And by the way, you have been added to my argument against local vaccine mandates as a third anecdotal reference. Now I will tell people that my doctor neighbor across the street, my doctor neighbor to my left and a tall, pious, nurse/missionary from a gambling forum All agree that ?only a moron would discount natural immunity ?
🙌🏼🙌🏼
I think a local mandate is silly too. Sorry I missed your reference to that in the prior post. You?re not an anti-vaxer (obv since u have been vaccinated) nor do you believe in the related fb/social media driven conspiracy/fake news related to that, so I can definitely go along with your opinion that local vax mandates are dumb (I do think you should renounce any republican leadership/or news organization that feeds this however).
How is a mandate to be enforced? How does the enforcement of said mandate not violate components of the first, fourth, and fifth amendments to the Constitution? It?s impossible. While I think it?s a good idea, I still am a proponent of choice. I always say to co-workers and to my patients that I?m not at the hospital to correct bad behavior and poor choices. If my patient is 600 lbs and an uncontrolled diabetic, their family brings them takeout for every meal, they ask for ice cream, graham crackers, and coke constantly (therefore obviously not following their 1800 calorie hospital diabetic diet), I?m not arguing with them about it. I simply don?t care. If an adult doesn?t want to get a vaccine Bc they believe a bunch of horse 💩 or if a motor cyclist doesn?t want to wear a helmet, I don?t care (if they die as a result). Maybe I?m callous? I want to help people that want to help themselves. I?m too busy to waste my time in life or at work on someone who doesn?t.
LA Burns, I?m glad you think for yourself. I encourage that, and I won?t even question it since u said it. I?ll take you at your word. I didn?t mean to pigeonhole you as a Trumper, so sorry for that as it wasn?t my intent. I could very well have misinterpreted a litany of your prior posts/opinions. Too many people of all beliefs and ideologies need others to tell them how to think. Here?s an example that I think I have written about in the past...
I once had a patient who was a Jehovah?s Witness. We all know they don?t believe in transfusions. Anyway, her hemoglobin was 5.7. She was a nice lady in her 60s with a large family. I didn?t want her to die of anemia in 2015 when that was so easily treated, but I didn?t try to dissuade her from her belief even though I personally think what they believe regarding transfusions and military service is hogwash. It?s not my place to do that, and I must respect those of all beliefs and faiths. However (unlike the other examples above), I truly wanted to help her not die primarily BC she was very simple. Simple is my kind way of saying not smart/uneducated. Anyway, I suggested to the physician that we try some iron infusions in attempts to help her own body with the process of producing more red blood cells to a hopeful life sustaining level. I told her what was going on, and she replied that she didn?t think she could take iron. I told her it wasn?t a blood product, but she refused unless she spoke with personally and had confirmation from a JW shepherd (i think maybe they have a secret greeting or handshake to confirm that?s who they are :shrug
. I told her I would be glad to call her Shepherd, but unfortunately, she was new to town and had not established herself in a local JW congregation. I started going thru the local listings and was able to contact a man who agreed to come see her. He came and told her it was ok to take an iron infusion. The point is, she was perfectly willing to not take a medication and probably die without somebody telling her that her what she believed and that her belief did not forbid it. Sorry for being long winded, but that?s all 100% true. There was no chaplain at this hospital, so I had to do all of this legwork personally.
Know what you believe, do your own research, make informed decisions based on science and fact, and trust the experts in medicine/research like you do at the business where you get your car fixed, and don?t count on fb to instruct you.
