Where it is real F ing COLD
Depends on where you are at for passing on a double yellow line. I can assure you there are some long hilly farm roads that go miles and every once in a while you are going to come upon a blue hair doing 20 in a 45, are you going to pass? You going to wait it out?

I pass on roads like that routinely.......sometimes even crossing a double yellow if behind an unreasonably slow moving vehicle. If pulled over, i would not be issued anything besides an illegal pass ticket. The "reckless" or "careless"part is passing multiple cars at once on a double yellow. The bikers in the video were tame compared to the crazy bikers I see around here most Sundays on I-10 thru suburban Nola

Fuck me, I didnt read all the posts, but I cant believe anyone is putting blame on the motorcyclist. Was he breaking the law, yes? Did he deserve a ticket, yes?

Does the old man in the car have anything to do with his actions, no? Was he being his own judge and jury, yes?

This is not acceptable. It's like the lady that took out her gun and fired at a shoplifter, a fucking shoplifter.

We have laws and punishments in this country for a reason so people can learn from their mistakes. If I was a teenager or in my 20s in this era, I dont know if I would have made it and I was a good kid.

Who in their right mind thinks it is ok to have everyone out there enforcing what they think is the right way to live or drive.

So let's say Im following behind fucking going to slow old guy, way slow like should get a ticket for going to slow or careless driving, or just being a fucktard, but instead of taking things as they come and either A - be patient and wait out his actions B get pissed and pass and break the law myself or C - fucking perform a take out maneuver and t-bone him into the ditch.

C - would never even come into my mind, just like Id never think hey Im going to hit a passing motorcycle that in 3 secs wont even be an afterthought of mine or Im going to pump some lead into a kid who stole maybe $50 worth of shit.

UGH!! Fucking society

Driver Arrested For Texas Motorcycle Crash Has Been In Trouble Before

Driver Arrested For Texas Motorcycle Crash Has Been In Trouble Before

GRANBURY (CBSDFW.COM) ? A driver in Granbury over the weekend was captured on video swerving into a motorcycle on the road. The bike crashed and left two people injured. William ?Bill? Crum claims an insect bite caused him to momentarily lose control of his vehicle, but prosecutors are not buying that story.

CBS 11 uncovered the criminal past of a man who continues to insist that a spider bite forced him to swerve into a motorcyclist and his passenger.

Bill Crum spoke to reporters from the Hood County Jail Tuesday.

?Right there inside my leg,? Crum said showing cameras where he said the spider bit him. ?I?m squeezing puss out of it. Maybe it will rot half my leg off and they?ll believe I was actually bit.?

The video that shows Crum crossing the double lines and crashing into a motorcyclist and passenger who were passing him illegally has gone viral on a global scale.

Crum can be heard saying ?I don?t care? when confronted at the crash scene.

He explained that he didn?t feel remorse because the motorcyclist was breaking the traffic laws.

?I thought that he was one of these turds that was doing something wrong,? Crum said.

CBS 11 discovered that Crum?s wrap sheet dated back to the 90?s and involved charges of assault, reckless driving and terrorist threats.

Crum had little to say about the prior convictions.

His current charges include two counts of Aggravated Assault. He?s being held on $150,000 bond.

The motorcycle on Saturday was trying to illegally pass Crum?s car on the road. After it crossed over a double line, Crum?s car suddenly veered into the bike and then back into its own lane. The entire thing was caught on video by another biker.

Debra Simpson was the passenger on the crashed motorcycle. She remains hospitalized after suffering a broken wrist and deep lacerations from the crash and has needed more than one surgery. Eric Sanders was the driver of the motorcycle, and is Simpson?s boyfriend. He too was hurt when the bike wrecked out.

Simpson was moved out of ICU on Monday, but there is no word yet on when she will be able to leave the hospital.

Crum, 68, now faces two counts of aggravated assault. While he remains in jail for these alleged crimes this isn?t the first time Crum has been arrested. Records show he has also faced charges for everything from family violence assault, to unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, reckless driving, abusive calls to 911 and making a terroristic threat.

Deputies booked Crum into the Hood County Jail just after midnight on Tuesday, saying that he was uncooperative then and remained so later on Tuesday. His bond was set at $75,000 for each charge.

Before being arrested, Crum explained that the swerving was his reaction to a spider bite. However, he was captured on video saying ?I don?t care? about the motorcycle crash and the two victims. ?On that particular road,? Crum said, ?I?ve seen them do wheelies at 60 mph, and I thought he was one of them. I didn?t know there was a passenger.?

If he is convicted, Crum could face 20 years in prison for each count. ?He?s getting locked up,? said Sanders. ?The state is filing charges on him, straight up.?

This Crash Wasn't The Rider's Fault And Road Vigilantism Is Never Justified

by Sean MacDonald of Jalopnik.com

I tried to stay out of all of the conversation about that now-infamous crash where a car swerved and hit two people on a motorcycle. I followed along as the comments climbed north of 4,000 between the initial post and news of the driver?s arrest. But this thing just keeps nagging at me.

I wanted to take time to consider both my initial reactions and the opinions of many of you, who happen to be bright and rational and intelligent individuals as well. As many of you stated, not all things are black and white.

