Others that I will wait for on placewagers @ Oly but will be considering are Mediate,Sluman and Triplett. However do not look for these lines to move as I am sure Toms will.

I got the 20/1 Toms yesterday and my other picks are Leonard at 25/1 and Carter at 125/1. All three performed well last week on courses similar to the one used this week. Toms has to top 10s the last two years in this event. Leonard likes these Texas events and was 5th last year. Carter is short hitter who excels on par 70 courses. 125/1 at Sports.com is a decent price.

looks like Toms gets the early forum vote..not always a good sign..unless you take price at Betfair and lay off..anyway, to try and buck this trend, I have emailed the aforementioned golfer to advise him just what is at stake here..I will advise what response is..let us hope it is a win!!!

Looks like the whole world has been jumping up and down on Toms so far this week. Found 18/1 @ Sportingbet which I took for 1 unit ew. May the golfing gods have mercy on us all .

For UK again, 18.5/1 Toms at Betfair...again I have taken an interest, but there is a fair chunk left, so may last a while...

Not doing well with my pre-tournament bets of late so trying a triple whammy to stop the rot.

Rocco Mediate 33/1 bet365 (but now 28/1)
Will give Rocco a quick chance to atone for winning last time out at the Greensboro the week after he had missed the cut for me at the Worldcom. He obviously favours this event as he plays every year and has 4 top 10's in recent years, 8th, 3rd, 8th & 4th. Rocco now stands 13th in the World rankings

Justin Leonard 25/1 Sportingbet (now 5 places)
The standard Texas selection. At least you always get a run for your money. Didn't do a lot wrong last week and recent Worldcom winner. Has 4 top 10's in his last 7 outings here.

Jeff Sluman 80/1 Blue Square
Let me down when supported in the Compaq and another mediocre finish last week in the Byron Nelson but will chance a small interest at this price (40/1 at Coral). Previously 4th in the Players and 10th in the Worldcom. Has consistent form here 15-15-13-2-3-13-2.

US Open
Have taken some 80/1 Rocco Mediate at sportingbet.com to improve on last years 4th place... looks a big price on his form this year... and hopefully that will look even juicier after a win this week.

bmad..very similar to you this week;

Justin Leonard 25/1 will obviously win every time I don't back him this year, but like his chances this week

Rocco Mediate 28/1 - hard to believe we're describing him as consistent

John Cook 100/1 Blue Sq (now 80) good job they trimmed as they were insulting my manhood by standing the price, I would have had to smash open the piggy bank to spare my blushes...great price, ideal game for here, I believe

Outright plays (1 unit):

Phil Mickelson to win 10/1 e.w. @ Olympic [.5 units to win; .5 units to win] or Sports.com
Davis Love last week and Phil Mickelson this week ... signs of the desperate! For all Lefty's faults, he does have a great record on this course, particularly in the last two years when he has finished 1st and 2nd. Generally available at 8/1, I'll take the saver on the each-way at these odds just in case his temperament gets the better of him again in the final stretch.

David Toms to win 20/1 e.w. @ SportsInteraction
Looking for Toms to carry on where he left off last week. He carded a closing 66 to gain a share of 4th place last week as a selection, having finished 9th the previous week in the New Orleans Classic which was his first event since the Masters. Has finishes of 4th and 8th on this course in the last two years and has a game that should suit this tight course. He looks an obvious choice this week.

Justin Leonard to win 25/1 e.w. @ Sportingbet
Leonard in his home State is just as obvious: he has finished in the top-6 in six of his last eight events in Texas. Has a good record in this event, finishing 5th last year and like Toms, has a game that suits a tight course. Currently in a rich vein of form, including winning the WorldCom Classic last month, so should go close again.

Matchup play (1 unit):

Davis Love to beat John Huston -110 @ LuvBet
Both have good course form in recent years, but Huston appears to be out-of-form at the moment. A best of 30th in his last four events is not impressive. So long as Love can remains interested, he is the better player in the better form.

I won't name my pick since he's everyone elses as well and that's the KOD. But he was still 20-1 at SIA and 5dimes last night.

Anyone besides SIA and OLY have place-only betting these days? I like putting double or quadruple on the place than on the win as its much more profitable and less dry spells over time. Also have to commend OLY for offering adjusted place odds all week, SIA cuts them to < 4 places as the week progresses.
