72-hole plays

72-hole plays

Jay Don Blake to beat John Senden -130 @ Camelot
Blake has a great record in this event. A winner in 1991, his finishes in the last five years read 11/27/mc/14/7. With a top-3 finish already this season and the course changes likely to suit his game far more than Senden's, he should beat the Australian making his debut at Torrey Pines.

Fred Funk to beat Rory Sabbatini -118 @ Easybets
With a best of 52nd in three visits, Sabbatini was finding these courses hard enough before the changes. With accuracy more at a premium, he should find it difficult to maintain his recent good form. Funk has been top-30 in his last three visits and in his last three events. Solid enough to beat Sabbatini.

Jerry Kelly to beat Craig Stadler -140 @ WSEX
Stadler may have a great record in this event, but he is not the player who recorded his eighth consecutive top-30 in this event two years ago (that stretch includes victory in 1994), while Kelly has had a great start to the season; his missed cut in the 'giggle golf' is easy to ignore. Two players going to opposing directions.

Billy Mayfair to beat Peter Lonard -111 @ Centrebet [2 units]
Lonard enters this event after two weeks on the Australasian Tour, tiredness will surely take its effect, particularly having never played this course previously. Mayfair does have a mixed record in this event, but he is very accurate off the tee and should welcome the course changes.

Between Green Bay and Iowa City
YTD:
Matchups: 1-2(-0.90*)
Getting organized and learning lessons. It'll come.

I strongly suspect the genius of Augusta means the changes there will bring added favor to course management and a masterful short game. On the other hand, I'm guessing the changes at Torrey Pines South will bring more of a premium for strong driving.

Matchups @ 1.0*:
Lee Janzen(-110) over Stewart Cink
Jay Don Blake(-130) over John Senden
Vijay Singh(+105) over Phil Mickelson

Outrights @ 0.40*:
Lee Janzen @ 35-1
Generous odds for a hungry champion showing good form.
Matt Kuchar @ 85-1
Not likely to win, but smartly getting his opportunities to contend.

The 18th hole at Pebble Beach has long stood as the finest closing hole in the game, and been a strong contender for the best hole on the face of the earth. The character of the hole has now been irretrievably diminished, and the preposterously indifferent shotmaking that made the grade last week had me very sad.

Nomad Drat, forgot about your post of this data. Spent over an hour compiling what I could see at a glance. If you don't mind my asking where do you get these charts. I have not been able to find them in this format.
Huge discrepency between courses. They have the South set at 7,568 just short of of the 7607 max. I had gauged bout 4 shot difference which was close.
I think the South having the bottom 16 speaks louder than the few from the South at the top. Unfortunately no book I've seen has failed to take this into consideration. Found only one match with players on different courses and will have to play it as a scalp. Funk +115 over K Sutherland>Oly continuation.
Already have KS @ +110 the other way but would bet this match regardless.KS is currently 2 up @ -2 but with the South to play and current cut is @ -1 so can't say his chances of making cut are iron clad by any means. Still waiting to see if Bet365 will have anything. Tiger looks in good shape but has the South today.
He shot 71 there birding last hole in Pro-Am but don't know bout the tees that day.

I'm sure most of you got the email, but Bet365USA is having an interesting wager scenario for Sunday. All singles matches bet on Sunday's 4th round will pay both sides for a tie.

I guess they are looking for some Sunday action with no Super Bowl and no NBA games.

Just a heads up for those that don't have Bet365USA...

Mid-point update

Mid-point update

Blake/Senden Trails by 6
Funk/Sabbatini Trails by 6
Kelly/Stadler WON by 4
Mayfair/Lonard LOST (Mayfair withdrew after the 1st round)

Lehman mc
Estes 39th
Sutherland 55th

The erratic nature of this year's PGA Tour continues. Woods struggles to make the cut, Mickelson is boom or bust and the leaderboard has a very unfamiliar look to it yet again. In other words, I'm still struggling on this Tour this year. The outrights are nowhere and the top matchup play loses to a WD - Mayfair had been level with Lonard overnight :nooo:

At the cut 2-1
Funk/Lowery win
Donald/J Smith win
Mayfair/Edwards loss WD :( Go down with the rest #@#$%$
7 matches remaining with most having ground to make up which should be no prob on this course

Outrights all four made cut but bringing up the rear. Again on this layout anyone making cut is not out of placing.

3rd rd plays @ Camelot
Cook +140 over Estes
Crane -105 over Goggin
Rollins +105 over Perks

Major rant on WSEX interactives which has to be the biggest con going in golf wagers. Not only do they lock you out while adjusting odds but will not give any opps for buying in modestly before round starts. This is perfect tourney to buy some $2 shares on some anticipated contenders. Here are their $2 offers.

BUICK-GOLF2002 JOSE MARIA OLAZABAL 13021 0 2
BUICK-GOLF2002 MATT KUCHAR 13034 0 2
BUICK-GOLF2002 PAT PEREZ 13035 0 2
BUICK-GOLF2002 MIGUEL JIMENEZ 13036 0 2
BUICK-GOLF2002 MATHEW GOGGIN 13037 0 2
BUICK-GOLF2002 KEVIN SUTHERLAND 13014 0 2
BUICK-GOLF2002 PHIL MICKELSON 13010 0 2
BUICK-GOLF2002 STEWART CINK 13025 0 2

BUICK-GOLF2002 TOM LEHMAN 13016 0 2
BUICK-GOLF2002 LEE JANZEN 13020 0 2

Of the 11 over half have missed cut and they won't put up odds on 8 players in sitting currently in 11th or better UNTILL they see where they stand after lockout period at start of tv coverage and if doing well it won't be @ $2 How did Enron miss hiring this linesmaker.:nono:

Mid Point Update:

Match-ups
It's tremble time..... The hope of 3 make cuts against 3 missed cuts is just a distant memory.
Sabbatini leads Herron by 1
Maruyama leads Frazar by 1
Kendall trails Flesch by 1
Nailbiters!
Here's hoping my boys play to their best and something goes horribly wrong
with the opposition's game, preferably in the 3rd round so the 4th is more of a comfort zone.
OK it might sound mercenary... but I'm in this betting game for the money and stress is a killer!

Outrights
Milly Bayfair where are you now? Then someone obviously showed Olazabal Stan's post about the South course being like a US Open just before yesterday's back 9.

The next bet goes on a player who has put snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory, on a new level. In a long career his only
stroke play victory being the 1993 Walt Disney. But he can offer 5 US Open Top 10's.
The leaderboard is bunched which favours a perennial loser, he could win without choking a lead.
He was the 1999 World matchplay champion and 8th last time out in Phoenix.
May the Lord have mercy on my soul - but it's 66/1 Jeff Maggert at Victor Chandler & Sporting Odds
