i wonder how many promotional failures there is going to be before these guys realize that there's no room at the top end. competing with the ufc is futile.
Hey Muhr recently you said Lidel was an arrogant prick. Is this just your opinion or have you heard stories about him? Seems like the ufc always wants to portray him as a down to earth guy that would have a beer with anyone. Now there is speculation that Affliction has cut a deal w/ HBO..... Atencio will be making a "big announcement" at the HBO/PPV boxing event this Sat. (Casamayor vs. JMM).
Whether or not that is true, the new show date will likely be Jan '09..... and Fedor is expected to be on the card. :shrug:

Jim Rome is a complete moron. He used to bash the sport and calls it "human **** fighting." Jim Rome is clueless moran, and anytime I turn the radio on and he's on I want to committ suicide. He has no fu(king clue what he's talking about. He's only popular because he likes to be contreversal. Anyone with a sports brain could do that, but they're more respectful and mature.
As far as Chuck looking like he did, Rome is an idiot. Chuck just got caught, plain and simple. Rome should shut the fu*k up when it comes to talking about MMA.
As far as Chuck being an asshole, from everything I've read and seen, he's a stand up-nice guy. He's well respected as a person from every account I've seen.
Alot of people(including me) think that Afflications days are numbered, and their next show will be their last. They're just doing this all completely wrong. They're bringing in these big name guys who are FAs for whatever reason, and paying them REDICULOUS amounts of money. Sylvia 750k? Lindland 300k? Barnett made a shit load as well. These guys simply aren't worth maybe 100k per fight at best. You can do all the explaining and twisting all you want, mathematically it just doesn't add up. Their PPV buys won't cover that 300k cost, yet alone the entire costs. They're in serious trouble...
Not only that, but their PROMO and MARKETING has been horendous. Nobody hardly knew about the July 19th card, and almost nobody knew about this "postposted aka canceled" October fight.
All of these companies are doing it so wrong, and it's insane to see them continuously do it over and over. I don't see how they think putting a mega-card together is going to get them on the rise. Those cards ONLY ONLY ONLY appeal to the MEGA-MMA fans. The casual MMA fan doesn't care, or probably doesn't know ANY of the fighters unless they fought in the UFC recently. These companies need to start slow, get a TV deal where they can build and groom fighters. Instead, they try to slap a card together, put a commerical here or there together, and say, "here's what we got, NOW BUY IT."--LOL--FAIL

just my sense from things he's said about hypothetical opponents. pretty much every time a name is brought up, for example, fedor's, chuck would say, his stand up is inferior and his wrestling isn't good enough.
he comes across as the type of guy who would say that wlad klitschko would need to shoot for takedowns to have a chance against him. confidence is obviously important for athletes, but chuck just rubs me the wrong way.
Do we really need to see a third Rampage Vandy or another Chuck and Vandy? What is the rush? There is a bunch of talent in this division why these fights? Not saying they wouldn't be good fights but i can wait for those down the road. How about Sokojuo vs Rampage or i wouldn't mind watch Rashard against Machida. There are a lot of options why go with something for the third time this early?

One big thing we have to remember at the end of the day is...Fighters are going to be the deciding factor. Joe Silva comes up with the matches, but the fighters have to agree with it at the end of the day. Chuck is getting to a point in his career where he's only going to want to fight some of the best fighters in the world. He doesn't have 3-4 years to waste fighting a few cans here and there.
Wandy has fought the best of the best. I've always said that I don't think anyone has a resume like his. He will fight anyone the UFC puts in front of him, provided no personal issues get in the way(Rua). He also wants to fight guys he knows want to fight him. You can't blame the guy for knowing his strengths.
I don't want to see Rampage-Wandy 3, personally. I'd like to see Wandy-Chuck 2 before that. There are other fights for Wandy that I'd like to see in the LHW division, IN ORDER such as....
Sokoudjou- I WANT THIS FIGHT THE MOST

I think this is a fight that both of them want (Rampage and Wand), and could even mean a title shot for the winner.
Another Chuck vs. Wand would be great IMO, but Chuck doesnt deserve a shot at Wand right now, in all honesty. Also, I dont think the UFC would give him a fight that difficult right after a devastating loss... the UFC doesnt want Chuck to be KO ever again... I believe the UFC wants Rich Franklin to fight Chuck next. :shrug:
Also, i hope Rashad vs Machida never happens b/c it would make for a mega snorefest IMO. Neither guy is particularly engaging........ it would be terribly boring i think, but would fit perfectly on the next UFC: ELUSIVE card. :142smilie
BUCS, i think Sokoudjou will fight Shogun next, if Sokoudjou wins in the meantime (Shogun will have recovered by the end of the year card or sooner). Sok called out Shogun after his last victory, and that would be a good return fight for Shogun.
Chute had a big problem with Sokoudjou after his fights in Pride. A reason I want him is because of that. People pumped up Sokoudjou and I wanted Wandy to knock him to reality.
