Ordered a hot water heater from Lowe?s and they sub out the installation so sent a plumber out to see what was needed for the installation.

Guy tells me I don?t need a new HWH I only need an element replaced. $100 instead of $800-$1000 for a new unit installed.

Why would he tell me this? He basically killed a sale to Lowe?s and took on a smaller installation job for himself.

He was honest to me and dishonest to Lowe?s? After he left I?m wondering why he would do this.

On the course!
To answer the question, if the plumber owns his own business, the act was in his best interest. You certainly will use him in the future, because you figure he's a straight shooter. And, you'll tell your friends.

Maybe. But he was dishonest to Lowe's. When does he start being dishonest to me?

A married woman cheats on her husband and leaves for the new guy. What makes him think she will always be honest to him? She won't.

Honest. He didn't charge you for something you didn't need

That was my initial thought but he wasn't honest with Lowe's. I shouldn't be overthinking this but I have plenty of time for these things.

It's not his job to convert the deal that was made, it's his job to install a new "water heater" for Lowe's. I really appreciate the guy's honesty to me and he will be the plumber I call if I ever need plumbing services. Lowe's probably doesn't see it that way. I'm not complaining at all.

If I make a deal for advertising on madjacks and have IE contact them for the details of what we're doing for them, I don't need IE to tell them that he'll send out newletters for $50 a month instead of them paying me $xxxxx for a year.

let's look at it this way, you buy the water heater from Lowe's, you hire a plumber to come over and hook it up, and your plumber says, "you only need a replacement part for the old one".

So now, you send the new heater back to Lowe's and get a refund. What's the problem?

Think about taking your car into the shop for what you think is a problem. Now this problem will run about 800 to $1,000 to fix and you tell the mechanic you are willing to pay that.

Now, the mechanic has one of his guys look at your car and he decides the problem is a simple fix for $150.

Now, did the employee fuck the owner? I don't think so.
