I agree with gman. This was a plastic cup, not some DD batteries.

Eveyone is blaming the fans for coming on the court & that is wrong I agree all bets are off, but you have to remember the players went into the stands first, & that is wrong...therefore all bets were off...making the court fair domain.

Artest simply had no business doing that & personally I wish some Pistons fan would have put a shank in his side to really teach him a lesson & give him all the time off he wants. That is harsh, but I am just sick of this worthless human being.

O"Neal & Jackson should be arrested along with some fans.

You are just flat out way off base here. Amazing when everyone thinks your wrong you can't step back and look at a situation agian to re-evaluate it.

I am on the players side here and that has to be a first for me and the NBA, with the exception of Ben Wallace, if he doesn't WAY OVERREACT to a foul then none of this even happens.

I agree with most of you here and for the most part side with the players. I do think Artest is partly to blame for going into the stands in the 1st place though. Fine, he was it with a plastic cup with a beer in it. It sucks, but be a man. You are making millions of dollars playing a sport, suck it up and let the guy get thrown out. It's like when you're a kid and you're taught to be the better person and walk away. Instead, we've got thugs who don't care about their actions.

As far as that dude who went on the court, I mean he freaking cocked his fists at Artest. He got the assbeating he deserved. I mean, how in the fawk, after all this riot did the police let that fan just wander onto the court!? That's what blows my mind more than anything.

Players at fault

Players at fault

I noticed the players all went after wimpy guys who couldn't really defend themselves. The only guy who went after someone bigger than himself got his ass kicked big time. Artest major failure to hit the guy who actually threw the beer. He went after a guy who was 5'5" and 130 pounds. I know that piece of shit wouldn't of come in the stands and gone after someone his own size. Owners at fault for courtside seats. Nice cheapshot by O Neil on the Mexican guy who has a rough enough time wiping his ass after taking a shit more or less trying to defend himself from an athlete. Hmmm Artest doesn't do anything to a guy who tried to strangle him he goes after a guy who throws a beer cup. I want to see those Pacers go to the Coliseum in Oakland lets see there sorry asses after they went in the stands against those Raider Fans. Thank God for College basketball!

Unbelievable chain of events in Detroit. But the question we all should be asking is ............. How do you think Artest's new CD will go over in Detroit?

Your probalbly dead on here. I can't say Artest was horribly out of line for going into the crowd becasue many of us would react the same way, but if he stays put it doesn't escelate to what it did.

Wow

Wow

Came home last night after watching a good High School Football (15-14 Rebels) game and went to the basement to watch the rest of the Pacers game and relax ....wow. Wallace OVERREACTED to a soft foul..nothing flagrant.
--
The whole incident was Artests' fault he was laying on the scorers table and was open for a shot of beer from the fans, if he were standing on the court he wouldn't have been hit. :142lmao: I think your right Detroit Pistons executive. It was Artests' fault that Ben Wallace OVERREACTED. It was Artests' fault that a STUPID fan hit him with a Beer. It was Artests' fault that a fan was punching him from behind. It was Artests' fault that a big dude was punching Fred Jones from behind. It was Artests' fault that a chair was thrown at Jermaine O'Neil. It was Artests' fault that fans came onto the court to confront the Pacers' players. Artest should be suspended for the entire season! Its all Ronnie's fault. He is a punk for laying on the scorers table. No punks in Detroit other than Ron Artest, right?

Incredible. Too bad for the kids who attended this and for my kids who had to wake up to see this mess. Do you think I will take my kids to a NBA game after this? Terrible

not just this, obviously. Artest is a complete bum.
This guy is the epitome of what is wrong with American society/ mankind. It sucks that there will always be people like this. Too bad this asshole makes millions, undoubtedly grabs hot chicks, and is living out his dream, and then some. Cocksuckers like this thrive in what is a backward place - a place where thousands sleep on the streets, teachers make jack shit, rates of violence are high, etc. If you want to know the sad state of our nation, read the damn newspaper everyday. It's sad shit. Sports section is only reprieve. Too bad our elitists and idols are guys like this. String him up by the balls. dumbshit ugly punk. sorry, 2 cents

I have mixed feelings......part of me thought it was a disgusting act by everyone, yet there's this aura of excitement and emotion surrounding the whole thing that made it very watchable. Everyone surely gave their all.
It just doesn't surprise me one bit, tho, that Artest was somehow a major player. If it was a known fact that there was going to be an altercation in the game, pre game prop odds on 'ol Ron being involved probably would have been Yes -1550, No +1450.
Funny, I was watching the game & the first thing I did when the fracas broke out was try to ascertain how much time was left as I was verrrrrrrrry luckily sitting on an under. I am used to things like that going against me, so I was pretty ecstatic at the result. Second thing I thought about was another stroke of possible luck over the possible suspensions as I also have an Indiana Under 55 wins for the season.
Interesting nite in the NBA. I blame everyone involved, but maybe not the security so much. Geez, cities & teams can't afford 200 militia men at each game.........all games just have their routine crews. After all,the last few thousand NBA games survived that way,so that practice is deemed acceptable.
If I blame anyone, I would lean mostly to the players........as someone noted before, as a player,I should just cash my 100 or 200 thousand dollar paycheck for the game & let the authorities handle it. Players have been read the riot act by the NBA as far as going into the stands is concerned and they should know the consequences of such an act. None of them were threatened by serious bodily harm, they pretty much inflicted that upon themselves.
