WVSSAC Class AA 4 pm

Fairmont Senior -6
Bluefield 56

2 units on Bluefield +6 LOSS FS: FS 23 B 13

2 units on the Over 56 LOSS *Well that was an exercise in futility

I'm going to run with the defending West Virginia AA Champs Bluefield Beavers.... This game is a rematch from last year when Bluefield escaped with a 29-26 victory. Fairmont Sr is led by returning Sr QB Connor Neal who has put the hurt on his Schools Single Season record book by passing for a whopping 3,432 yards w/45 TDs.... He is a leading candidate for WV Football top award Kennedy Award (won last year by Beaver TB Mookie Collier).... This year's team has 3 RBs with st least 13 TDs.... RB Jamere "Juice" Edward's has 1,112 yards w/14 TDs on the ground... Fellow RBs JJ Davis (1,347 yards) and Arnold Martin (863 yards w/13 TDs)... It's a 3 headed monster running out of a Power I......

Both teams are a contrast in styles with Polar Bears (someone needs to explain to me how a school in WV comes up with a Polar Bear as their Mascot) and their high flying passing game vs run it down your throat Beavers (averages 10.6 ypc)... Should be a good one, but I have to question how much resolve the Polar Bears might have after losing in the State Title game last 2 years and 0-5 in all State Title tries.....Both Defenses are similar with Div 1 recruits sprinkled throughout both rosters.... FS D only allows 8.9 ppg and Bluefield allows 8 2..... I guess this could be a defensive struggle however both offenses have play makers....

Both teams FG kickers are perfect on the season with FS K (Frankie Smith 4 for 4 with long 39) and Bluefield (K Parris 6 of 6 for long 42).....

Bluefield could win this game but it may go down to the wire again.....

Good Luck with your pick, really like this game over.

Really like Wheeling Central tomorrow, a local team, playing at home. Beat Willaimstown 33-0 to start the season.

Thanks.... Still working on those but will take into account your thoughts.... WV HSF is a bit foreign to me... Do they actually play out on a island?

Utah +4'........ 5 u.. LOSS *Kinda a contrarian play on this one especially since Utes already dropped a loss to Wash by 14 and Utes Starting QB and RB are out, I actually like this Frosh QB Shelley to make things interesting with his legs..... Wash really needs to re-prepare for him, and face it, Husky ATS record this season has been abysmal... Love Utah D to get some pressure on Browning as Husky OL has been horrid.... Leaning to the Under but like the Mac Championship, I'm going to wait until halftime to see if there's any value

Wash HSF 3A Championship... Tacoma Dome

7:30pm
O'Dea 53
Eastside Catholic -7

2 units on Eastside Catholic -7 WIN
Lean to Under FS: O 13 E-C 31

*Hard to pass up on this number on the Crusaders who are 11-1 and have a average margin of victory of 29.5 points.... This is the 8th Season under HC Jeremy Thielbahr who is 89-12 in his tenure and his 5th State Title Appearance...4 Star recruit Jr RB Sam Adam's II has 860 yards w/21 TDs and leads a platoon of talented players peppered throughout the roster... Opposing Coaches state this is perhaps the most talented rosters in Washington HSF History... Nice Accolades although HC thinks winning the Title is most important tonight... He has 13 players with a combined 107 College Offers (including 98 from Div 1 programs).... Crusaders last won the Title in 2014 & 2015.

Not many people giving the defending State Champs O'Dea much of a chance here although the spread doesn't really reflect that.... HC Monte Kohler is a legend in Washington HSF Circles and he's in his 34th season (335-54)...This is his 10th trip to the Title game and 3rd in a row... O'Dea also has some Div 1 talent and the program is a run first philosophy with old school lessons intermixed... Top RB Mark Tafia has 898 yards w/11 TDs but there is a platoon of RBs that each have at least 100 yards..... Sr QB Emonte Scott is in his 3rd consecutive state title appearance...

Both schools know each other well and both are private schools and rivals from the same league.... E-C won the league meeting 31-13.......This is the 3rd consecutive season the programs have met in the regular season #1 & #2 in the State....... While O'Dea has a legend coaching his boys up, I'm not sure that it will make much difference tonight.....

