At the time, this was not against God's law. It wasn't until the time of Moses when this law in Leviticus 18:6 "none of you shall approach to any that is near of kin to him" was given to the people. For 2 people to propogate the world and go forth and multiply, brothers would have had to marry sisters then cousins to cousins, etc.

edit add... also, Adam and Eve were perfect creations. I guess it could be argued that the offspring of 2 perfect people would be perfect and therefore no birth defects would occur like you would see if related people today had children.
