Run Silent, Run Deep
is a 1958 American black-and-white war film from United Artists, based on the 1955 novel of the same name by Commander (later Captain) Edward L. Beach Jr.. It was directed by Robert Wise, produced by Harold Hecht, and starred Clark Gable and Burt Lancaster. The title refers to "silent running", a submarine stealth tactic. The story describes World War II submarine warfare in the Pacific Ocean, and deals with themes of vengeance, endurance, courage, loyalty, and honor and how these can be tested during wartime.

In addition to Gable and Lancaster playing the leads, the film also features Jack Warden and was the film debut of Don Rickles.[1]

United Artists promoted Run Silent, Run Deep as a combination of the obsessiveness of Moby Dick's Captain Ahab and the shipboard rivalry found in Mutiny on the Bounty.[2]

Although based on a novel of the same name, and having many of the same characters, the plot of the film diverges from that of the book. Captain Beach, the author of the book, did not think highly of the film; he later said that the film company bought only the book title and was not interested in producing an accurate depiction of the theme and plot of his novel.[3]

Black Widow
is a 2021 American superhero film based on Marvel Comics featuring the character of the same name. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is the 24th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film was directed by Cate Shortland from a screenplay by Eric Pearson, and stars Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow alongside Florence Pugh, David Harbour, O-T Fagbenle, Olga Kurylenko, William Hurt, Ray Winstone, and Rachel Weisz. Set after the events of Captain America: Civil War (2016), the film sees Romanoff on the run and forced to confront her past.

Lionsgate Films began developing a Black Widow film in April 2004, with David Hayter attached to write and direct. The project did not move forward and the character's film rights had reverted to Marvel Studios by June 2006. Johansson was cast in the role for several MCU films beginning with Iron Man 2 (2010), and began discussing a solo film with Marvel. Work began in late 2017, with Shortland hired in 2018. Jac Schaeffer and Ned Benson contributed to the script before Pearson was hired. Filming took place from May to October 2019 in Norway, Budapest, Morocco, Pinewood Studios in England, and in Atlanta, Macon, and Rome, Georgia.

Black Widow premiered at events around the world on June 29, 2021, and was released in the United States on July 9, simultaneously in theaters and through Disney+ with Premier Access. It is the first film in Phase Four of the MCU, and was delayed three times from an original May 2020 release date due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Black Widow broke several pandemic box office records and grossed over $379 million worldwide,[a] becoming the seventh-highest-grossing film of 2021. The film received generally positive reviews from critics, with praise for the performances, particularly those of Johansson and Pugh, and the action sequences, though the villains received criticism. In July 2021, Johansson filed a lawsuit against Disney over the simultaneous release, which was settled two months later.

Great movie.

It's a little weird because obviously it is not as good as the book, however, to truly enjoy this film I deeply believe that having the knowledge of the book is almost crucial to enjoying the movie.

I saw it in a LieMax theater. Well worth it - not a fan of watching first time on HBO Max....

9 out of 10 for me. It was a lot of fun to watch.

Dune ***/5

Old Dune gets "2049" update and looks awesome with everything offensive (like Baron Harkonnen character) smoothed out. Looks nice but lacks emotions of 1984 version.

Sad to say but regular modern movie.
