Petey, You should check out Morphine instead of your conventional type band,( Vocals, guitar, bass, drums) they use a bunch of horns, only listened a couple of times but it sounds cool!

Adding some left off bands:

Dead
Leftover Salmon
Pink Floyd
Allison Krauss
Ani ( I dig her style, and if she ever gets ready to switch hit she can call me! )

Man I guess I like it all! I own probably 500 different albums, usually when asked this question I say I like anything from ABBA to Zappa, that would cover A-Z would it not?

Van Halen.

Someone earlier in this thread said something about a choice of theirs being the best live band to see. Tell you what.....Find yourself a video of a David Lee Roth era Van Halen concert, tuck it into the VCR, turn up the volume, and be prepared to witness a two fisted hammer of musical and show biz excellence!

Listed in no particular order:

-- The Beatles ((post Revolver -- the 1966-1970 period is the most creative era of any single band in history IMHO)
-- U-2 (up to Rattle and Hum)
-- Eric Clapton (particularly the Cream era)
-- Lenny Kravitz (interesting mix of hard rock, soul, and funk)
-- AC/DC (best metal band in history)
-- Led Zepplin (best sequence of first four albums in history)
-- Rolling Stones (far too many years in the business and far too inconsistent, but I'll put them here)
-- Elton John (with Taupin -- great songwriter)
-- Van Morrison (creatively inconsistent, but brilliant)
-- Sting (perhaps the most popular worldwide star over the last decade -- capable of great music)
-- Jimmy Hendrix (frightening to think what he might have done musically if he had lived past 1970)
-- Willie Nelson (an outlaw songwriter -- deserves mention with the best rockers)
-- Johnny Lee Hooker, Albert King, insert several other southern blues guitarists (the roots of rock n' roll)
-- Rush (with the Police, the best three-man band of all-time)
-- Bob Dylan (only in here for songwriting abilities)

-- ND

Dawgball--

Dawgball--

I second that on Keb 'Mo. Here in Davenport, every 4th of July week-end we have one of the largest and finest Blues Fests in the country. 30+ Blues acts, 10 hours a day for 3 days-- 25,000 people a day-- in a park on the banks of the Mississippi River.
If you are a Blues fan, its a festival that can't be missed. Keb 'Mo played in the Blues Tent (a giant tent that hosts acoustic acts and smaller combos)-- and I was blown away by his set. I have attended 13 of the 17 annual shows, and at the end of his set the crowd rose as one and gave him a huge, 5 minute long standing ovation. That has probably happened only 4 or 5 other times in the tent over the life of the fest.
Ever heard of Catfish Keith, Dawgball? If you are a fan of early blues(Robert Johnson, etc) you would like his sound. :)

If anyone is interested-- www.mvbs.org

Newcomers:

A Perfect Circle ... more Maynard
Linkin Park
Limp Bizkit
Disturbed
Staind
Godsmack
Flaw

Old-Timers:

Metallica ... yes, I put them in old-timers cause I hate their new stuff ... they sold out and went mainstream ... 15 years ago, they were my favorite band
AC/DC ... classic rockers were my first concert too
KISS ... musically they suck but they put on quite a show and I loved them as a youngster
Led Zeppelin
Black Sabbath
Iron Maiden

I actually have never heard of Catfish Keith, but I will before the end of the day.

Any recommended songs? Always like to hear a couple of their best before I make a judgment.

If anyone wants to check out Keb, my favorites are City Boy (probably the #1 song on my all-time list), Every Morning, Victims of Comfort (Another classic), She Just Wants to Dance (little faster), and Henry.

Enjoy! I'll let you know what I think about Catfish, reds.
