Dam new congress passed new ethic rules in first day. Last congress couldn't get it done in a year. Good start.

Right. A good job, right at the heart of what Americans are so dissatisfied with. I'm sure Republicans are not happy with this being at the forefront of what the Democrats want to pursue, but make no mistake, it says a lot about listening to the people who put you in power.

Ethics reform, passed by Democrats. I think if I had to pick something to shut up Republicans about the Dems having no real plan for America, this would have to be a big one. NO DOUBT, Republicans had NO DESIRE to pursue this issue.

Kudos the the Democrats. Now...Wayne, Freeze and G-Dub...spin away with some Clinton and Moonbat references.

Well, chad on one had this is a nice start but i have to see the nuts and bolts with this. If its full of loopholes its not worth the paper they printed it on. I guess if i turn on fox and they are screaming then its a solid buill.

The measures come in the form of House rule changes that do not need approval of the Senate, and include more limits on lobbying and congressional travel and more transparency on obscure procedures that allow power to concentrate in the hands of a few.

Even if it doesn't solve all the problems, at least it sounds like a great start.

I think its a good start--now if they just implement it on both sides--did not think giving "cold cash" jefferson a standing ovation was a positive 1st step on being serious on issue.;)

When they come out with proposals on immigration--ssn ect I will believe they serious about solutions for major issues. They can do these minimum wage ect that have their main block of voters doing cartwheels but sooner are later are going to have to address issues that effect your average tax payor and will have to get off the fence.

Looking forward to 08 primaries--in which someone will have to make a stance on what they are for--not what they are against.

Heck the vote was 430 to 1. I can't remember that kind of bipartisan. Even vote to break for holidays and end that session was 400 to 26.

Ok, well, that was a fair response from you Wayne. Rather disarming...I was ready for a fight...:box2: :D

I'll throw you a bone, then, I am a little concerned about their attempts on rushing through legislation without discussion from the right on some of these issues in such a blatant fashion, which is kind of a dismissal of some of their campaign rhetoric. They really have a golden opportunity here, and I hope they don't blow it.

OK Dogs, let's try to be fair on this. Dem. leadership was trying to get Jefferson to not block the investigation against him. He refused, but he still faces the FBI probe on bribery. Justice should take it's course on him. Hopefully he'll be in jail soon enough. What else do you want the dem. leadership to do at this point? They certainly can't control a few memebers of the black caucus from giving an ovation, but they obviously are going forward with ethics promises they made. THATS ALREADY MORE ACCOMPLISHED IN ONE DAY IN THIS ISSUE THAN THE GOP DID IN 8 YEARS.

And - oh by the way -Tom Delay gets standing ovations from his homeboys everywhere he goes while facing money laundering charges. Is that somehow OK?

(there's something I keep hearing.....probably nothing)

I hope they have a lot of success. It's not Monday morning for this crew anymore.

(there it is again)

Striking while the iron is hot and boy is that iron hot! Sidenote: This has to be frosting Hillary's arse. We can all see it. All this country needed was a strong willed female!:mj07: And there were none before.

(I hear it a bit louder now)

Reminds me of when the right took the big chair and all kinds of "promises" to America were made. The last time the Dems had this kind of mandate they really rolled with it.

thinking about tomorrow":142smilie

this time it's been minus that white people bad dancing

I'll hold my breath till I see some change in our foreign policy (China).

It's the world stupid. This crap at home goes so far.

Of course, it's a nice start. Now that they got an idea how to put the players on the field, will see what they run.

better than before"

A few black caucus??-- I don't really think their intent was to keep him from blocking anything--

Maybe someone could explain to me what a black caucus function is.

By the way is there a white caucus--Asian? Jewish?

--and I'll try an be fair Smurph--in fact I am finding it quite interesting--They can't just be against everything now--they have to lay a few cards on the table before 08. These little tasks are easy--we'll see what happens on the real issues.

So far I like what they done on ethics--the enforcement will tell the tale.

If you have a problem with the Black Caucus, just wait til you get a load of the Hispanic Caucus in about 25 years.

.....................................................

I read in a census report that there is now more
Hispanics in the US than black americans.
