I don't see how you can say MSU isn't involved in any of this. Your school is the one with alligations against it. Not auburn. Only quotes I've seen anywhere about paying a player say "he said it would take $180,000 to get cam to MSU" nowhere, anywhere does anyone say it would take $ to get him to come to auburn. it's MSU's dirty ass ex-player trying to "steer players in the right direction for their career" even though everyone that is associated with Rogers is denying they have even spoken to him in the last decade.

John Bond jovi said he hadn't talked to him in 30 years. then Rogers says he talked to Bond jovi this summer. Now the most recent story says "there were a couple people between Rogers and Bond that passed on information" The story is full of holes. Chris Low is a garbage journalist, he needs to stick to picking SEC scores, that's all he's good at. Schlabach is a Georgia homer. Coincidence that the story comes out 9 days before we anal rape his alma matter?

The church got rennovated by an Auburn Alum that owns a contracting company in GA (from my inside sources hahhaha jk). If that was done free of charge, I'm sure the NCAA will find it and something will be done. But Auburn isn't being accused of anything at this point. And the investigation has been going on since July. Nothing will come out of it.

Does kind of remind me of last January when an ex-southcarolina player said:

"If Lattimore goes to Auburn, he was bought and paid for"

And he ends up at SCar? should we then assume they paid for him? all i'm sayin

Fact, huh:mj07:

One "fact" that you are WAY off on is that Trooper rumors began at UT. 10 years ago, while he coached at Tulane, buzz around here was that he was paying players

I'm sorry, well it started at Tulane, followed him to UT and nothing ever came of it.

Cam was caught cheating 3 times at Florida and faced expulsion when he transferred. Isn't he just a peach:142smilie :142smilie :142smilie

a man of strong character

Auburn quarterback Cam Newton was facing possible expulsion from the University of Florida for academic cheating when he transferred to junior college in the spring of 2009, FoxSports.com reported on Monday.

Newton, a Heisman Trophy front-runner, is said to have been caught cheating three times, including putting his name on someone else's paper without that student's knowledge.

Newton attended Florida in 2007 and 2008 before transferring to Blinn College, a junior college in Texas.

Newton decided to leave Florida following a November 2008 arrest after he bought a stolen computer. The charges were dropped last December when he completed a pretrial intervention program for first-time offenders.

According to FoxSports.com, Newton again violated the university's honor code by putting his name on another student's paper and turning it in. Newton was caught after the instructor asked the real author of the paper why he had not turned in his work.

Newton turned in a second paper to the instructor, but that paper was later found to have been purchased off the Internet, according to FoxSports.com. He was to appear for a hearing in front of Florida's Student Conduct Committee during the spring semester of 2009, but instead transferred to Blinn College.

Cecil Newton, Cam's father, told FoxSports.com, "I wasn't there. I cannot confirm or deny. At a time like this, I'm taking a defensive posture."

The cheating revelations come after ESPN.com reported last week that a man claiming to represent Newton during the quarterback's recruitment out of Blinn College last year allegedly sought payments in the range of $200,000 to secure Newton's signature on a national letter-of-intent. Newton's father and Auburn have denied any wrongdoing in the quarterback's recruitment.

The NCAA is reviewing allegations that a man allegedly tried to secure payment from Mississippi State during Newton's recruitment.

After throwing for a career-high 317 yards and four touchdowns against Chattanooga on Saturday, Newton again professed his innocence.

"I haven't done anything wrong," Newton said. "I'm an Auburn athlete, and I'm still playing for Auburn. I love Auburn, and that's all I've got to say."

A person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press Friday that Auburn has had "no contact whatsoever" with the man allegedly involved.

ESPN.com reported Thursday that a teammate of John Bond, a Mississippi State quarterback in the 1980s, contacted Bond soon after Newton's official visit to the school during the Ole Miss game in December 2009. He said he was representing Newton and soliciting a six-figure payment.

Sources told ESPN.com that Bond's former teammate is Kenny Rogers, who played at Mississippi State from 1982 to '85. Bond told ESPN.com that the former teammate told him other schools already had offered $200,000, but because Newton really liked Mississippi State and had a relationship with coach Dan Mullen from their time at Florida, Mississippi State could get him for $180,000.

"He said it would take some cash to get Cam," Bond said. "I called our athletic director, Greg Byrne, and he took it from there. That was pretty much it."

When asked following Saturday's game about the allegations, Newton said, "I wish I could talk about it right now but I can't. That's how it goes. ... I don't think it's right for me to talk about it right now."

Rogers denied having solicited Newton to Mississippi State in an interview with ESPN 103.3 FM in Dallas. Rogers has a company called Elite Football Preparation, which holds camps in Alabama, Chicago and Mississippi, and matches football prospects with colleges.

"A school never paid me for a kid and alumni never paid me for a kid. Period. Point blank," Rogers said.

Auburn, in the meantime, has not received a letter of inquiry from the NCAA, the person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press Friday, on condition of anonymity.

The person said Newton's eligibility "has at no point been in jeopardy."

"Let me tell you something. This is a great kid," Auburn head coach Gene Chizik said after Saturday's victory. "I can speak intelligently on that one. This is a great kid. And you can go back and you can talk to elementary coaches, high school, this is a great kid and he's been a great kid at Auburn University every day he's been around me, this staff and his teammates.

