Definitely the same bands that I grew up with as well. Funny though, they seem to be concentrated in the first half of the 1980s. The 2nd half was a real low point in British music ... the era of Stock, Aitken & Waterman music

#1 80s song has to be The Clash and London Calling

Correction too: Song to the Siren, now that I think of it, wasn't by the Cocteau Twins. It was by This Mortal Coil, faturing Liz Fraser on lead vocals.

Anders, you know your music ... well, 1980s at least

London Calling, the album and single, did come out in 1979, but they were both high in the charts into 1980.
