-175 is a decent price

That makes sense considering Mayweather's stellar defense and his economical approach to fighting. Also Ortiz would be ecstatic with just a win; a KO would be magical. I just dislike overs/round props as there are so many things that can end a bout early. I think maybe a small parlay prop; Khan over 7.5/May over 11.

I just watched HBO Face off with Max Kellerman

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIaQD4QJhso

Obviously Floyd is extremely self confident, but Ortiz...

When he was asked, how he would beat Floyd, he said "I have no idea!"

WTF!!??! :scared

I mean seriously, why would you ever say that to another fighter face to face!?!

Face-off

Face-off

Yea, I watched it also. I noticed a Mayweather tell; seems a nervous reaction with the constant opening and closing of the water bottle. Perhaps Ortiz was being too honest, or not even aware he said that. I mean when he was getting thumped that one fight he said he"doesn't deserve to get beat up like this". Huh? It's prize fighting. So, the other guy deserves to get beat up but not you? The pressure on Ortiz is monstrous. Plus Mayweather has way too much ring savvy and skill to get surprised here. I think Ortiz is comfortable racing go karts, and now he is sitting in a formula one race car. He is apprehensive, to say the least.

Random thoughts fron Dan Rafael of ESPN, FWIW

Random thoughts fron Dan Rafael of ESPN, FWIW

Rafael writes: "I watched HBO's Floyd Mayweather-Victor Ortiz "Face Off with Max Kellerman" the other night. Although it didn't have the fireworks of some of the recent editions, such as the one that aired before Wladimir Klitschko routed David "The Flopper" Haye, I thought the quiet intensity of Mayweather and Ortiz made it must-see TV. After some obligatory back-and-forth, Mayweather ended with this remark, which he said to Kellerman while smiling and almost snickering, as though Ortiz wasn't even remotely in his league: "I'm gonna get in there and destroy this kid." Mayweather has smack-talked many of his opponents, but this didn't come off as trash talk. There was just something in the way Mayweather said it that sounded utterly real."

Yea, I tend to agree. But they apparently HAVE to do this crap to promote the fight. Both seemed bored and distracted. But I still watch because I am a junkie for all this hype!

Ortiz in training...

Ortiz in training...

Before hunkering down to focus entirely on Floyd Mayweather on September 17th in Las Vegas, welterweight world title holder Victor Ortiz completed the Sprint Triathlon at Camp Pendleton near San Diego on Saturday morning. The triathlon consisted of a 500-yard swim, a 30-kilometer (about 18 miles) bike ride, and a five kilometer (3.1 miles) run. Ortiz completed the course with a time of one hour, 36 minutes, and 56 seconds, finishing ninth in the 20-24 age elite category. His manager, Rolando Arellano, told Fightnews.com that he also ran the triathlon, completing the course over two hours and 17 minutes. Ortiz (29-2-2, 22 KO?s) will resume his training at Knuckleheadz gym in Ventura.

Some thoughts on weights...

Some thoughts on weights...

The WBC has confirmed that all six fighters fighting for WBC belts in Las Vegas and Los Angeles have successfully made the weight for the WBC?s mandatory 30-day reweigh-in.

Victor Ortiz 157.4 vs Floyd Mayweather 149
WBC Welterweight Championship
30 Day Limit: 162 lbs.

Saul Alvarez 165.5 vs Alfonso Gomez 161
WBC Super Welterweight Championship
30 Day Limit: 169 lbs.

Erik Morales 153 vs Lucas Matthysse 147.5
WBC Super Lightweight Championship
30 Day Limit: 154 lbs.

The thirty-day preweigh-in rule, allows the fighters to monitor their weight in order to get to the fight well-hydrated and lower their weight gradually, avoiding risks.

Just from looking at this, it confirms, for me anyway, that to some degree the guys I liked, I like even more. Mayweather seems to always be in shape; Alvarez has to drop a little more than Gomez, and I have a play on Gomez already. The most glaring contrast here is Morales/Matthysse. Fight is for super lightweight-140 lbs. according to what is being reported. Morales has to drop 15, while Matthysse around 7lbs. Morales is going to get throttled.
