I was just thinking about you this morning and almost texted you but forgot. If Betty had hit a royal on that $25 VP machine she played by accident, she would have hit for $100K. :scared

The ladies would have cashed and left town without telling us, they would have thought it was illegal

Oh yeah, they were scared that they did something wrong as it was by getting paid too much on trips.

Then they go back and can't figure out why the machine won't work after they put a $20 bill in there so ask for help. "Ummm, ma'am, you are on a $25 machine. This is the high limit room". :00hour

No one acted dishonestly here. In fact, everyone acted with integrity.

You made an minor and honest error in thinking you needed a new water heater.

HD sold you one as requested.

The installer informed you that you didn't need one.

Accordingly you returned said heater and purchased a much smaller part instead.

You returned the water heater to HD's inventory for a future sale.

No one acted unethically or dishonestly. Quite the opposite.

People return things to HD that they find they don't need all the time, its part of their business and they understand that.

I doubt HD want people to buy things they don't need. They have enough of a market selling to people who need stuff. They retain their client base (partially) by accepting returns and understanding that's part of their overall business.

All honest parties, all acted appropriately.

Just like when I try to cap the Thursday night NFL game, I believe you are overthinking this one Jack.

The plumber is dishonest

he is not supposed to take Lowes accounts

Doubt Lowes uses him again when the unit is returned. So hope it is worth it in 10 yrs when Jack needs another water heater;.

the plumber is not supposed to hand out cards or drive a marked vehicle with his name

Exactly. Lowe's got him the job and he took it from them. Now he'll probably make the same on the element installation that Lowe's would have paid for the WH installation and he has an easier job to do for himself. He won't have to pick up a WH and haul it over here and haul it down to my basement. The guy is acting like he's doing me a favor but he's doing himself a favor.

You hit it right on the nose, KOD.

I knew something wasn't right. Why would he be doing me a favor?

Jack, I just contacted your local Lowes and explained the situation to them.....The good news, they felt bad and will sending over new water heater tomorrow free of charge....The bad news, you'll need to find someone to install the unit as they seem be a little short handed right now for some reason......:0008

I think you're wrong, Jack.

KOD definitely is. WTF is the guy supposed to drive to the job? A fucking bike? KOD? I thought you knew all about sub-contracting? When a sub comes in, he's in his company vehicle.

Ordered a hot water heater from Lowe?s and they sub out the installation so sent a plumber out to see what was needed for the installation.

Guy tells me I don?t need a new HWH I only need an element replaced. $100 instead of $800-$1000 for a new unit installed.

Why would he tell me this? He basically killed a sale to Lowe?s and took on a smaller installation job for himself.

He was honest to me and dishonest to Lowe?s? After he left I?m wondering why he would do this.

A. Who decided you needed a new water heater? You? Because you had no hot water?

B. Why did you not ask a reputable plumber before you shell out 400-1500 dollars for a new heater? (My guess is $1000 range because you want the best and expect to pay for best). How did you know what you wanted or needed before you ordered from Lowes? Sounds like cart before the horse and the horse showed up and saved you money.

C. Plumber that came to install gave you info you needed from question B above. He was honest with you. Why are you challenging this in your head? Thank the fact you have the honest plumber, and not the one that found something "else" you might need while on the job installing Lowes water heater you bought unless you are leaving out part of the beginning of the story.