"I don't know what's out there and I don't know what hits you're talking about, but I can assure you this: this is a phenomenal young man. Make no mistake about that."

Meyers is on a mission in Florida to paint Cam Newton as dirty as possible.

Period.

Meyers is suffering from heat in a down year and doesn't want more of the same from losing Cam Newton.

All roads thus far lead to Florida.

This has no connection but I like to throw wood on the fire to see if it will burn.

Rogers son who intially went to Nebraska and then left is now set to attend "wait, wait for it" Texas Tech and play for former Auburn HC Tommy Tuberville.

Attempted character assassination of Cam Newton continues

Published: Tuesday, November 09, 2010, 9:01 AM Updated: Tuesday, November 09, 2010, 9:31 AM

Kevin Scarbinsky, Birmingham News

That's what this is. There's no other way to describe it. Even if the latest allegations against Cam Newton are true, they add up to a serious attempt at character assassination.

In 26 years in this business, I've never seen anything like it.

Less than a week after ESPN.com reported that someone who said he represented the Newton camp tried to sell his services to Mississippi State, FoxSports.com has reported that Newton had "three different instances of academic cheating at Florida and faced potential expulsion from the university."

The story bases this damaging allegation on "a source."

Even if true, Newton left Florida after the 2008 fall semester. He spent 2009 at Blinn College in Brenham, Texas. He arrived at Auburn in January of 2010.

That's a lot of water under a lot of bridges in the interim.

So why is this latest story relevant in 2010?

Thayer Evans, the senior college football writer for FoxSports.com, who wrote this story, already had written an opinion piece that said the Newton story of redemption is "too good to be true." Perhaps, but only if he was a flawed young man who made serious mistakes during his two years in Gainesville and didn't learn from them or change as a result of them.

If that were true, why did Dan Mullen, who was Newton's position coach at Florida in 2007 and 2008, who should've known about these allegations at the time, still want to sign Newton last winter to play at Mississippi State?

Mullen must've seen some good in Newton beyond his ability to run the spread.

At Auburn, by all accounts, Newton has been more than the best player in college football. He's been a team leader and a solid citizen. You could make a strong case that the young man arrived at Auburn as a changed man.

Unless you wanted to insinuate that, despite his record-breaking season at Auburn and Florida's struggles at the quarterback position, the Gators are glad he's gone because he was, is and always will be a bad man.

Maybe Newton wasn't a saint when he started college. Maybe he got caught up in Urban Meyer's Florida football culture of players who scoff at the law and a head coach who enables them by slapping them on the wrist when they get caught.

The latest story says that Newton's first alleged instance of academic cheating at Florida occurred during his freshman year of 2007. Did Meyer take a strong stand at that time and suspend him?

There's no public record that he did. To the contrary, as the backup to Tim Tebow, Newton played in five games that season.

Then again, giving players extra chances to redeem themselves is the Meyer way.

Auburn should do today something that most schools don't do when one of their players is under attack, something that Auburn did Saturday after the Chattanooga game.

The school should put Newton at the podium at Gene Chizik's weekly press conference and let him answer questions. He may not be able to answer every question, but he should address these academic cheating allegations.

If they're true, he should admit it and tell the world the difference between Cam Newton in 2007-08 and 2010. If they're false, he should climb to the top of the football building and shout it from the rooftop.

Forget the SEC and BCS title chases. Something more important is at stake here. It's a young man's character and reputation.

Someone has chosen to drag Newton back in time. Only he can go back and close that chapter of his life before he can move on.

pulled from another forum; :mj07:

Unnamed sources say:

While a senior in HS Cam cut a class on Senior skip day

While a sophomore in HS Cam cheated on his girlfriend (sources say she was very upset until Jimmy asked her for a date the next day)

While in the 8th grade sources say that his dog did not eat his homework.

In the 6th grade, sources claim that Cam talked in class without raising his hand first.

Unnamed sources say that on numerous occasions while in the 4th grade Cam spent his milk money on candy.

Reports are coming in from unnamed sources that a girl in Cam's kindergarten class, claims that he pulled her hair.

And I hate to say it, but it only gets worse.

Unnamed sources claim that when Cam was 2 years old, after telling his parents that he was a big boy, and could wear big boy pants he went bobo in his pants.

Thanks for breaking news. I live in Auburn and have sent this to all my friends and family so they can be prepared for the latest Cam news, before it comes out on ESPN.

By the way for all the haters out there read Greg Doyle's column today.

Can't wait to play Florida in the Dome. WDE

I'm hearing Thayer Evans took a personal leave of absence after breaking the story. probably a smart thing to do after hearing the federal authorities are getting involved and "sources" aren't protected in federal investigations.

The Committee at UF that handles academic misconduct said Newton was never reported there for anything.

Person serving on the committee said he handled 11-12 cases of academic misconduct and said nobody ever got expelled for that - so Newton didn't transfer because he was on the brink of expulsion.

The liar in charge of this most recent mud-slinging attempt will be known soon enough.

Personally - WGAS if he bought a paper online or put his name on another kids paper... I read that harvard did a study saying 80% of students in business school in the US cheat. I know I copied a couple scantrons and got someone to write an 8 page research paper for me when I was in college. Chit happens. haters gonna hate
