If they can get a couple hundred miles in this actually should be a much more interesting race than usual. Normally, so much single file, follow the leader, you can do the barbecue, take a nap and then watch the end. Since it will likely be rain shortened the intensity will be far greater. Lots of pit stop strategy calls to advance/maintain track position.

Race Gamblers worst nightmare.
Rain shortened races. It all comes down to who stays out when the rain comes.
They may not even get it started today although they will try because it looks like rain again tomorrow.

You are right though, if they start it with rain looming then it will get VERY interesting approaching the half-way mark in order to make it official race.

Worst nightmare? eh, not really. It is what it is. It just spreads the value around a lot more. Makes some bets more attractive, others less. For instance it more heavily favors the guys who start up front, since the race is likely to be shorter. Also going to be fewer folks laps down for illuminati's type of bet.

Not many guys fall laps down here because of so many cautions. Only guys laps down are the weakest of the weak and those with accident/engine issues.

Starting up front not that big a deal because it has to go half-way to be official which in this race is still 300 miles.
But look at the race last night, some of the top guys pit and weaker guys stay out hope for rain and get it.
Mike Bliss steals the race.
No handicapping this race.
Last practice basically rained out and now rain could come into play and if it does it might be a who stays out and who comes in scenario instead of who has better car. Maybe it works in your favor, maybe it doesn't.

Thats the jist of spreading the value around more. Just like plate races. There are not many no brainers, but I still have an edge in the long run. Thus, my motto "bet big, bet often"!

Yes, the ruggedness of COT combined with the lucky dog rule means only schlubs and guys with BIG wrecks/mechanical failures end up laps down. Other than rain I don't think there will be as many cautions as usual though, as Goodyear seems to have a better tire, especially considering how they ran 2-3 years ago.
