Dude got major sympathy because supposedly his grandmother and girlfriend died on the same day (to separate causes) back in September. This 'fact' was widely reported by the media back then and also in the lead-up to the Championship game.
Turns out the girlfriend didn't exist and was a fabricated online persona (fake twitter etc) using stolen pictures, and a madeup history concocted after the fact. etc. It seems likely Teo was in on it, though that is not yet been established.
Make all the jokes you want, but lets not forget that somebody died.
At first I thought the guy was probaby in on the hoax but as I ponder the facts over about 6-8(lost count really) wild turkey's and water I believe he must have really been hoax'd.
Think about it...you meet a bitch on the internet and she's hot as fuck, she emails hot pictures, gives you a life story and some dude with a really faggy voice actually talks to you on the phone and pretends to be her. Now, even if you know this chick is real meeting a girl on the internet is still something all your buddies are gonna give you endless amounts of shit about....especially if you still haven't met the chick in person. With those thoughts I conclude that the dude probably made up a fake story about how they met, instead of admitting it was on the world wide web. Hell, I'd have done the same thing there but once you start a lie like that the bullshit can just keep piling on and get out of control pretty quick.....
Hence the stories about how she'd come to visit in Hawaii and yada yada yada.
I'm not defending the guy, I haven't even liked him to be honest with you but I'm starting to see just how all of this could go down so I'm gonna reserve judgement.
To the dude that pulled this shit off...Should we give this guy some sort of Oscar or Golden Globe or whatever other BS they give actors or should we burn him at the stake?
I say, job well done you sorry..sorry..sorry mother fucker.
He's a starting LB at major college, don't think he is going to be overly enamored with one hot chick he meets on the internet.

He was duped. ND knows that or they wouldn't have come out with the press conference.
Really brings into question the value of a Notre Dame education, but there's no way that he knew
