Hypothetically speaking, how much would you pay to have your memory erased of every movie you've ever seen so you could enjoy them all again for the first time? I know I'd pay a pretty penny

Call me young, but I was blown away when I found out it was a true story:shrug:

Hurricane was a well done movie but it is only based on a true story. Everything didn't happen that way. There was no racist judge robbing Carter of fights and there was no racist cop hell bent on destroying him. His salvation is still inspirational, but alot of the story devices in the film that tend to touch people's emotional chords were just that, story devices.

I assume you've already seen "The Silence of the Lambs" but on the off chance you haven't, it's brilliant.

Also, I just saw "Casablanca" for the first time last week, and was amazed at how good it was. No special effects, no color, etc., it's driven soley by writing and acting. Same with "The Philadelphia Story".

As you can probably tell, a friend of mine and I are on an old-movie kick right now. Are "Citizen Kane", "Gone With the Wind" and "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" any good? I've been recommended all three, just curious what some of you thought of them. (Sorry DJ- I'm not trying to hijack your thread)

Citizen Kane is revered by most but thought of as overrated by plenty. I like it a bit. Some Like it Hot is an absolute classic if you are looking for an old movie. Casablanca is probably my favorite film. Chinatown (not quite as old) is brilliant as well.

ocelot, I agree those were 2 great Clint Eastwood movies.

For Action, Die Hard with Bruce Willis has to be the best, the whole trilogy is excellent.

Best Sports movie, The Natural with Robert Redford

Best Old Movie (before 1950)
It's a Wonderful Life with Jimmy Stewart
How Green was my Valley with Walter Pigeon and Maureen Ohara
:director: :grins:
