Hello
My wife gets upset with me, but when I see my 8 th grader play sports...at least 70% are crazy!!!
The parents that cheer COMPUSLIVLEY... and are sore losers are the worst!!!
How do you deal with it ???
I usually say something eventually, but my wife says (I end up lower myself to them, and shouldn't complain)
But when I see a CLOWN parent yelling AIRBALL every time a kid shoots and other negative things during Middle school basketball(up to 8 th grade...I have a PROBLEM)

Any suggestions??? My wife has talked to them about being so negative, but it helps for about 10 minutes.

I also have problem with fans using F Word continuously while I take my son to games(MLB)...Again you talk to the person (hopefully no fight in front of kids)
You look at guy while he continually cusses but won't stop until you say something(and unfortunately continues a short time later)
Fans say what you want, but if kids around you don't have to say FUCK every other word.

Sorry...Just venting, I know alchohol might have something to do with it,but mostly not

Havnt really seen anything that ridiculous...yet. My favorite is yhe everyone gets a trophy mom telling her child "nice try" after not being able to do basic routine things at 8th grade. Dropped pop-ups, missed simple ground balls, letting someone drive past you for a layup without effort, etc. Maybe its me, but diving and trying to make a tough play deserves a "nice try", not a dropped infield can of corn. Thus far I've managed to keep quiet.

Why do you care that a mom says nice try? Good thing you've managed to keep quiet, or you would be the obnoxious guy referenced in the title of the thread...

I would definitely give my two cents at my kids middle school game... high school not so sure... However at professional sporting events fans can say whatever they want imo. If you don't like it you take your kids and go somewhere else.

I'm not talking about acting like raider fans and picking fights with other fans and acting like a bunch of animals...

I'm just saying there's no prblem with throwing a few f bombs every half inning or when someone's sitting at the free throw line... That's all I'm saying...

You play to win the game...I will be the obnoxious parent when my kids get older

As far as MLB games I go too, I have not heard any foul language or any thing like that so I can't comment on that part.

I would recommend you watch the south park episode where they are trying to lose their baseball games so they don't have to play any more. It's great therapy to get a good laugh. Pay close attention to
Randy stans father who gets in fights at all his kids games.

Vanished into vortex
I end up being THAT guy more than I want (which I want to never), but I allow myself to get provoked and end up responding to stuff I should let go.

Poor officiating tends to work me up only because I know how hard the kids work and I just wonder what the hell a referee sees to make such horrible calls. I get it, they aren't going to get every call, but they aren't volunteers either so they should know the rules at the very least.

How you can miss a kid offsides by 5 yards I just have no idea, until I see said referee get in the car with that kids family for a ride home........

I really am going to work on not letting it happen next season as it will be my kid's last.

Yeah this one is tough for me because I'd be commenting from the perspective of someone who doesn't have kids. But I also have a lot of friends with kids who are sports fans and they take their kids to the games and while they don't teach them to cuss or do bad things, they embrace it as teaching points. As one of my good buddies always says, "They'll be doing this when they get older so I might as well teach them right while young." :mj07: Everyone spends a lot of $ to attend professional sporting events. Telling someone to stop cursing is never going to go over well. I'm usually pretty reserved and chill when I'm at sporting events. I enjoy the entertainment and quite frankly, the drunks around are quite entertaining as well.

As far as the parents telling Johnny good job for the 19th place trophy and good effort for that terrible attempt at a bunt, welcome to modern America. Where you get rewarded for accomplishing as little as possible. And we wonder why all these athletes are buddies and laughing and dapping up during/after games. The competitiveness isn't the same from top to bottom. Back in the 70s/80s/90s you had scrubs who were ultra competitive just because thats how they were. Now it's socially acceptable for those same type of players to not give a great effort and we really only criticize the great ones for lack of effort.

I have two nephews 10 and 11 who participate alot with the older being really good actually. So I have seen alot over the last few years and man if I was a coach and had to hear all the comments and parents coaching their kids from the sidelines, including my own brother, I would lose my fucking mind. I can understand bleedingpurple. I would go off and say 'I am the fucking coach, get out of here!'. Secondly, the bitching of the refs. Like you don't make mistakes in your every day life. Ok, they missed a traveling call. It didn't cost you a $500 in a NBA game did it?