But this one is, and here is why.

The Rider?s Actions Already Have Consequences

Yes, I know the motorcycle rider broke the law by attempting a pass on a double yellow. But as a society, we?ve already determined a consequence for that. It?s called a moving citation, and it normally comes with some sort of fine and possibly a point or several on a driving record. That?s it.

And the rider, Eric Sanders, got just that. He was cited for passing in a no-pass zone and driving with an invalid license.

Since the news of this went viral, the driver, William Crum, has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He claims the swerve happened because of an insect bite in the vehicle. It?ll be up to a jury to determine whether this was an accident or intentional, but some people have been justifying this as a valid act of road vigilantism, or ?teaching someone a lesson.? This is not only wrong, it?s insane.

It?s never a civilian?s responsibility to teach him a lesson. I live in an area where the norm is to do 15 mph over the speed limit on the freeways, and chances are you break traffic laws all of the time too. ?He was doing something bad? doesn?t justify any person who isn?t a cop interfering, let alone like interfering like this.

He Wasn?t Doing Anything ?Dumb?

Passing on a double yellow line is against the law, but it isn?t dumb.

Those lines are painted with cars in mind because cars cannot accelerate as quickly as motorcycles. In my mind that means it?s not necessarily unsafe to pass. As you can see from the video, he could see there was no one coming and that it was safe.

I?m not condoning breaking laws just because they don?t make sense, and it?s definitely important that as a society we all abide by things that keep the masses safe?but law-breaking and intelligence have no correlation. Just look at big business.

The thing about riding motorcycles is that laws are great and all, but they sometimes take a back seat to safety. I refuse to sit in blindspots or around drivers or riders who are driving erratically or could be under the influence. Yes, I could always pull over and wait for the drivers to move along but, here in California where we can split lanes, I?d likely just catch up to them and it?s easier for me to ?break the law? and speed slightly faster than traffic to improve the chances of getting to my destination safely.

Violence Isn?t The Answer

We live in a violent society, but I?ll admit here that my views are far different than mainstream America. I think that violence is never the answer unless required to keep myself or my loved ones safe. Maybe it?s all my time teaching emotionally disturbed teens or maybe I?m just lame, but my pride isn?t worth hurting someone else nor does it teach them a lesson.

And this issue was just that, a matter of pride. It?s the same reason drivers in the Pacific Northwest get mad when you forget you aren?t in California anymore and you split lanes. Because, even though you aren?t slowing them down any, you?re passing them and life is a race and they were in front. This guy thought ?Hey, you can?t pass me, I?ll show you!?

Fuck this guy, and fuck you if you think the rider deserved any part of this. If it?s determined that the driver did in fact intentionally swerve to hit the motorcycle, in my mind it?s attempted murder and nothing the rider did is deserving of it.

The Motorcyclist Isn?t A Saint, And Neither Are You

Now, I wasn?t there and there?s really no way for me to know if this was a safety issue, or an impatience one. If it?s merely an issue of impatience, the rider was in the wrong but, as I?ve stated, we already have consequences for that. If you want to harp on him for that, you better not jaywalk, have ever not quite made that yellow light, and better come to a complete and full stop at every single stop sign, every single time.

I?m not saying what the rider did was right. Just that what he did doesn?t make him stupid and it doesn?t have any impact on the whether the driver?s actions were right or wrong.

If I?m on a one lane road in the middle of nowhere with my girlfriend on the back and the guy in front of me is driving far too slow or weird or in some way that makes my spidey sense tingle - I?m doing the exact same thing as this guy.

And I will explain it to the cop when he pulls me over, and gladly pay the ticket he?ll likely still issue if it means doing what I think is best for our safety?because that?s what our society has deemed the crime worth and because it?s the smart thing to do. Because I?m not a saint either.

OK i see all points here and i digress motor bike riders are idiots.

At least here where i live either direction on I 95 they blow by me at super high speeds and i'm driving like 75 MPH keeping pace with traffic???

They bob and weave with short distance between cars and trucks and i seen many killed doing it.

They become superman for few seconds flying in the air while bike slides into other cars or trucks and BAM they are dead on impact to roadway or trees on side.

Talk about a post truama experience after seeing that happen i shudder every time i see these hondas and suziki's flying at 100 MPH.

Cannot see them coming up behind you when off to side .

two years ago was driving at night north on I 95 all of sudden on shoulder bike zips by me

then more of them go flying by jack rabbiting between every vehicle.

Quickly called 911 reported from mile marker i saw when it happened.

about 15 mins later i saw state police cars and bikes of them had caught each biker and were writing each lots of tickets .

So many flashing lights on shoulder it looked like times square at NEW years eve ..

:142smilie

So lives were saved that night.

I notice past few years now all drivers are morons .......

Passing me on shoulder on an on ramp ???? WTF are you crazy.

Going to casino's other night a snake like winding road Jack off passes me and is straddling both lanes OMFG :scared

Even when i first started driving as a teen i had brains knew what not to do.

BUT when you deal with prick NJ police forgettabouttit.

They will pull you over for looking at them or just because they don't like you.
