I know the local RC man very well, and he has all the work he wants. RC does well around here, and it is my personal favorite. Shasta is the cola we have at work, comes in the smaller, 6 oz cans. It is an acquired taste.

I really like Mountain Lightning, the Walmart knock off of Mountain Dew. I also really like Vess Cola.

We also had a place back in the late 70s early 80s that sold a whole lot of different flavored soft drinks, but I can't remember the name of the store or brand.

Peach Nehi is great, but I never can find that anymore:(

back in my high school days (early 70's) there was a malt liquor called "Hoppen Gator". anybody remember that one and is it still available somewhere? it was a fruity drink with about the same alcohol content as colt45.

i'd love to find that around somewhere and try it again. i remember it tasting great!

RC is huge in KY. I saw TAB in the grocery store the other day (Atlanta) and thought to myself about how long it had been since I saw it. Funny you bring this subject up.

I really like the Mountain Lightning for two reasons. 1. It tastes real good. 2. My roommates won't drink it.:nono:

Everyone thinks New Coke was a flop. Well, let me tell you how genius it was for Coke to do that. Studies show that when Coca-Cola Classic came back, they earned more Pepsi converters than in the last 25 years. I really think the whole New Coke thing was a marketing effort to create a buzz. Which in did in huge numbers. That crap was on the news every night for a year. Pure genius!

I think you can still find Nehi drinks in Nebraska as Nehi peach was a fan fave growing up over there.

Does anyone remember C& C Cola? I can't remember what it tastes like but know it came in a red can.

I tell you another nasty drink I have had was called Big Red. I dont' know if that stuff is supposed to taste like Bubblegum but it tastes much like that hubba bubba stuff Marine described.

Has anyone ever tried those Pepsi's and Cokes with the Lemon? Cant' see that tasting too good.

I have also seen Lifesavers Orange flavored drink in the cooler before.

Bubble Up? I think it tasted kinda like Mtn Dew?

I will probably be burned at the stake for this but I absolutely love Squirt, especially on a hot day after mowing the lawn.

I remember when I was a kid that Ballantine beer was the sponsor of the Yankees.Everytime a Yankee hit a homerun it was a" Ballantine Blast".The Mets sponsor was Schaeffer(spelling?)Beer.
Does anyone know if these beers are still sold?

Are you kidding me you can still buy Schaefers, Schlitz, Falstaff, Strohs and PBR here in Texas. I like most of them but the hangovers are ridiculous. Go to the Pabst Brewing Website.

Bluegrass!
DraNk lots of Schaeffer during a few visits to Swane University. Like their bumper stickers say, "if ya hadn't heard of Swane b/c ya can't afford it"... BIG RED still the nastiest of all colas ever produced. I still continue to drink this stuff today, and it remains my fav. of all time-- NU-GRAPE!

I think most beer cans needed a church key up until the mid 70's

They were all steel, too. I believe that Hamms was the first can we ever saw that was aluminum.

The change that revolutionized the beer can came in March 1963 when the Pittsburgh Brewing Company introduced its flagship Iron City Beer in self-opening cans. You put your finger into the ring and yanked and bingo, the can was open! Schlitz took what it called the "Pop Top" national, and by 1965, some 75% of all cans produced had an easy-open device. Pull tabs were around for a little over 10 years, when they began to be replaced by the stay tab.

Mountain Dew Code Red I hear has done very well, have not tried it, do not drink much pop.

Pepsi is coming out with a pepsi but will be coloured blue, do not know the marketing name, doing this because of the success of Mountain dew.

Looking forward to the Vanilla Coke, but will probably not be as good as Snow White. Snow White was a pop made by a local bottler, vanilla soda. It was sold in bottles and ussually when someone had one they wanted more. They stopped problems overall, believe they were bought out and the brand was dropped :( Jones white soda is the closest I have seen to it, and I like it but it is too sweet.

thanks
