Lets get this started..............this is the biggest non-conference game at osu in 10 years maybe and that they are making it a night game makes it even better!!!!!! That place is going to be insane and thankfully I'll be there!!!!

Now........who is going to start at QB for the bucks? I think Zwick will get the start but T. Smith will play in the 1st quarter...........Zwick was to effecient last week not to get the start......but they'll need smith's athletic ability to beat texas. The running game looks nice with pittman spelled by wells...............alot better looking then last year thats for sure. OSU's defense is their strength but they'll have their hands full with V.Young...............who looked great against the sisters of the blind and poor.

Lets get some input on this game

My input: put your house and first born on tOSU.

Texas is crazy soft and won't be able to handle what's coming. The Horseshoe at night is no place for the pampered sissies that will take the field for the Horns.

The one monkey wrench in this whole thing is during the 2004 Presidential election, these were both red states.

I hope they destroy each other.

Texas has won 9 straight on the road.
Texas has won 21 of last 22 on the road (not counting neutral sites).

and some tough places to play, like Lincoln (I think Texas broke their 73? home game winning streak?), Lubbock, College Station, Manhattan, Stillwater...

that's not to say at all that OSU wont win this, but Texas has proven they can win on the road with Mack.

:mj07: All 40,000 of em.

College station is the only tough place to play out of that list, and they haven't been that great during that undefeated road streak which is actually only 8 games if you're not counting neutral sites.

Actually Lincoln was very tough when Texas won there (twice). As was Manhattan v a Top 10 team at the time. And Texas hasnt lost in Stillwater under Brown, which is more than we can say for Bobby.

Neutral sites have certainly been a problem.

Is bobby playing Ohio State this weekend??? I didn't think so? Why do you even bring shit up about OU that has nothing to do with the topic.

OU and OSU are in state rivals where most OSU fans would rather beat OU than go to a bowl game or even have a winning season, I almost feel thats how their team feels as well, the way they prepare for that 1 game of the year. In state rivals like that are always close. See CU-CSU, see ISU-Iowa this week, look at UCLA-USC last year, UCLA should have won that game.

By the way, TX beat NU there in 98 and 2002, both years had the worst season record since 1968.

Ohio State will play two quarterbacks for this Saturday`s highly anticipated game against the Texas Longhorns, Buckeyes coach Jim Tressell said Tuesday at his weekly press conference.

Troy Smith and Justin Zwick competed all of last season for the starting job, but Smith finished the 2004 campaign as the No. 1 man. Unfortunately for the Buckeyes, Smith was suspended for the first game of this season following NCAA violations.

Zwick led Ohio State to a 34-14 victory over Miami (Ohio) at home this past Saturday and the Buckeyes cashed in as 15 1/2-point favorites. Zwick went 17-of-23 for 155 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

Smith now returns this week, but it is unclear how much time he`ll see on the field. Smith provides more of a dual threat for the Buckyes than Zwick and went 4-1 as the starter last year. He passed for 896 yards and rushed for 339 with eight TDs and three INTs. Zwick, meanwhile, went 4-3 as the starter and passed for 1209 yards while rushing for just 32. He had six touchdowns to six interceptions.

Playing anywhere other than your campus is a road game in my opinion. Ohio St. looks to be the play for me, which judging by last weekend, may be a good sign for Texas. :)

Anyone who has seen Zwick play consistently knows that Smith and then probably Boeckman are better options at QB. Highly regarded out of HS Zwick has done nothing to show he deserves to be on the field Saturday night. In the new spread-offense with Holmes, Ginn, Hall, Gonzalez and Hamby the Buckeyes could put Stanley Jackson under center and they would win games. His TD pass to Holmes was yet another "Wounded duck" which looked similar to his supposedly breakout game versus Marshall last year. Miami(OH) made a mistake blitzing early which cost them the TD and then playing zone which allowed Zwick to settle in and get his feet set. Already jumped on the Buckeyes this morning EVEN as line will move to 2-3 by Thursday.

i prefer the NFL,but i love big college games..

Especially in prime time..

Should be a goody..

Leaning toward the Buckeyes

Ohio State has won 36-consecutive non-conference games in Ohio Stadium, last losing a home tilt in 1990 against the University of Southern California.

Including the bowl win over Michigan, the Longhorns have won five-consecutive road games.

The Buckeyes have played under the lights 33 times in history. Ohio State is 25-8 overall, including bowl games, in games played at night. At Ohio Stadium, Ohio State is 6-0. The last night game played in Columbus was a 28-9 win against No. 17 Washington in the 2003 season opener (Aug. 30).

THE BUCKEYES VS. THE BIG 12
Ohio State has an all-time record of 27-3-1 against schools in the Big 12. The Buckeyes have played Big 12 opponents each of the past three seasons, downing Texas Tech (45-21) in 2002, Kansas State (35-28) in the 2004 Fiesta Bowl and Oklahoma State (33-7) in the 2004 Alamo Bowl.

Tressel is a master in close games. Since coming to Ohio State, he is 16-7 in games decided by a touchdown or less and 4-1 in overtime games.

He is at his best against the best with a 16-5 record against teams ranked in the Top 25 and a 6-1 mark against teams ranked in the Top 10.

How do you call the Michigan game a road game which was a neutral site, but you don't include the first shutout TX has received in 25 yrs at Dallas last year?

Vince Young, not "Vick"

Vince Young, not "Vick"

The styles of play in the Big 10 have not prepared Ohio State for a mobile quarterback like Vince Young and for those who continue to believe that his passing game is lacking are in for a big surprise.

Texas DC Gene Chizik will prepare for both Zwick and Smith and his defensive squad will do just fine against either one. Bear in mind that under Tressell, the Buckeyes have been outstatted in 24 of their 52 games.

Texas by 7.

Are you f'ing serious??? Really serious??? You think Stillwater is a tough place to play? I don't care if OU had lost 3 straight there, its not a tough place to play. OSU comes out to play OU like its the only game of the season, whether its at OU or at OSU, they play em harder than anyone else.

Just because someone loses at a stadium doesn't make it a tough place to play. A&M lost at Baylor last year, but I doubt anyone on the A&M team would say that Baylor and its 10,000 fans is a tough place to play. TX lost at Stanford a few years ago, was that a tough place to play? I doubt it.

Lincoln, Lubbock, Manhattan and Stillwater are not tough places to play compared to the shoe, its not even close.

NU averages about 75,000 per game, Tech is about 50,000, Kansas State < 50,000, Okie State is about 45,000 and Ohio State averages over 104,000

I wouldn't bet this game w/ somebody else's money.

Some games you bet, some you watch. This is one of the latter for me. Going to just sit back and enjoy it (while rooting for the Buckeyes).

Also, on tough places to play, had a friend tell me many years ago that playing in Lubbock was like playing in Russia. Strange things happen there. Definately a tough place for a ranked opponent.
