New Year.. Dogs won last year.. but it's time to put an end to that reign. Got a really strong lean on a player, will wait to see how my 2 New Years plays go but this play will be rather large to start the 08 season off. :mj11: As always best of luck to everyone.

I was speaking to Andy Prodger about a month ago and he said that Choi really likes playing in hawaii and was looking forward to playing in both tournaments.

With a pretty weak field he's sure worth an e/w at 16s bluesq and bet365

I have 2 leans if you have read the news you would know who they are. Just waiting for matchups to lock them in. Also might be good to fade guys who live in cold weather states.

First play of 2008

Byrd +100 over Weekly

I'll give a writeup here.. on why i like it
Byrd has played here twice, finishing 6th and 13th.I don't think hes ever shot a round over par here. Boo is a first timer here, which will be tough. Byrd was second on tour last year in putting which is key here. He also hits the ball a mile, which is important on a wet 7400 yard course. Boo hasn't been practicing at all

Q. How much golf, if any, have you played since the World Cup?
BOO WEEKLEY: I played one time in the front yard. Me and my little boy, me and him go out -- it wasn't even my clubs. I'll tell you what, I only hit my clubs one time to pull an iron out of it to look at it and see if it was the one I was going to switch out before I came over here, and then I said I'd just leave it like it is, zipped it right back up. I ain't even took it out of the gun case -- or my bag -- I've still got bullets in my head. It's still hunting season back home. I was thinking hunting (laughter).

Q. Do you have a little makeshift hole in your front yard?
BOO WEEKLEY: Yeah, it's about 40 yards, 50 yards. I've got a piece of wood sitting out there with a white sock on it.
STEWART MOORE: I believe you told one of the PGA TOUR guys that you have a better chance of shooting 82 this week than 62.
BOO WEEKLEY: Yes, sir. Yeah, you can go with that. I ain't played no golf. Ain't no telling where it's heading.
Q. So have you swung a golf club very much since you did that? When I say very much, at all?
BOO WEEKLEY: Yeah, I swung around out in the yard.

Q. But not a round of golf or on the range or nothing?
BOO WEEKLEY: No.

Q. So you really don't know what's going to happen?
BOO WEEKLEY: Ain't got a clue.

Q. How do you feel?
BOO WEEKLEY: I'm feeling all right right now. I'm still on some medication for it and stuff like that. I feel fine, anti-inflammatories and stuff.

Boo is so talented though,he could go out and go low..thus not a huge play since I haven't read much on Byrd.

Anyone got an opinion on Mcneil over Funk?
Mcneil seems to be a bomber with a decent short game. He played well at the Sony last year. Funk has been miserable his last few trips out here. The only thing holding me back from this is Mcneils ball striking

I keep on ending up at Sabbotini:scared I'm scared to ever make a bet on this clown, but he warrants a look. He basically has a second home here. He has a second place finish here and played well last year minus the 78. Just don't know if I want to bet on him in week 1.

Am with you on this one with the same doubts! had a quick look early in week but not had time since to have a proper look at form but Sabbatini was the stand out for me. Took the 20s at Billy Hills.

Read your write up on Boo so will add a play on Leonard at 5/6 ov Weekley with Boyle Sports.

Outright: 1 unit each

Stephen Ames 33 to 1
Jonathan Byrd 40 to 1

---changed my mind on austin as I didn't like what I heard in an interview. Hasn't played at all since the shark shootout.

Good to see the gang back--
Will prob limit wagers to special situations and props again this year-days of 600-700 plays a year ended in 05.
The islands are a venue of their own--wind-and the grainiest greens you'll find anywhere--several players avoid playing the 1st 2 weeks of tour under presumption it messes up their swings and putting stroke.

Will try a 72 hole @ 5D

Sport / Period: PGA Golf / Game
Line:
K.J. Choi (Tourn) 1/3/2008 5:05:01 PM - (EST)
-105
Opponent: Aaron Baddeley (Tourn)

Change in focus for me this year so look out Dogs & abc :scared

Here is the blurb I put on my page ...

"A different type of betting market for me this year, though really only a return to the predominant type of plays that I was posting when this site was first set up. Picks will be posted in the morning ahead of each round on this Tour and, as far as possible, I will also post up a notice if there are no plays that day. The new plays will posted lower down each page, so don't forget to scroll down if you don't see the new plays!

The majority of my plays will come from Pinnacle, Five Dimes and Carib. That is not because I'm not looking at the UK/European bookies' odds, but that I find it hard to better the value found at these three sportsbooks when they offer a push for the tie and almost everyone else offers three-way odds.

I will provide some very brief reasons for each play, but nothing more. It is easy to provide full reasonings for outright plays in the knowledge that the odds will change only slightly because of the huge volume in that market. It is very different with 18-hole matchups, so do expect some sharp line movements once people have followed my plays. I also need to keep some of the betting angles private for these matchups else the adjustments will be made by the odds compilers beforehand and it will be harder to find any value.

For the first month or so, all tips will probably be low stakes (e.g. 1pt) until the season settles down and the stakes will be "to win 1pt" if the selection is odds-on (i.e. minus odds on the moneyline) and "1pt stake" if the selection is odds-against (i.e. plus odds on the moneyline). For consistency and because I hope to introduce 18-hole matchup odds listings later in the year, all odds will be quoted in moneyline terms."

and the plays ...

Round 1 plays (1pt)
K.J. Choi to beat Angel Cabrera -125 @ Carib LOST by 9
Lots of good experience playing in Hawaii versus none and a 9-3-1 h2h 1st round record in favour of Choi as well

K.J. Choi to beat Zach Johnson -115 @ Five Dimes LOST by 3
Opposing Johnson as a poor wind player and being short off the tee will struggle as he did here in 2005

Rory Sabbatini to beat Scott Verplank -107 @ Pinnacle WON by 1
Sabbatini spent Christmas in Hawaii and is fully prepared for this event. The last time Verplank played in this event he finished 4th-last; Sabbatini was 2nd

Been really, really busy with my site ... will finally get round to posting the final 2007 Forum Recap figures tonight ;)
