Local gun shops are booming

I understand the run on guns/ammo if you don't have any and you've decided that this COULD get to some scary apocalyptic scenario where you'll have to defend your home and family against intruders, but if you already have multiple guns and some ammo, what is it you are stocking up for?

Still thinking about this and here's what I came up with:

1. You shoot for sport and are worried the run on ammo will be depleted so you are trying to get in front of that
2. You envision a scenario where you might have to kill everyone in your neighborhood

I was wondering.

I bought some because I don't have any. Since they are limiting and/or selling out, I figured I would get some in case it comes to needing a loaded weapon.

Read an article about people getting robbed at gunpoint at some Walmart. What else is going to happen 2-3-4 months from now?

Yeah, I still don't quite get the logic. How many people are these guys planning to shoot?

Not a "preper" myself and have enough guns and ammo that if I need more the world as we know it is over. Having said that, I imagine the same mindset that tells a person to buy 96 rolls of toilet tissue comes into play here. There are also the hardcore guys that buy more every time a Democrat says they are coming after guns, regardless of type(not situation here but same reaction). Lastly, there are definite ammo shortages at times and this will result in another for quite some time. Most of those running and stocking up probably remember how long it took to find 22 Caliber rounds a few years back. For those that shoot their weapons for sport(specifically AR's), you can burn through a thousand rounds very quickly.
