Never cared for his music, cannot pass any judgement over whether his was guilty or not. Despite all that, it's one of those landmark deaths that I will always remember.

Once my Dad had to go on a business trip to Las Vegas to represent a company he was working for which was sponsoring a concert that Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5 was in. I think it was at the MGM Grand. He got to meet Joe Jackson (the father) while he was there and a bunch of the Jackson kids. He said the kids were absolutely great and very talented and fun to be around. He said Joe Jackson was a conceited, arrogant asshole though that he couldn't stand to be around. Many of the people there he was with thought the same thing.

it wasn`t cool to like michael jackson....but i don`t think even the beatles had as many instantly recognizable hits as jackson did.....

elvis,sinatra and michael jackson.....probably the top 3 musical icons/influences of the last few generations....

a sad adult life...the poor guy was obsessed with his physical appearance... seemed hell-bent on replicating lon chaney's phantom of the opera makeup permanently on his own flesh....

clearly, he was someone very far from being at peace with himself, despite his formidable gifts......
