Pharlap, don't know where you got that translation from but that is pretty far off the original hebrew text.

That was fron an online source...dont know what version it was. But here is the King James version. Again pretty condemning I would think, not much room for misinterpretation. I especially like the use of the term "backbiters". Next time the wife scolds me for using such a term I will simply reply "It's in the bible!".

[26] For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
[27] And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
[28] And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
[29] Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
[30] Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
[31] Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
[32] Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Geez, big surprise. Too bad I don't have a son I could take to see this crap. Every father in the country would want his kid to learn how to be a fruit I suppose.

And hollywood is applauding this sick garbage!!

Dr. Freeze. I gotta say I want to get pissed off for what you have said in thisthread. Sadly, I must admit that much of what you say is right on the mark.

Not to turn this contentious discussion into a love-in, but I just wanted to commend you on your articulate, (if agressive, irreverent, and nasty), posts that raise really good points without falling back on lazy, sound-bit driven trite. It's pretty cool to have worthy adversaries in a heated discussion.

Perhaps I was stretching in a previous comment I made when I tried to slam you for hypocrisy. I'll agree everyone is a hypocrit occasionally. I supose we all pick the topics that concern us the most to bring to the boards attention. So, while it doesn't negate what you have said, I still think it is occasionally worthwhile to point out SOME hypocrisy.

As a member of the community in question, I am somewhat obliged to "disagree" with you. Ideally with my brain when you are wrong, and often only with my heart when you are right.

Fight on.

(But dammit, it was a really good film!...)

well, believe me, i realize that you have a much tougher life than most and for that you have my empathy....life is certainly not any easier for this way of life

i also think that many of us are genetically predisposed to having a tendency to move towards this lifestyle, BUT also think that society/sexual history/family situation -- namely father figure play a role in how one matures sexually...and for most homosexuals, they had little to no choice in their sexuality whatsoever as these forces add up in their lives

the solution? well, i proposed that hollywood stop glamorizing this as it does not help people who are headed or leaning down this road....and for some that includes those who are married with families....keep in mind this is only a small part of a solution and that i also realize that there will always be homosexuals and those that are deserve as much if not more love and support as anyone...sure hollywood has freedom to show their films but i have freedom to express my views back at them and ask for responsibility....however, for some reason the ability to raise any kind of coherent, reasonable dissent is being taken away and instead the leftist media will protray those who dissent as fat white guy in suit with sign that says "God hates ______"

and its sickening for me to see the effects of all this daily....and its more sickening to see the leftist media and hollywood assault anyone who thinks there is something wrong with this lifestyle as people who have traditional morals are labeled as bigots but instead are not tolerated at all (and are victims of bigotry) as our way of thinking is banned time and again in classrooms, government, textbooks, medicine, science, whatever

what exactly is "hateful" that i posted?

more ridiculous accusation

unfortunately, i have to deal with very graphic REAL consequences of this disease DAILY so I am not sure how anyone jumps to any ridiculous psychological explanation when one exposes a little bit of reality

if anything, i am assaulting hollywood for promoting this lifestyle as something that it is not. as a result, many many people suffer as they are led down this road by its influence. obviously no one in here has discussed things such as being on the "low down". do any of you know what that is and how it is ruining families? or do you just think that being gay is all about happiness?

for those of you think this lifestyle is only about "romance" and "two guys holding hands" you obviously are oblivious and blind

How do you even start to talk any sense against crap like this?

You are one messed up man.

As for 'assulting Hollywood' and 'arguing' that life imitates art, then I assume that you would totally disagree with 95% of movies?
Previous Oscar winners?...
Million Dollar Baby...about a woman boxer? lol!! What rubbish, teaching all of our housewives to be violent thugs.

Lord Of The Rings...Witchcraft, black magic, using the word Lord in vain...tut tut.

Chicago...another flick about violent women. Should have been 3 minutes long, just enough time to see them hanged, applaud and leave.

A Beautiful Mind...'Glorifying' people with mental problems...now there's a desease worth fighting against!

Gladiator...Well, feeding Christians to the lions probably doesn't apeal to you at all...But it did have a couple of buffed male leads!!...oh, which leads me to Nosigar's comments about 'religion keeping the world in check' (or something along those lines)...pretty sure homosexuality was rampant in ancient Greece and Roman times, and they had one of the most orderly and advanced civilisations we've ever seen.

American Beauty!...where to start?! Voyeurism, underage fantasies, drugs....oh, actually this probably was an 'acceptable' film because the dirty fag got his whack in the end! (Even tho he wasn't of course)

...You know, you are dead right, movies...and for that matter plays, songs and everything else artistic is tearing apart the very fabric of our civilised society.

That gays are good and religionis bad is a way to attack the culture that does not support constant instant self-gratification, seems to me a very weak plan and very dangerous.

And no, Nosigar, I don't think anyone is saying 'Religion is bad'...Not that I'm able to speak for anyone else, but I'd suggest the majority of us are saying that 'gays' are every bit as normal and productive members of society as you, me and anyone else you care to mention, and religion is only bad when it's being 'used' by people who don't seem to have the brain power/common sense to work out that indeed 99% of ALL organised religions are about 'loving thy neighbour' and making the world a better place (which you yourself alluded to), not about picking out certain phrases and seeing yourself as 'doing god's work'.

Just remember folks, God don't want no queers, that's why we kill 'em here. [cue banjo's]

Wow, what a hot thread. Thanks, Dr. Freeze! Loved your header, "Fudgepack Mountain." Hehe. My opinion of the movie after seeing it? It's sad, and thought provoking. These two guys were in love, but they couldn't be together, so they were miserable. And (here comes a SPOILER, folks...) one of them gets beaten to death for being gay. I may be wrong, but I don't think this film will encourage kids to be "fruits." (How does that happen, anyway?)

I can appreciate a good gay joke just as well as the next nervous straight guy, but you owe it to yourself to actually see the movie before you start addressing the lynchmob.
