First Blood
is a 1982 American action film directed by Ted Kotcheff, and co-written by Sylvester Stallone, who also stars as Vietnam War veteran John Rambo. It co-stars Richard Crenna and Brian Dennehy, and is the first installment in the Rambo franchise, followed by Rambo: First Blood Part II.

The film is based on the 1972 novel of the same name by David Morrell. In the film, Rambo, a troubled and misunderstood veteran, must rely on his combat and survival senses against the abusive law enforcement of the small town of Hope, Washington.

First Blood was released in the United States on October 22, 1982. Despite initial mixed reviews, the film was a box office success, grossing $125.2 million at the box office. Since its release, First Blood has received reappraisal from critics, with many praising the roles of Stallone, Dennehy, and Crenna, and recognizing it as an influential film in the action genre. The film's success spawned a franchise, consisting of four sequels (all of which were co-written by and starred Stallone), an animated television series and a series of comic books, novels, video games and a Bollywood remake.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (105th viewing)

Once was enough, fuck that shit was slow.

5.4 outta 10 at best.

Agree with others.......

I watched Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

Would recommend if

you have a sleeping disorder

polyester clothing is your jam

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy I dvr'd it on hbo or some channel last month...made it 15 minutes in and couldn't take it....sounds like it got worse if that's possible

That movie could have wrapped shit up in about 40 minutes:facepalm: Was the movie horrible? No it wasn't, but it wasn't very good either.

Its not for everyone.....that's for sure. This is from a TV show in Britain. James Bond....it ain't. A movie/TV show about espionage that is close to what really occurs in the world......it plays out more like a game of chess than a movie with explosions and gun fire.

Rambo III
is a 1988 American action film directed by Peter MacDonald and co-written by Sylvester Stallone, who also reprises his role as Vietnam War veteran John Rambo. A sequel to Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985), it is the third installment in the Rambo franchise, followed by Rambo. It was the last film to feature Richard Crenna as Colonel Sam Trautman before his death in 2003.

The film depicts fictional events during the Soviet?Afghan War. In the film, Rambo sets out on a dangerous journey to Afghanistan in order to rescue his former military commander and his longtime best friend Colonel Trautman from the hands of an extremely powerful and ruthless Soviet Army colonel who is bent on killing both Trautman and Rambo, as he helps lead the Soviet armed forces and their mission: Conquering Afghanistan.

Rambo III was released worldwide on May 25, 1988, and grossed $189 million at the box office. With a production budget between$58 and $63 million, Rambo III was the most expensive film ever made at the time.

It's been 25 years or so but I'd love to go back and rewatch True Romance - Watching it as a 20 year old versus a 40 year old. I remember thinking modern Bonnie & Clyde as a kid but it's been so long I only remember a few scenes and not the whole plot.

Idiocracy - If you like scary movies, this is for you. Prophetic, the only difference is it took 15 years, not 500.

True Romance is my favorite movie. No question.

Idiocracy is great, but it?s not for everyone. Dax Shepard is so good.

Ventura, Ca.
Final Countdown. Solid early 80s movie about the USS Nimitz going back in time to right before Pearl Harbor. Watched it the first time in the Casino movie theater in Avalon Catalina island back in my carefree teenage years.

If they gave an Oscar for "Best Scene", in 1993 it would have gone to Walken and Hooper in True Romance.

If they had an Oscar for Best Scene All Time, it would go to Walken and Hooper in True Romance (except for, maybe, Salma Hayek in Dusk to Dawn.)

More currently . . .

Movie update; caught Knives Out and Jo Jo Rabbit this week.

Knives out: started out strong, faded late in the pic, my interest waned a bit.
Christopher Plummer - is he ever NOT good, in any role? I don't think so.
Jamie Curtis - uncomfortable to see her as a grey-haired old lady,
almost as unsettling as seeing James Bond talk with a southern accent.

Jo Jo Rabbit: If you're the type of movie viewer who just can't wait for Hollywood to put out the 11th remake of King Kong then this is probably not a film for you. I appreciate it even more so when I compare its originality to almost everything else being produced these days.

Waititi is a rare talent.
It is extremely difficult to be funny and disturbing at the same time, and he can do it not only over the course of an entire film, but in as little as one line: Jo Jo to Elsa, "Tell me, where does the Jew Queen lay her eggs?"
To remember that Nazi's actually thought that way, and acted upon that hatred, is a bit chilling.

Quirky funny, layered, deep. Great acting all around, from the kids Jo Jo and Elsa, Rebel Wilson, Steven Merchant, Waititi as Hitler, Theon Greyjoy (doing more with expressions than most "actors" can do with dialogue) and Sam Rockwell (Rockwell is another who is good in every role he takes on.)
A great script (Oscar winner), good editing.
And, for me, one of the best ending scenes in many years, a slow development gradually increasing to a full-on onslaught of expressing freedom, harkening back to an answer Elsa gave Jo Jo earlier in the film when he was questioning her.
And a bit of Bowie is always a good thing.

I'd highly recommend it.