*Just to get my California plug in, Eastside does have an opening loss to Oaks Christian in Southern CA 35-12.

WV Class AAA Champ... Wheeling Island

9 am
Spring Valley 67
Martinsburg -2'

2 units on Spring Valley +2' LOSS

3 units on Under 67 WIN FS: M 31 SV 7

*Sometimes you simply have to take what the High School Football Degenerate God's give you...**I'll explain a little later..

Martinsburg Bulldogs have been the gold standard of Class 3A Football in the State for a while now... Team is on a State Record 41 game win streak which also is 6th best in the country... Bulldogs HC David Walker won his #289 win last week making him the All Time Winningest Coach in West Virginia History.... Team is looking for its 7th State Title in 9 years.... Although the program lost 18 players from last years Championship team, HC Walker just reloads.... The Offense averages 53.9 ppg while only allowing 9.2.....The two time defending State Champs are looking for a 3-peat..... The Defense has only allowed 17 TDs in 13 games (6 TDs were in a 50-45 win to Sherando of Virginia)... The offense is lethal with a Read Pass-Option Attack with split duties by Sr DB/QB Grant Harmon having rushed for 758 yards and 1,404 pass yards w/37 TDs *The 2 time All State Defensive Back... Shares QB Duties with Jr Elijah Banks having passed for an additional 1,236 yards w/15 TDs... Only 5 INTs between the two.... Returning WR Chelo Tenoval has 542yards on 29 catches w/8 TDs... RB Naieem Kearney has rushed for 1,136 yards.... WR Jarod Bowie has 46 catches for 806 yards w/13 TDs.

Spring Valley Timberwolves are also undefeated at 14-0...This is the first time since 1947 when the SSAC started sponsoring games that the same two teams have met for the 3rd consecutive years in the State Title game.. .. Dynamic Sr RB/WR/SS Graeson Malashevich (*Leading candidate for the Kennedy Award given to the States Top Player, He has rushed for 850 yards while catching 34 passes for 892 yards w/25 TDs..... He averages 25.9 yards per catch with 14 of 34 receptions going to the beach... WR Nate Ellis averages 24.3 yards per catch with 5 of 13 also going to the end zone... QB Will Adkins has passed for 17 TDs (46 of 73 passes for 1,058 yards w/17 TDs)...RB Owen Cuafin has rushed for 1346 yards.... HC Brad Dingess philosophy is to ram the ball between the tackles and this year's squad is huge with bookend OTs Zach Williamson (6'6" 303 lbs) (Louisville commit) and Doug Nester (6'7" 312 lbs) (Ohio St) controlling the LOS, the OL is gigantic with 4 possible Major D1 recruits. (Timberwolves rush for 300 yards per game on 50+ carries ...... The Defensive Line is equally big and has only allowed 23 TDs in 13 games (including 9 games against State Play-Off teans.... They only allow 182 total yards per game....

So it begs the question, is this SVT year? Or will Bulldogs keep the status quo? Martinsburg has played 8 WV AAA teams and beaten them by average score of 57-5....The Bulldogs balanced offense averages 245 yards on the ground and 203 through the air... Unfortunately, Spring Valley has got to be feeling owned in the series... Last year, Bulldogs clobbered 44-16.....the year before it was a 49-7 woodshack in which resulted in the first running clock in the 4th quarter in a State Title game...

Here's the thing...... I guess I'm a sucker for gargantuan OL as I was one myself.... That's why I'm backing SVT to break the cycle.

Better yet, the total at 67 is absurdly high as I found out (a game to late) that the field at Wheeling Island is in poor shape due to excessive moisture and rain that swamped the turf..... Both teams may have to resort to their run games as the poor field conditions should affect the skill positions but are a OL/DL dream..... I also think this will negate Bulldogs team speed and that should be an advantage to Spring Valley..... Both Defenses are strong..... With forecast calling for 100% rain, I'm loving the Under here and will play the later game Class A game between Wheeling Central Catholic/Williamstown too...

