People make mistakes. I certainly do. Not this particular one, but I make mistakes nonetheless.

I think the bigger issue is just not owning up to it, facing the "punishment", and moving on.

At this point, Tiger has not dropped too far as far as my respect (he's really happy about this, too), but if things get drug out too long and he continues to be shady about owning it then he'll drop off quickly.

If he screws 1 chick then that's a mistake. Banging multiple women over several year time frames is beyond just an "I made a mistake". Anyone can slip up once but with a continued relationship he knew what he was doing to his family so he gets no free pass. Unfortunately very few value a marriage in our society. If you're going to bang your neighbor then it's time to get a divorce. It's just not an option for my wife and I and we went into marriage knowing that. Both of our parents are still married so I think that makes a big part of it.

My point is that he is human. This is a huge mistake, but none of us are perfect.

The only reason this is a big deal is that society has painted Tiger as above human, and this is just how it happened to be proven false.

If he owned up to his being outed as not perfect, then I would be much more forgiving.
