Will he ever answer a question put to him? How can any thinking human being vote for this person in November is beyond me. He is ducking, bobbing and weaving. He will not answer a question put to him. All he is doing is using this press conference to restate his agenda.

These reporters are throwing him softballs without following up when the slime ball bobs and weaves. He and Dick holding hands in front of the 911 commission. This is pathetic. How could this lying scumbag get elected. Yes, George, you have made mistakes. Admit it clown your killing Americans and Iraqis for bullshit reasons.

You know, GW, I agree with you. I wish Kerry was stronger. But for me as I think for many, Kerry is the lesser of two evils (for me, much lesser). Actually, I think Gore, if the timing was right, could have unseated whom I believe, is one of the worse presidents this country has ever had.

.......................................................................

If the reporters really played hardball they would most
certainly not be in a TV press conferance again for the rest
of their careers.

George W is really not one to say he made any mistakes thats for sure. The last mistake George W made was when he thought he made a mistake and found out later it was not a mistake.

That was absolutely horrible. I almost felt embarrassed for him when they asked 'what mistakes, if any, would you say that you made'. He replied that he wished he had a list of questions beforehand and then hemmed and hawed before he said that probably made some, but he just can't think of any off the top of his head.

I just wish this guy had some different 'advisors'. Cheney, Ashcroft, Rumsfeld, Perle, Wolfowitz etc run this country. This guy is a dupe and a puppet. You really get the sense that he's just spitting out rhetoric that has been fed to him.

Here's a newsflash to President Bush: There will never be our definition of 'freedom' (that he referred to at least 10 times) in Iraq. Never. He still doesn't get it.

He talked about how our occupation will 'change the world'. Wrong again. We cannot impose democracy on people that will never stand for it. Not possible.

That place will be a clusterf*ck from now until eternity. And if i'm wrong, it would only be because Iran (the shiites) eventually establishes order there and it turns into an arm of the Iranian government run by Islamic fanatics, like Iran. That, ironically, is the exact thing we were trying to avoid when we armed Saddam with chemical(and every other sort of) weapons to fight Iran back in the 80's.

Fletch,

Don't fawk up their bitch thread by placing facts in it. These guys obviously have no clue what kind of threats face our country. Typical left... thorough ignorance. I wonder who the terrorists want to win the election.

eddie,

al gore is the worst politician of our time.

gore's father was a very powerful politican for many years in tenn. & al was a senator from tenn. & yet he couldn't even carry the state in 2000.

don't you think that the people of tenn. knew something?

don't you think it was funny that as soon as gore endorsed dean, deans bid for the white house went into the toilet.

and as long as kerry has fat teddy as a mouth piece, he will never win the election.

and as long as jimmy carter is listed as a once president, nobody else will be considered the worst president.

eddy,

Please help me understand why this President should apologize for 911?.. What should he say?...

I'm sorry folks, I should have had a better handle on this but you're previous President was so consumed with getting his tallywacker sucked for the past 8 yrs, he was too pre-occupied.

Or

I'm sorry folks, the previous administration had cut back the defense budget so much they were using Diana Warwick's Psychic Friends Network, and well that stupid biatch just didn't see them plains commen....

Every living soul in this country took our security for granted prior to 911.. It's not GW fault or even cocktail Clinton?s fault that a group of radical, cave shiten, extremist crashed plains into our buildings. We must wake! People hate us!.. They hate what we stand for, always have, and always will

GW may not be able to complete a coherent sentence but I believe he will do what his says. He will protect this country

Kerry is a JOKE

It's sad that people still equate invading Iraq with fighting terrorism.

The fact that the greatest attack on our country in its history happened during a presidents watch does not give him unlimited freedom to occupy whatever countries he feels like with no regard to the utility to our country.

This is crazy and there is no end in sight.

I guess they just found in a shallow grave alongside the road the mangled, mutilated remains of four American contractors that were missing.

Even Dubya tonight said that terrorists were flooding in from other countries to do their thing. Ya think?

Big sassy,

Totally agree that it was not this admins fault in any way for 9/11. I guess i'm just questioning our priorities after that horrible day. Iraq should have been nowhere near the top of the list, but now we have nearly 15% of our entire military over there serving as human bullseyes with absolutely no hope of us ever turning that wasteland into any sort of democracy.

I guess i'll ask you, since nobody has even attempted to answer this question. How do you envision our exit and the aftermath of our exit?

I don't think we will ever see us leave that country. We will now and forever have military presence on the border of Iran. That is good news. That region needs stability..we are the dosage of medicine for peace in the Mideast. Nobody said this would be easy. GWB took a stand and he needs to be applauded for taking the fight to our enemies...He did not place his head in the sand.

makes an excellent point.......isn`t everybody tired of trying to play the blame game....after 9/11,everything changed...

the 9/11 commission is a sham....it`s an embarrassment.....particularly the idea that the commission has to interview individuals behind closed doors and in front of a television camera.....pure politics

there were numerous reasons for invading iraq(although it`s legitimately debatable whether or not it was warranted).....not just wmd`s....and after one year,to say the wmd issue is dead is a little short sighted....iraq is the size of texas....and i did read an article about bad things happening to some iraqi scientists....this issue may not yet be over....time will tell.....

but there is the issue of preemption(this guy attempted to build nuclear reactors with french and german help in the early 90`s)...the total disregard for u.n. mandates(the entire u.n. and our congress thought that wmd`s were there).....middle eastern stability(the war with iran...the invasion of kuwait.....the burning of the oil fields.....the gassing of the kurds...the mass murder...the attempt on bush sr`s life....the paying of suicide bombers......the attempt at building multiple nuclear reactors in the early 90`s).....the security of israel(does anybody think that bush or any american can use the security of israel to justify invading iraq?....only if you really do want a full fledged holy war on your hands)....even if the security of israel is tied directly to middle eastern and oil security.....the guy did lob scuds into israel(39 of `em) as they sat by with their hands folded during the gulf war....and the guy has proclaimed that he wants to destroy israel.....a full blown middle eastern holy war could have cataclysmic repercussions...