Wheeling Central Catholic -17'
Williamstown 53

2 units on Wheeling C-C -17' WIN FS: WCC 44 Will 15

3 units on the Under 53 LOSS... *Screwed up some nice parlays

Going to take ManofWar advice on Wheeling Central Catholic Maroon Knights (mouthful).... Like mentioned these two hooked up on opening week with WCC besting Williamstown 33-0.....The defending State Champs seem to be clicking at the right time... Last week in the Semis, WCC trounced Doddridge County 47-7 (a team that the Yellow jackets lost to in regular season 14-7)....HC Mike Young has his Starting QB back from last year, Jr Curtis McGhee (has combined for 2,853 yards pass-run w/41 TDs... The dual threat QB (6'2" 185 lbs) should be taking off a lot tomorrow on the flooded artificial turf..... The offense is balanced with average of 186.2 yards pg rushing and passes for 194.5 yards.... Sr WR Anthony Robbins (6'3" 190 lbs) has 871 yards receiving...... HC Mike Young has guided the Maroon Knights to its 10th Title game since 2000....he has won 9 of them.... WCC has faced Yellowjackets 4 times in Title Games (he's 4-0)

Williamstown is 12-2 this season and Jr RB Donathan Taylor leads the way with 1,399 rush yards w/18 TDs... SR QB Carter Haynes has passed for 19 TDs.... Yellowjackets won the State in 2014 & 2008.....Williamstown has been to the final dance 7 times and won two... They hate the Maroon Knights and the whole town turns out for a major tailgate on the day of the game (better bring their umbrellas)

Think this score could be a repeat from earlier in the season.... Again, better cash in on the Under as the field will be in miserable condition by the time these two meet.

Wash Class 1A Champ Tacoma Dome

10am
Newport 44
Colville -10'

These two league rivals face off in the Championship as Colville Indians helmed by HC Randy Cornwall (21 years) with 141-90 record strap it on to Newport Grizzlies, 11-1 and making their first ever State Title Appearance... Actually, it's their 3rd time in the State Playoffs since the school started football....

Colville beat Grizzlies fairly handily 28-7 in the regular season but it should be noted that Newport was without their starting dual threat QB Adam Moorhead... RB Danny Bradbury has rushed for 1,159 yards w/16 TDs.... Team has navigated the playoffs despite a #10 seed and is clearly a different team.

Colville QB John Knight (6'2" 190 lbs) *A State Wrestling Champ, is also a dual threat completing 75 of 135 passes for 1,674 yards and 83 carries for 398 yards w/23 Total TDs.... RB Jakob Larson has rushed for 19 TDs with 1006 rush yards... The Defense has been solid holding all League opponents to a TD or less.. The Blue collar Double Wing Offense loves to churn out yards while controlling the clock.... Colville returned 14 starters from last year's League Champ.

So why am I backing Newport here? I'm grabbing the points because although the earlier loss by 21 points, I think having their starting QB should be a big difference.... Last year, Colville beat Newport in league 28-14 but were avenged in the quarterfinal as Newport went on to Semis... Colville upset the #1 Seed last week against Royal (31-28)...Royal had a nation leading 53 game win streak come to a head, so I'm expecting a possible Hangover and let down........ Newport can keep this close.

2 units on Newport +10' LOSS FS: Col 48 New 7

2 units on the Over 44 WIN

Oh yes... Wheeling Island

Oh yes... Wheeling Island

Martinsburg 41 straight games including b2b state titles over Spring Valley. So, what did Spring Valley do? They went out and got some skill players that are fast and can stretch the field. Obviously, I want to play the team that has won 41 straight but Coach Dingess is the most dangerous kind of dog... You have shown him the finish line and how to get to it and this year is finally the year he gets his bone. This game was the last game of the year and we all knew it from week 1. There was not going to be a doubt. Last week when SV spanked Capital it just seems inevitable. Gone are Martinsburg stud QB who won b2b state titles, the huge linemen that could change a game and now there are nice players but just dont think there are enough to slow this SV team. 67 is a huge number but not one I can comment on.

