Chicago(-4) over Tennessee (1*)
- - No one is on Chicago. I mean no one is on Chicago. Maybe it is the 1 and gazillion ATS record in first starts by rookie QBs and #1 picks. I think it is really more of a case of cappers playing a number instead of playing on or against teams . . . Pulling the trigger in my capping is far more influenced by INFORMATION and ANGLES on teams and situations, matchups and coaches, than it is numbers (or trends). This No. 1 pick came from Carolina, and IMO that means something here. I love the spot, I've been tracking it all through the exhibition season, and in a slate of lid lifters that may prove I know nothing about nothing, Chicago carries my cash against Will Levis today.

- - When I play totals, it is usually when I get sold on the idea by analysis from cappers I respect laying out a case that is in line with my thinking.

Cincinnati(-7') over New England (1*)
- - I have done well betting against New England the last two years. This is not the spot to pull back.

Atlanta(-4) over Pittsburgh (1*)

I spent as much time tracking developments all week on the Jets/Vikings game as I have on any NFL game this season, and I was fully committed to the side I chose. On the other hand, I only gave a cursory look at the Washington game before deciding I had no reason whatsoever to let Cleveland carry my cash. And for every one of my 65 years I know substantially more tracking developments over the course of a 365 day year on the NFL North than any other division, so stepping out with a play on the Bears seemed to be my best avenue for hopefully turning a corner on my losing ways.

Denver(-3) over Las Vegas (1*)
- - Sean Peyton says his team is playing good football, and his rookie QB is taking on more with aplomb, while the short handed Raiders are not in a comparable spot. This home stand looks right for the new regime ending a streak of 8 straight losses to their consistently unexceptional divisional foe.

Green Bay(-3) over Los Angeles Rams (1 Biscuit)
- - I always post a play on the side of every Packers game and Hawkeye game. Only got the Packers right this year on the Indy game.

Pittsburgh(-2')(-115) over Dallas (1*)

New Orleans(+5') over Kansas City (1*)
- - IMO, Kansas City has dug deep for magic rather than great football to plot their way to 4-0, and I don’t see this as the spot in which they seem likely to flip the switch to great football . . . New Orleans is probably being undervalued after a tough loss at Atlanta because of a couple of improbable touchdowns and a 58 yard field goal with two seconds left. Saints QB Derek Carr can be all over the spectrum from good to bad, but in this game I like the fact he has vast experience against KC, if not success. And any team in the hyper competitive NFL relishes a chance to play the World Champions, maybe a little more so on the big Monday night stage for a team feeling slighted.

I would have to say I liked the NCAA card this week. And yes, I was very sad I did not switch my play from Oklahoma to Texas. But I needed some helpful lines on Kansas State(-3)(-115), Penn State(-3)(-130), and UCLA(+4') to escape the week with a record of 8-9-2.

I can't say I like the NFL card much at all this week, and now I'm very sad I didn't take a shot with one play I was liking better than most on the feeling good and happy to play anywhere Bears against the hurricane distracted and overvalued Jags.

What I got:

Tennessee(-2')(-120) over Indianapolis (1*)
- -

Tampa Bay(-3)(-130) over New Orleans (1*)
- -

Philadelphia(-8') over Cleveland (1*)
- -

Detroit(-3)(-115) over Dallas (1*)
- -

Green Bay(-5') over Arizona (1 Biscuit)
- -

Pittsburgh(-3)(-120) over Las Vegas (1*)
- -
