Detail: IC'S ROSE BOWL WINNER!
Pick: 3 units (Play of the Day) ATS: Illinois Fighting Illini +14 (-110)

In Ron Zook I trust. That's right, I trust Ron Zook. I wanted to take a look at how Mizzou was doing early on before I released this play as it is ballzy, but then again, so was FSU, and that cashed. I am always frank with you and this is no exception, this play very well could look like a terrible call. But, my focus is to always provide you with what I feel are the best plays (typically 3) on the board and the largest margins of covers and this game could provide an opportunity for Illinois to lose by 10 points or less. My spreadsheets show that Illinois will fall by 4 to 5 points today. But, more importantly, Ron Zook can fire up players like no other coach. He is that good in getting the most out of his players. Think about it, did you truly think that he can create this much havoc in the Big 10 bringing a fast paced SEC type of offense to the Big 10? What havoc you say? How about beating Wisconsin, Penn State and the National Title Contender Ohio State and losing to the likes of Missouri and Michigan - Missouri ranked 2nd in the nation in power rankings. Speed kills and Zook has it. He has a great rushing attack and a quarterback that is very mobile and even the associated press reports that gives USC trouble - look at the Washington game where they nearly lost or even at the Oregon game when Dixon gave them a headache. Juice Williams is no Dixon, but he has gotten better an dI believe Ron Zook has his players compete well today and I wouldn't be surprised if this is closer than most people realize as this Illinois team will wear the underdog tag well with a chip on their shoulder today in my opinion.

New Year's Day 3-0 card

700-Unit Sugar Bowl Sweet Call - HAWAII

Is Cinderella's slipper going to fit again? It did last year when Boise State jumped up and shocked Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl. Can Hawaii offer a repeat performance for the WAC?

The Warriors have a good offense and you know they'll have some fun in this game and there will be some trickery going on. But is it enough for them to get the win against the Bulldogs of Georgia? Probably not, but it's going to be a close, entertaining game and we don't need them to win outright, just stay within a touchdown.

And they will.

Hawaii QB Colt Brennan threw for 4,174 yards, 38 TDs and 14 INTs while completing 71.4 percent of his throws. The key is going to be the short passing game against Georgia. The Bulldogs have a strong pass rush and he's not going to be able to hold the ball long. Get rid of it quick to his speedy receivers.

The Warriors average 46.2 points a game while Georgia puts up 31.9. This game is going to be high scoring and we see something in the 45-41 range.

Georgia won its final six games of the season and recorded 25 sacks during the streak and its special teams are near the top of the SEC in every category. If the Bulldogs can get to Brennan and get a few cheap TDs on special teams, it'll be tough for the Warriors.

But we expect Hawaii to come out ready for this and they've had plenty of time to watch film and put in some kinks in the offensive gameplan to keep the Bulldogs at bay.

Grab the points and play Hawaii, then sit back and enjoy what should be a fun game.

200-Unit Bowl Smart Play - MISSOURI

Missouri had a great season and an unfortunate loss in the Big 12 title game is the only thing that kept this team out of the national championship game. The Tigers will come out today in the Cotton Bowl and destroy an Arkansas team that's in a state of disarray after losing its coach and getting Bobby Petrino as he ran from the NFL's Falcons.

The Tigers were sixth in the BCS final standings and have Chase Daniel at QB who threw for 4,170 yards (fourth in the nation), completed damn near 70 percent of his throws and had 33 TDs to just 10 INTs.

The guy is a leader and is not going to let his offense fail against Arkansas. Missouri puts up 492.7 yards of total offense every game, including 327.8 passing yards. They average 40 points a game and give up just 24.5.

Defensively the Tigers have been strong against the run all season, allowing just 118.8 rushing yards per game and they'll have to be strong today against the Razorbacks' Darren McFadden.

McFadden is the real deal and finished fourth in the country in rushing yards (1,725) this season. He'll get his yards, but they're going to be tough yards.

Daniel has a great weapon in WR Jeremy Maclin who leads the nation in all-purpose yards at 2,713. He's got three returns (two punts and a kickoff) for touchdowns this season and can stretch the field with his deep routes.

We love Missouri in this one because they are angry. Arkansas doesn't know much about next year's coach and all they've heard is how he quit on the Falcons. Play Missouri to get this one in a blowout.

100-Unit Hoops Big Shot - CINCINNATI

This is just way too many points to pass up on the Bearcats in this one. Louisville can't cover this many points on New Year's day, you know a day after they were out way too late with friends.

Plus the Cardinals haven't exactly been a money-making bet this season, going just 1-6 ATS in their last seven in the month of December. On the opposite side Cincinnati isn't winning games but they are cashing tickets, going just 1-5 SU but 5-1 ATS in their last six overall.

The Bearcats aren't winning, but they're hanging close and we expect much of the same today.

Look it's pretty simple, Cincinnati is on the road for this one so they spent New Year's Eve together as a team in a hotel. The coaches were there and everything was supervised. Louisville is at home and the players were around friends and troublemakers at parties that were definitely not supervised.

Now we are getting this many points with the Bearcats after a night like that? We'll definitely take it. Grab the points and play Cincinnati in this one. Again, the Bearcats don't have to win the game, just keep it respectable - and they will.
