13) Louisville gave basketball coach Chris Mack $4.8M to take a hike Wednesday, firing Mack during an 11-9 season- Cardinals lost five of their last six games.

Mack did really well (105-51 in conference games) coaching Xavier (his alma mater) but had off-court issues at Louisville, firing assistant coaches last year. One of the assistants he fired taped their conversation, then tried to extort money from Mack.

12) Colonial Athletic Association is adding three teams for next year, bringing them up to 12 teams. Hampton, Monmouth, Stony Brook are the three new teams.

11) This past weekend was first time since 2010 that both #1-seeds lost their first game in the NFL playoffs.

10) First pick in April?s NFL Draft will get $41.47M in guaranteed money; there is no clear-cut choice for the #1 pick this year, which is held by Jacksonville.

5) They?re moving back the left-field fence at Camden Yards in Baltimore, raising it from 7 to 12-feet high in some places, but that shouldn?t impact Cedric Mullins much. None of Mullins? 30 home runs last year went to the opposite field.

4) Nick Castellanos is still a free agent, one of several outstanding free agents; he should really consider staying in Cincinnati.

Castellanos hit .359 at home, with a 1.109 OPS and 23 homers
On the road, he hit .260, with 11 homers and a .772 OPS.

3) Also in Cincinnati, Joey Votto hit 36 homers last year, despite missing 33 games with a broken thumb. He his 31 of those 36 homers from June 8th on, after his thumb healed. Last year was Votto?s best OPS since 2017.

2) Miami 2B Jazz Chisholm got lot of hype early last year, when he hit .311 in April with a .969 OPS, but after April, he hit only .236 with a .681 OPS. Flashy player, runs really fast, but maybe a little overrated. Marlins traded P Zac Gallen for him; not sure how smart that was.

1) Last July 22, Tampa Bay traded for Nelson Cruz, trying to bolster their lineup to make the playoffs; at the time of the trade, Cruz was hitting .294, with a .904 OPS.

After the trade, Cruz hit .226 with a .725 OPS; he is a free agent, will be 42 in July. Which team is going to take a chance and sign Cruz as a DH?