Spring Valley Moneyline +260
Spring Valley is now a 8.5 point underdog so I played some at +8.5 also. THis line has moved so much

The other game is just a tough game. The line is a solid number. Wheeling Central is the tiny private school who recruits the kids that allows them to win. They are good and they spanked Williamstown 33-0 earlier this year. Williamstown are on a run... They spanked Midland Central last time out to set up this rematch. It is going to be a hard hitting small school championship and something tells me its going to be tight. I could see it 28-22 just as easily as 27-10 so... Hard for me to pick a side. Think the line is about right. I do like the under.

I am most likely going to skip Washington as I have so much on my plate today.

My Nephew played in the Kentucky Class A state championship yesterday. Unfortunately they came up just short 21-20 but the kids played their heart out. Damn, I love high school ball. College used to be like this... I think that is why I like betting the small college.

Have a great day guys

Wow..... Interesting stadium... I was trying to read up on it last night and people were saying how it's a great locale for the WV Champ...... Some say it's one of the best in the state.

Evidently it's been raining there Cats and Dogs and the flooding is creating havoc.... The WVSSAC has already spent thousands trying to dry up the field but it's so waterlogged that the artificial turf is a swamp in places.... Several areas are brown and wet.....

Obviously I wish I had learned that tidbit last night before the Fairmont Senior game as I would've hammered the Under instead of throwing dead money at the Over in that type of situation.

I don't believe that the book has accounted for the field conditions so I'm happy with the Unders..... Of course, anything can happen in a HSF game, but a sports gambling rule of thumb 👍 that an old gambler taught me 30+ years ago always bet the UNDER in the rain.....Bet the Over in the Snow.... Shall see what transpires

I think you are referencing JSU game vs KSU... The game was not a track meet it went to 5 Overtimes!

Spring Valley self destructed in the first half and have given up in the 2nd half. The reason? Martinsburg are just so much more disciplined. Not even close.

Wofford vs KSU should be plaued under 2 hours... Should be hard hitting fun.

:mj17: 😂...... Yep 5 OT will do it... I'm an idiot...Let's get that Under.

Have you watched the Martinsburg game? Im really curious what current field conditions are..... Looks like that game is going to stay safely Under... I may grab some more Under on the Wheeling game... I noticed the game is scheduled for a 4 pm start and would bet that the reason is to give the Stadium Field extra attention to dry and drain the water....... They need a field like OSU in Corvallis, Oregon.... The field is artificial turf that bows and reminds you of playing on a trampoline... I would always have our strength/conditioning Coach tape our Vertical and record as our numbers would always be 3-5 inches higher..... That field was a trip but even in the rainy Northwest Oregon it always stayed dry

Duquesne TT Over 17....4 u

Montana St TT Over 10'....4 u *Don't get me wrong I don't see MS pulling off the upset here but -28 is a ton of points and MS will be right at home playing in the cold and wet climate.. RB I Ifanse carried last week 30 times against Incarnate Word for 157 yards and I'm sure he will get the same amount of carries today..... He's a danger to take it to the house, so here's hoping he can have a nice day.....

Yep,

Yep,

I watched all the Martinsburg game....
There is mud but the field is in good shape. The kids are having more trouble with the cold and moisture in the air. Footing is not bad. I am playing the limbo tonight but field has a little to do but more the teams.

Wash 2A Champ

Lynden 60'
Hockison -1

2 units on Hockison -1 WIN FS: H 42 L 37

2 units on the Over 60' WIN

Starting shortly...... Hockison is defending State Champ... Lynden no slouch having posted 8 State Titles and 13 time in State Championship *Last was 2013

Both teams are fairly even... I expect lots of offense in this one as neither teams strength is their Defense... Hawks HC is in his 14th year (95-53)....My only concern is Hawks are without one of their top WRs (Peyton B rammer (6'4" 200 lbs) who is out with foot injury.. He has accounted for 1,013 yards receiving w/20 TDs.. Still, QB Levi Crum has 3,668 yards w/56 TDs (total) he has rushed for 516 yards.
