the fans and bettors.
The one article say's Hopkins knew it was gonna be a long night and was being manhandled so he pulled this crap. Sounds like a Hopkins hater cause that isn't what i saw the whole five minutes. There really wasn't much action especially round one. What really bugs me is Dawson and his selective fighting. Where the hell was this aggression in his championship fight? I thought this kid was gonna be the next big thing and it looked like he wanted to fight Saturday night. His championship fight against Pascal he looked like he didn't even want to be in the ring or better yet looked like he was just sparring. Well it looks like the books won a whole lot of money on the over and under. Makes u think that these refs know just where the money is because if i bet that fight I would have had to take the over. Now they get everybody's money and can change the decision two weeks later. A disgrace but greedy people love money.

I have a bud that thought what Mayweather did to Ortiz was out of line, but consider something. Ortiz' actions with the flagrant head butt created the circumstances that followed. Also my friend did'nt just get rammed in HIS face. Floyd was livid and remember, "what goes around, comes around". Now, don't you think, Dawson, having watched Hopkins for years KNEW what Hopkins brings to the table? You or I weren't the ones with a fucking jerk off jumping on OUR back! Yea, payback is a bitch. Hopkins provoked Dawson, and finally, someone gave Hopkins a taste of his own medicine. Watch video of Hopkins very closely. We see punch/lunge/elbow/headbutt/grab. FUCK HIM.

on BHOP

on BHOP

The fight was a great disappointment. I had Dawson but as a fan was still was upset we didn?t get a real contest. I do think Dawson would have won, and even think he had a fair chance to be the first to legitimately stop Hopkins, which I would have liked, based on how those few minutes looked to me. But the fight turned out to be a joke.

This fight becomes another blight on Hopkins?s resume as he didn?t appear to be severely injured. He did this with Robert Allen I where he was sprung out of the ring when 135 pound Mills Lane nudged him in a clinch. I know BHOP owned Allen in 2 subsequent bouts but in THAT one, he was looking like a fast sinking ship. Then you have the Antwun Echols slam which he milked to the end, the soft low blows with Calzaghe and the rabbit punches by Roy Jones that seemingly knocked Hopkins out ? come on. Hopkins created an remarkable career for himself but underlying it all, he is the ultimate con man and we got conned again (well, I didn?t buy the PPV) the other night.

Bhop has had a career with some excellent achievements, yet littered with questionable, less than honorable acts in the ring ? see above. This fight was one of the latter. I've always maintained he's a better manager (for himself) than fighter and that's saying something considering he was a world champion.

Let?s look; he has navigated himself masterfully, winning the middleweight tourney, bating cash cow Oscar de la Hoya, he owned Tito Trinidad when his stock was high and then took on all the right guys at the right time. See how astute he really was and glance at his title defenses as middleweight champ. Steve Frank, Bo James, Shot Jr. middles Andrew Council and Simon Brown and Carl Daniels, John David Jackson after losing to a 9-7 fighter and Morrad Hakkar. And defenses against serviceable but non world beaters Vanderpool, Echols I and II and Allen II and III were really his best defenses save Trinidad and Oscar who were really welterweights.

Then, later he gets to fight a completely out of shape Tarver coming off Rocky VI, small Winky Wright at 170, troubled Kelly Pavlik at 170 and Roy Jones coming off a 1st round KO loss down under. He righted his wrongs to a degree at 46 years of age by putting forth two terrific performances against Jean Pascal but now he?s right in the thick of the morass again with this debacle. But Hopkins really is super smart which belies the thuggish persona he likes to put out there. Look how he got himself situated with Golden Boy! He will likely thrive outside the ring for years to come. It?s really quite a story. And he did it his way - as Old Blue Eyes used to say. But the question remains can he continue to con the boxing public even after this strange turn of events? You can bet on it!
