i won big...you lost...again,you couldn`t find your way out of a closet with your hand on the doorknob...

I lost? How...LOL wow.

Found a long time ago that anyone who needs cute phrases and 1 liners to argue their point, or more importantly, needs to take the attack angle, merely has no ground to stand on. Move along...

Make sure you post ALL THE RULES, when posting the rules....

A fumbled ball may be recovered and advanced by either team (except, in American football, after the two-minute warning in either half or 4th down, when the fumbling player is the only offensive player allowed to advance the ball, otherwise the ball is ruled dead at the spot of recovery if the ball bounces backwards or spotted at the point of the fumble if the ball travels forward). It is one of two events considered to be turnovers, where possession of the ball can change during play.

Under American rules a fumble may be confused with a muff. A muff occurs where a player drops a ball that he does not have possession of, such as while attempting to catch a lateral pass or improperly fielding a kicking play such as a punt (you can't "fumble" a loose ball). The result is the same and most announcers will still call it a fumble. Ball security is a term used to describe the ability of a player to maintain control over the football during play and thus avoid a fumble.

Dude come on BUCS....this is from an offensive stand point...where does it say a defensive player can not advance the ball?
So if that ball was on the Steelers 10 and LT had a backwards pass thrown to him off target the Steelers couldnt advance that ball for a score to win the game?? Or am I missing something

Digest of Rules Main

Backward Pass
Any pass not forward is regarded as a backward pass. A pass parallel to the line is a backward pass. A runner may pass backward at any time.
A backward pass that strikes the ground can be recovered and advanced by either team.
A backward pass caught in the air can be advanced by either team.
A backward pass in flight may not be batted forward by an offensive player.

Have you not ever heard of the 4th quarter or 2minute rule?

I know it's from the offensive stand, read where it talks about a lateral. It cannot be advanced, but can be turned over.

from former NFL ref Jerry Markbreit

Under NFL rules, there is no lateral pass. A pass is either forward or backward, and, if a ball is thrown laterally, it is considered a backward pass, and anyone on either team has the right to recover and advance.

i was one of those guys that laughed at folks that always cried "fix"......

this sure changed my p.o.v.....

I have been laughed at soooo many times for saying this has been pre determined in many ways. Obviously the refs cannot predict a game but they sure can make points go on or come off the board at will. ST LOUIS was going to cover the 2nd half come hell or high water.... A fumble that happened today by ST LOUIS was picked up by SF and ran for 10 yards.... SF BALL. RIGHT? Well SF and St Louis' offense units BOTH come on the field.... Now with SF up 35-3, SF left off the field and didnt challenge. On the NEXT play a ST LOUIS receiver catches a 29 yd pass that is out of bounds and called out of bounds; incomplete. Next thing you know, another ref runs over and changes the call. SF's coach says enough is enough; challenge; we all look at the replays and it is CLEARLY out. Decision: CALL STANDS. GOOD CATCH. Ends up being another 3 pts. 10 pt swing there for the 2nd half and it threatened my under 2nd half (which I did win luckily)....

I think this year that the refs are getting sloppy and blatantly arrogant on what and how much power they have. And it really takes away from the game. I think my MOM was the only person that thought what happened at the end of the Pitt game didnt matter since Pitt won either way. The rest of us KNOW BETTER.

Glad my MOM still believes its just a game and that the better team wins. Period. God bless Her.

the game should have never come down to that call, but it was utter horse shat.

i just saw the replay and there was nothing there but 2 backward laterals. that was a TD, plain and simple.

t-total shat.

my money was on TN today, the refs gave jax 1 td, but it wasn't enough !! :toast:

Under a mask.
Im just saying as a non-gambling issue ,the game wasnt effected.I know many people were effected cause of wagering.Be interested to see what side had most money ,or was it close to a even split?

Ive gambled many years ,and have determined that ,yes you might have a good year, but in the end you will be in the red. This game had no effect on my wallet whatsoever.

I didn't watch the whole game, but what made me interested was the fact that the referee looked like he a a red dot from a sniper scope on his head the whole time he was making that call. I've never seen a ref look that confused or nervous.

I don't know, maybe I'm reading it wrong, who knows. I really don't care about the game, other than I hate Pittsburgh and they won.

However, why the personal attack at me. I thought all us guys over in the MMA forum were friends?

this is what you said...

"Honestly, if you guys are complaining about a loss because of a forward pass at the end of the game, then you need to not blame the call, but your capping skills. It was a miracle and luck that it came to that point anyway.

I had no bet on the game, so don't tell me I'm picking sides.

Like AGENT would say, pull your socks back up and try again next week."

some guys took a horrible beat on(at best) a totally bogus(at worst),possibly fixed call with no time left on the clock and were venting their frustrations...

you went into several threads with what sounded like a sanctimonious, mean spirited smack down...i don`t know why you decided to rub salt in the wound...i mean we`ve all been there many times...i certainly wouldn`t do that to my fellow posters....,but that`s how it sounded....

if i misunderstood your post,i profusely apologize...
