Nebraska(-10') over Northwestern (1*)
- - Been watching both teams closely, and I see Nebraska taking strides through adversity to emerge as a pretty decent team, while Northwestern has so far done a really good job of achieving with less. This one screams to me as Nebraska all day in front of the faithful.
West Virginia(-3) over Oklahoma State (1*)
- -
Wisconsin(-3) over Illinois (1*)
- - Illinois gave a top shelf effort in upsetting Maryland as a double digit dog, and Wisconsin loses their 95th rated QB to injury. What I’m seeing here is a sizeable overreaction to the fight for relevance in the Big Ten West race.
Iowa(-3)(-130) over Minnesota (1*)
- - Minnesota has suffered through a decade of complete futility and a quarter century of empty trips to Iowa City in the nation’s premier Trophy game, and wants this scalp badly, and of course I’m just a little worried that it could happen. But simply put, Iowa has shown how much this Trophy means to them, and Phil Fleck’s 2023 Gophers have flashed nothing that offers value at this insulting number.
Minnesota/Iowa(Ov30') (1*)

USC(-7)(-105) over Utah (1*)
- - Guess I’m willing to eat a lot of chalk in this one.
Duke(+14) over Florida State (1*)
- -
Alabama(-9) over Tennessee (1*)
- -
Indiana(+6) over Rutgers (1*)
- - My thoughts last week were, “Rutgers wins but not by much.” My thoughts this week are if Rutgers wins, it will be close.
Miami(+3) over Clemson (1*)
- - I was dead on last week when I thought Miami would play hard and look like a Top 25 team, but North Carolina would be the right side. Now Miami returns to the scene of the crime, and I expect as good or better effort will be the right side.
Penn State(+4) over Ohio State (1*)
- - I have been tracking Penn State toward this spot since about the last time they played, and they have given me no reason not to carry my cash come game day, even if several bandwagons are needed for the masses driving the spread below the generous +6 I was more or less expecting.
Miami (Ohio)(+2) over Toledo (1*)
- -
Missouri(-7')(-105) over South Carolina (1*)
- -
Kansas State(-6') over TCU (1*)
- - Swapping in this play instead of a play on Oklahoma(-17') over UCF. That was a bad move for me last week, when I switched from Iowa State(+5) over Cincinnati to Cincinnati over Iowa State.
