nj,
I wish I saw your post Sunday. As a matter of fact I quit this weekend as well (Fri night was my last one). I'm on day 4 and I tell ya, Its not getting any easier. I've had really strong cravigs today but managed not to light up. The thing that helps me get through the cravings is knowing that they'll subside after 5-10 minutes.
I've tried to quit before but have never been as determined as I am now.
If anyone has any tips to help fight those craving I'd love to hear them.

Hang in ther nj, I hear it gets easier after a couple of weeks.

I'm ready. Turn 40 next month and have been smoking for 25 years. I can't stand the things but every 15 minutes i catch myself with one in my mouth.

I am with you brother.

Just wanteed to add my support. I smoked for almost 20 yrs before quitting. (seems like several ex-smokers on this board). it's really hard but it is so worth it, and one of the smartest things you'll ever do. Best of luck.

as for breaking the snuff habbit just keep hard candy between your gum,it is the feeling that you miss, its an oral thing, and if you have'nt stoped yet spit the jucie in a mason jar put it outside each day when not in use with lid on ,then when you stop and get an weak moment take a drink of that hot nasty smelling spit and that will get you on the way of breaking the habbit.i promise you on that.

Today is day 10. I think I will continue to avoid the bar scene for a couple more weeks, until I feel comfortable that I will not have an overwhelming urge to light up when I have a drink.
The past 9 days have been pretty good for the most part (I did have a few real bad nic-fits, but I think the Nicorette really helped).
How about the rest of you guys, are you still with us?

day 56 as a non-smoker
smile.gif

i had a good week and it seems to be getting easier. maybe one or two strong urges a day and it's gone after a few minutes.

the highlight of the week was a party i attended on friday. there was drinking and lots of smokers there and i didn't light up. i had a severe urge to, but layed off. THAT was a test i passed with flying colors. i don't think i'll EVER go back if i can make it through that night.

my next BIG test will be superbowl weekend in vegas. if i make it through that it's a done deal forever.

keep up the good work guys!! this is serious chit.

Heres a trick that helped me look at the positive side

i took the average amount of money that i spent on smokes everyday. and put it in a jar. EVERYDAY!! cash.. At the end of the month i would buy my self a gift or something for the little lady. you wouldnt believe how full that god damn jar gets!!

good luck
