are you going to soak that bad boy?

I think she soaks it for like 3 days and frequently changes the water.

I imagine you've had these before. I love em.

eating these hams as far back as my days in the high chair..

redeye gravy....mashed potatoes.....green beans.....homemade cornbread..apple sause.

as a kid growing up in our house there would be slices for breakfast lunch and dinner in the frig a good amount of the time..

grandmother would make buttermilk biscuits and we throw slices on them w/mustard and out the door we go..

wife is from up North..ain't got a clue about great eatin'

she sends each of her family members a ham after I soak and cook one for us..

they each get the ham up in Minn. and don't soak the hams before cookin'

they say the ham's suck...I say no..just your cookin' skills.

EVERYBODY SHOULD KNOW HOW TO PREPARE SMITHFIELD HAM AND COLLARDS.

so they come down here a few years later and we soak and oven cook a fat one..

OH....that's the way it's supposed to taste..:SIB

Red eye gravy sounds good.....Years ago I caught my Great Aunt Francis pouring coffee into the gravy, she looked at me and said "don't you dare tell anyone'......:scared

we bought one several years ago...followed instructions for soaking...was still too salty and I like salt

I tried surprising everybody with a treat and cooked one myself about 10 years ago. Nobody could eat it because it was way too salty. My MIL even yelled at me for giving some to the dogs. :142smilie
