Had it 116-112. If there is such a thing as a close fight with a decisive winner, I think this was it. Certainly not a dominating effort, but Forrest carried the fight.

yup..........i agree. Even though it was boring, Forrest fought a very smart fight. Mosley obviously wanted to counter and was waiting for Vernon to throw. But Forrest didn't bite. I was kind of surprised that Mosley didn't go to plan B somehere in the late rounds though. Props to Forrest and those that won their wagers on him. Congrats!!

You hit it on the nose about being a cautious, boring fight. I was very disappointed in the performance of both fighters but especially Mosley. I think Forrest's corner was correct when they were saying he was scared to death of the right hand. Shane was not willing to take any chances to win this fight. Hard to understand when he had everything to lose.

bah.

what a dog this fight was. Maybe I was tricked because Mosley always made winning look so easy (like RJJ) whereas Forrest always made it look like so much work. That convinced me the first was a fluke and got my money on Mosley in this one. If RJJ and Hopkins ever get together (again), I'm going to keep these two Mosley-Forrest fights in mind.

Too bad for Mosley too. You know this fight was much more interesting than the upcoming De La Hoya - Vargas fight which will generate a lot more money. Shows you what good promotion can do for a fighter.

The undercard fight was interesting with Tarver telling the ref to stop it, then yelling at the ref after the fight "did you want me to kill him?"

That's a real classy move by a guy who respects boxing and his opponent. Well, yelling at the ref isn't classy, but I think concerns over really hurting a guy preempt that. He knew that Harding couldn't defend himself even if Harding and the ref didn't know it.

That was a real beat-down too. Yes, I like the sweet science but I also like a good ole bloody face ass whooping, too.

last random thoughts on the fights

last random thoughts on the fights

1)i think antonio tarver is one lucky dude...he was getting a major ass-whipping and was looking pretty discouraged until harding got cocky and walked into that straight left hand....
2)mosley was obviously head butted in the second fight, also(not  )
3)mosley vividly remembered those vicious right hands he ate in the first fight...so much so that he was deathly afraid to work his way inside vs forrest....he threw one lunging punch at a time trying land a lucky bomb without having to take to much punishment......he averaged around 21 punches per round(a ridiculously low punch rate)...
4)because of the late hour, the baltimore sunpapers did not have sunday coverage of the fight....on monday, they have one small paragraph in a section called "sports digest"(random paragraphs with death notices and sundry insignificant sports stories)...the sunpapers has always sucked, but,i bet this is what happened all over the country. ...i`ll bet if mosely had won,you would have seen more on sportscenter and in papers all over the country....my point is this country is more into flash than substance....i think it`s probably a good thing that a hard working technically sound guy like forrest exposed mosely as having significant weaknesses in his game...i have always thought that muhammad ali really hurt boxing and got way to much credit....he fought in a time when the heavyweight division was very weak(how many think joe frazier could have beaten bowe, lewis, tua or even chris byrd-byrd is actually bigger than joe).... ali took 2 1/2 minutes off in many rounds and got to much credit because of the social climate of that time....sorry for getting off track....gl everybody.
