I just read this, I really can not believe it.

How fucked up do you have to be to make up a dying gf then kill her off to help your image lol.

Its bad enough he sucks at football now this, I can see his draft stock plummeting.

They vet things very thoroughly, they have a legal team as part of the Gawker network. Many times people have threaten libel suits against them but I don't believe any have been brought to court.

Damn...just read the entire story...so hard to believe but these guys did there homework....deadspin is a legit resource.What was he thinking...why do people do this....he didn't need this...can't wait for all the talksport radio stations getting this..so tired of all the Armstrong stuff....its really sad though...

The fact that much of the mainstream media bought this lock stock and barrel is also very sad.
These are the journalists we 'depend' on to investigate the government and politics and they get duped by an undergrad. :facepalm:

He did not miss one tackle in that game. It turns out he was hugging his girlfriend at those times.

Dude got major sympathy because supposedly his grandmother and girlfriend died on the same day (to separate causes) back in September. This 'fact' was widely reported by the media back then and also in the lead-up to the Championship game.

Turns out the girlfriend didn't exist and was a fabricated online persona (fake twitter etc) using stolen pictures, and a madeup history concocted after the fact. etc. It seems likely Teo was in on it, though that is not yet been established.
