OH brother this isn't good. WTF Barnett

Josh Barnett Likely Out of Affliction: Trilogy Headliner; Belfort Could Face Fedor
Posted by Kris Karkoski on Jul 22, 2009 at 7:32 am ET16 Comments

Fedor Emelianenko and Josh BarnettJosh Barnett will likely be unable to fight Fedor Emelianenko on August 1 in the main event of Affliction: Trilogy after the California State Athletic Commission reportedly failed to license Barnett for the fight for what is being called a ?positive test result.?

Sherdog was first to report the news early-Wednesday citing multiple sources, with Affliction not responding to requests for comment and the CSAC expected to issue a statement later today.

Barnett told Sherdog that he hadn?t yet heard anything about being ineligible for the fight.

According to the report, middleweight Vitor Belfort, who is scheduled to fight Jorge Santiago on the pay-per-view card, has agreed in principle to fight Fedor in place of Barnett. Belfort, the former UFC light heavyweight champion and heavyweight tournament winner, has won four-straight fights overall, including back-to-back middleweight wins over Terry Martin and Matt Lindland.

Heavyweight prospect Bobby Lashley is also under consideration as a replacement, but Lashley told Sherdog he didn?t know if he would accept the fight with Fedor on such short notice.

Well this just shows you how much Affliction stinks. When this happens in UFC they have decent guys to fill in last moment. Bash Dana all you want but when a fight goes to shit he finds guys to replace. Affliction would put Belfort in there? What:scared Or Lashley....what:scared

Everybody knows Affliction is done, this pretty much seals it. I mean at the very least put a HeavyWeight in there to fight Fedor. I mean shit.

And nice move Josh, not only is he over-rated, he's juiced and over-rated:mj07:

Bye Bye Affliction.....I said they'd never get to 5 shows, they might not get to 4:mj07:

This is very damaging to Affliction if Barnett is out.
Comical that Belfort would not move up 1 weight class to fight Mousasi but now will move up 2 weight classes to fight Fedor. 1 word:Money.
Would rather see Lashley tested by Fedor than Belfort. Lashley short notice, but should be thinking lets see where I stand and this is a hell of an opportunity. Doesn't seem to interested by reports though.

Are there any newcomer websites to watch past MMA fights on?

Or are the oldies still the best?

HMm, I learn something everyday. I didn't know the fighters where tested this far in advance of the fight, I thought it was on the night of the fights. This makes clearing any steroids out of your system but still getting the benefits a lot harder.(I'm assuming he tested for roids anyway)

Dawg, I think mmashare.com has almost every fight there has been.

Josh Barnett, well done buddy......:mj07:

He sure does like those "banned substances"....should stick to fighting in Japan where you can bring a syringe into the ring, lol!

Also.......every news source says Roids not ganja.

Prob same news sources that reported that Kimo died from drug related heart attack in Costa Rica tuesday... some say weed, some say juice. Probly both. CSAC is brutal but 90% of MMA inet news sources really arent worth a shit.

I am curious as to how in the hell Overeem was going to get licensed in Cali.
Not that it matters now that his fight is off, but Overeem is not fooling anybody.

Really can't seem to figure out ur fascination on seeing Affliction fail. You would think being an MMA fan you would want them to succeed but i guess the Dana love fess clears ur judgement on this issue. Nobody expects them to over take the UFC or even stay around forever but for the fans and the fighters this is the best thing that could happen. You get rid of Affliction we get shittier UFC cards. Maybe you have stock in the UFC or sumthing

Would rather Affliction bring in Kharitonov if he is not under contract with Dream or even Monson instead of Vitor.

Sponge.....disagree...once the morons at Affliction fail (won't reach Affliction 6) we can get some more quality fighters in UFC. Affliction deserves to fail with the moronic decisions these jokers make. I love to watch all MMA, and like small shows. But Affliction has made so many mistakes they deserve what they get. Some good fighters in Affliction and love to see em in UFC. So hurry up and fail Affliction so we can get better fights in the UFC. I mean not even at Affliction 3, enough already:nono:

Just "pull the plug" on this lousy excuse for an organization.

Also, does nothing for the fans when you try to say that Affliction has "the best heavyweights" (a load of elephant shit), yet you can't find a replacement for Fedor besides Belfort. Ummmm yeah....ok.

Affliction, just die already.

word

affliction seems like a fiasco

seems like the entire organization is run by fanboys, not real mma guys who could put together much better matchups for less money and build the affliction brand beyond the lameass shirts

they're overpaying for crap like what hbo is doing in boxing

Not sure Dana brings in many if any of the Affliction fighters if they go belly up.
Maybe he tries to get a few but not many.

Dana considers most either guys he doesn't want or guys who he objects to for fighting in Affliction.

I think most would wind up in Strikeforce.

What can they do dig up another ufc heavyweight champ for Fedor to demolish? Lets see if Rodgers steps up and i still would rather see Belfort/Fedor then Randy/Nog. Sure they have made mistakes but the bottom line is they put up two fantastic cards going against a gorilla of an organization in the UFC who tried to squash them every chance they had. What do u expect them to do take over right from the start? Maybe u are mad that they paid the fighters some decent money or sum shit like that and forced Dana to open the wallet a little wider? It is really bizzare that u say "die already" Do they offend u with their cards or is it ur hate for Fedor? It is honestly very strange with some of these things u say about this organization. Kinda like u want them to fail even more then Dana:shrug: Strange indeed.