By Middle East correspondent Frank Gardner(april 2000)

""""""Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein has said his country could destroy Israel if it was given access to land next to the Jewish state.

On Wednesday, Iraq's state controlled newspapers carried the president's threat, which he made following the recent bloody clashes between Israelis and Palestinians.

Iraqis are calling the threat one of the strongest statements by Saddam Hussein in years.

An idle boast or a serious threat to Israel? With Iraq's unpredictable leader, it is hard to tell.

The government controlled press quoted the president as saying Iraq could put an end to Zionism in a very short time if only it was given a piece of land next to Israel.

That is highly unlikely to happen, but Iraq did physically attack Israel during the Gulf War nine years ago by firing 39 Scud missiles at the Jewish state.

Iraqis say the clashes over the last few days between Israeli forces and Palestinians have enraged their president.

Angry outburst

On Tuesday he was seen on television banging his fist on the table in anger, criticising Arabs for not doing enough in response to Israeli killings in the Palestinian territories.

He said the great people of Iraq were ready to destroy Zionism right now and he called on Arabs to brandish their swords and make the sacrifices needed.

Iraq has also been calling for a holy war to liberate Jerusalem from Israeli control. President Saddam Hussein has said Iraq did not need to wait for sanctions to be lifted before striking Israel.

The United States says it closely monitors Iraq for any signs of military activity, but United Nations inspectors looking for Iraq's alleged weapons of mass destruction have not been in the country for nearly two years now. """"""

and lets be honest...oil security IS a valid reason for any action necessary...

what`s unforgivable is that the administration just isn`t laying out their case totally.....i can make a better argument for invading iraq than they seem to be making...

and, undertaking such a monumental task either without having an endgame and/or totally misreading the extent of insurgency that might result is incompetent.....i hate to say it,but it`s true...

i also read that rumsfeld claimed that we knew where the wmd`s were.....what a blunder....how long did the damn u.n. debacle drag on?.......plenty long for saddam to hide or ship the damn things out....

in my humble opinion, iraq will never be turned into a democracy.....or at least, not for long.....

but,it is time that we take the fight to the terrorists....i applaud gwb for keeping america safe after 9/11(for now) and taking the fight to the terrorists...even if fighting terrorism is a very small part of any rationale for regime change and occupation in iraq......

p.s....i think gore`s a clown but the guy did invent the internet...:brows:  ;)

kosar,

I'm afraid this is just the beginning. It concerns me to think about it...

We will have a military presence in Iraq for years. Maybe longer if we get hit here at home again. My anger and frustration exist on many levels.. In one hand I have 3 children and I'm afraid of what this may turn into if we as a nation do not keep our resolve. On the other hand(the one I joff with) I'm all for having a theatre in Iraq, a front to take on the terrorist flooding in from other countries, a presence in that part of the world just to let them know that we can be anywhere we want to be.

It's a no win situation Kosar and its going to be ugly... But if we get attacked real bad at home again (dirty nuke).

"It?s ON"!

Here is your alternative Eddie. A direct speaking--tunnel vision--leader.:142smilie

And there are occasional gaffes. Last week, Kerry referred to the radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr as a "legitimate voice" in Iraq during an interview on National Public Radio. "Well, let me change the term legitimate," Kerry quickly added, noting that al-Sadr had taken on a far more radical tone and aligned himself with terrorist efforts.

and a little on the tax issue you might find interesting---especially since the highest income your daddy Slick Sr every reported as an attorney before reading PT Barnums biography and going into politics was $36,000

Note you won't find this article in liberal media as it is supported by facts ;)

Overall, I think the President did a better than average job. I would probably give him a B or B- on the whole night. He had to handle some really awkward questions from some obviously slighted reporters. The question about your biggest mistake was a complete joke. How is one supposed to answer that question? If the President would have mentioned one thing, his opponents and media oppositions would have had a hayday with what he DIDN'T say was his worst mistake. I think he failed with this question with giving it any response at all.

The one question that I would have liked to seen him answer was why he and Cheney are appearing together. His advisors should have had him prepared for this question, IMO. It was quite obvious that the reporter from the Post that asked the question absolutely despises Bush.

I also thought it was bad reporting to not ask a single question about how things are here in this country. I don't recall a single domestic issue being brought up.

The one thing I don't get about this thread is what your thoughts on political answers when it comes to the other side. Did Bush avoid answering some questions? Of course, that is what politicians (and lawyers) do. It doesn't matter if they are Republican or Democrat, politicians simply do not answer tough questions. That's how they get to high level positions.
