Added Bob Estes to my team.... secured some 14/1 early this morning and laid it off at betfair at 8.4/1... nice profit locked in with no loss potential. It's time he started playing this season like he ended last.

I thought Estes was an addition to my team.... now looks as though he was just a substitute as Rocco Mediate has gone AWOL being disqualified after missing his 4pm tee time

Will update at the cut @ completion of 3rd rd. appears cut has went to +3. Weather was clear as of 2 am central and looks to be that way rest of day with dimished winds around 13mph throughout day.

Do not like to venture out on these delays but got a semi hedge that I like and will play 3rd rd.
Verplank -102 vs Maruyama @ 5dimes
Maruyama -115 vs Kelly at Cascade

To lose both Kelly will have to beat both Verplank and Maru
While Verplank and Maru have both completed 2nd rd kelly will have to start ealy just to finish the 18th hole and return in pm for 3rd rd. Am hoping this throws his tourney routine out of sync.

On some non official cheese while several books do not have outrights up I am liking Estes and Love (yes Love) in interactives @ $5 and $2 respectively. This tourney is noted for one coming out of pack last 2 days and with leader at only -6 and both these players capable of some low #'s when firing I like these odds.

Cannot resist a play on someone who won twice last year, is a very accurate player and a very good wind player - available at 66/1 yet sitting on -2 - Coceres at Sporting Odds (I think he has now recovered from his broken arm!)

Mid-point update:

Love/Huston All Square
Duval/Furyk LOST by 1
Perks/Goggin WON by 7
Verplank/Janzen Leads by 4
Perry/Kelly Leads by 4

Mickelson 62nd
Toms 54th
Leonard 12th

Very irritating loss on Duval who shot 8-over-par for his last eight holes to miss the cut and lose by one to Furyk  Promising position in the other matchups, though the outright selections have left themselves an awful lot to do if they are finish in the top-5.

3rd rd results 1-1
Verplank -102 vs Maruyama @ 5dimes loss by 3
Maruyama -115 vs Kelly at Cascade win by 3

4th rd plays
Tway +105 over Lickliter @$plays
Love +105 over Price @ 5dimes

Only around 10 mph winds projected and will be tough for anyone to catch Price,a very good front runner. While he is normally not one to go in conservative mode a lead such as this could change that notion.

Hopefully Toms can continue surge on outrights and Love subject to fire another good rd.

law of madjacks looms large again, for lostinamerica and myself...backed Price last week...really interesting to know what makes a difference to players? we need them to be asked, 'why did you win this week and not last week?' then we will start to understand why..as season goes on, you get ever increasing team of players you have backed, so are more likely to get a winner from the 'team', but this last week thing is of interest..
my first stab, just a feeling type of thing, is that a player approaches a tournament he has done well in before, but he is not in quite the same form as in previous years..however, he performs ok, on a track he likes, and this brings on his game, making him more likely to play well in following weeks...perhaps Stanley can do us a table..not sure what to measure though???
Price played well last week, but whenever I saw him he was looking very frustrated with his game, he had the 'Faldo' look of 'why can't I quite do it anymore'..This week he is all smiles..but then he is winning..
and I hope he goes on to win, you use up too much luck wishing ill on players as far as I am concerned..when you need someone like Padraig to putt a 3 footer to win..you do not want to have used up your luck wishing others miss...

Steved,
Assuming Price wins... perhaps this business of players winning the week after we back them just proves that a run decent of current form is more important than course form..... or is it? After all how often do you bet on someone who is on a run of poor form? We obviously go for a player playing well and even though he may not win the week we most expect he can continue the run after that. One bad week doesn't make a bad player as I recently learnt to my cost with Rocco!.... but funnily enough Rocco had won Greensboro before and Price won Colonial in 1994!

Re.. wishing bad luck on players... interesting thought... but sorry can't change the habits of a lifetime... when you're wishing good luck on Padraig's 3 footer, if I'm on the player in 2nd.... MISS... MISS... MISS :D

Final update:

Matchups: 4-1-0; +3.75 units

Love/Huston WON by 5
Verplank/Huston WON by 6
Perry/Kelly WON by 8

Outrights: 1-2; +0.00 units

Mickelson 23rd
Toms 2nd
Leonard 19th

Thought Toms might win this event halfway through the final round, but Price was a very worthy winner ... just a pity he couldn't do in the past month when he's been an outright selection! Good week on the matchups and almost a sweep, so that's one pleasing event this week at least

PGA Tour ytd
Matchups: 51-56; -16.86 units
Outrights: 9-44; -8.05 units
