If you look at Mayweather when he started, I'm pretty sure he was at or very close to 106 - just like Pac Man. He has also risen through one weight class after another (how many belts?) just as Pac Man. And Mayweather is bigger now. I think that is a non issue. The hgh/etc is another and GW makes a great point about what that could do to boxing. Roach has been in the game for more than 20 years and has trained something like 25 or 26 belt holders. If this is his doing (and he would have to know) it doesn't appear to be a pattern with his fighters. Of course new things are always being discovered, but I would be inclined to give Manny the doubt strictly because of my respect for Roach.

If he has nothing to hide, he'd take the test. Losing 50 million $$$ because of superstition, fear of needles, or bullcrap about it makes him weak and takes him too long to recover are all just smoke. I just think the excuses are very weak to give up this kind of money.

Can you imagine if he did the testing and they found him positive. All of his previous fights then come into question and he'd instantly lose his status as well as any chance at a high political position in the Philippines.

I'd love for him to test and come back negative. Prove Mayweather and anyone who believes he's juiced wrong.

The thing is you can't presume guilt upon Pacquiao. Just because Floyd's crackhead father says he's juicing doesn't mean that some crazy unprecedented testing should be instituted. PAC is willing to give some concession on the issue - which he doesn't have to do - to placate MoneyMay. But there is no reason he should subject himself to unimpeded random testing. Things just don't work that way in the real world.

Exactly - Pac is being made by some to look like the bad guy when Mayweather is asking for something that has NEVER been done before.

Dude's giving up 50 million and the excuses given are funny to say the least. I'm not presuming guilt, but I wouldn't be surprised if the testing came back +. That's one bet I'd put the house on. Can those who think Pac's in the right here and think the test would come back negative say the same? Doubt it.

It just looks suspicious. If he's not juicing, submit to the testing and make Floyd look like the moron.

Alright, crazyhorses, how about this. Every time someone gets raped in your town, why don't you submit some DNA to prove you didn't do it. You know you're innocent, so just prove them wrong every time. Sound reasonable?

It would set an extremely bad precedent if Pacquaio were to submit to super commissioner Mayweathers's demands. Can you imagine if the testing was agreed to how damn hard it would be to make fights in the future.

The better commissions all have their own drug testing policies in place that the fighters follow. That is all that is necessary. And Pac is even willing to go beyond that -which he probably shouldn't do - but Mayweather's demands are off the charts unreasonable.

merry christmas.....

i just have to say, wouldn`t it make the case stronger to go though with the fight?...have a few cc`s of blood drawn a few times...shut everybody up...and walk away as the greatest fighter since henry armstrong?....

a lawsuit won`t change anybody`s opinion...

does manny need the money that badly?....

if you`re worried about your rep.,shut `em up...prove it...nobody`s asking manny to cut off a hand here...mayweather says he`ll take the same tests....

imo, this throws more gasoline on the fire...

who the hell is advising manny?...arum?...the captain of the titanic?...

bad move...

GW, I agree with most of what you say about this, however, the onus is definately on Floyd. Floyd's legacy is at stake here and not Manny's. Floyd is the self proclaimed P4P best so here's a smaller guy that most others claim is P4P. Manny has stepped up to the plate time and again. Floyd hasn't. I agree that Pac should shut everybody up and agree to the terms but he's the one in the drivers seat, not Floyd. Hopefully there will be some compromise. There is so much at stake here, that I think the fight will inevitably come off. Floyd NEEDS to fight Pac or PW or get the fvck out of town.

BTW, Fvck Arum for even suggesting Pac/Mags for the replacement fight. I'd rather watch old Barney episodes with my daughter than be subjected to that crap.

Merry Xmas Everybody :toast: :toast: :toast:

i totally disagree,respectfully...there are no questions about mayweather...he`s ready to go if manny puts the doping rumors to bed...he`s prepared to be tested himself....

the only people that mayweather has to prove anything to are the ones that hate him and think he`s the anti-christ.....and nothing he does will chnge their minds...

the questions that are being asked are about manny...not floyd...

if floyd holds to his guns and manny doesn`t agree to silence the rumors,,the fight never happens...and the questions about MANNY remain....

roach said previously that manny would undergo any tests to make the fight happen......apparently roach isn`t making the decisions...

Well you can say one thing. If Floyds goal is to get 3 million buys he is doing a good job of getting people to talk about this fight 3 months away..

I may be wrong, but aren't most of the drug tests in MLB, NBA, etc. done randomly? If so, why don't we suggest that Kobe and LeBron come out and be tested now - just to see if they are on something. And everytime either put up more than 30 in a game, test them then and there. After all, they certainly are a lot better than the rest of the NBA. There must be something wrong. And LeBron does have a big head. And where does it stop, should CC and Matsui have been tested after every game in the World Series? This isn't horse racing where it is mandatory to test the first 5 finishers every race. There is a protocol to the testing procedures in every sport. Who the flying "F" is Floyd Mayweather to demand that Manny submit to tests never before administered in their sport? Manny may well be dirty. But there are procedures in place that should be equitably followed by the commissions responsible, in this case, the Nevada State Athletic Commission. I wonder if the situation was reversed, would Floyd be yelling racism and prejudice? Would he be claiming this would never happen except that he is Black? The whole thing is preposterous and shouldn't even be a topic of discussion. But maybe we need to have the Colts tested in mass after every game because they are undefeated. Why didn't opposing teams demand that Barry Bonds be tested after every home run? Because there was a procedure in place that EVERYONE had to follow. Until the Nevada State Athletic Commission amends the rules, everyone should be treated likewise.

ferd...you know i love ya...but such an absurd analogy doesn`t serve your position well...

floyd feels that manny may be doping(and remember, floyd isn`t alone)...manny denies...floyd is vilified by many(jose canseco ring a bell?)......sound familiar?...

where are all the folks apologizing to canseco?....(sound of crickets)...

the majority don`t want this stuff seeing the light of day..that`s why testing isn`t as stringent as in the amateurs....too much money to be made....

who wants their cash cow turned into a sow`s ear?...

personally,i could care less if they fight...but,if floyd were my fighter,i`d demand the same thing...lebron and kobie aren`t trying to take one another`s head`s off...

i truly believe manny`s dirty...every dirty athlete(from marian jones to mcgwire)denied...

step up to the plate ,manny..just one time..get uber-rich and shut the mouths of all the critics forever...establishing yourself as the greatest since henry armstrong...

you`re superstitious about having a few cc`s of blood drawn?....millions of dollars superstitious?...your reputation isn`t that important ,you say?....it`s all about "superstition"?..yeah right....i say,bullshit...

just my opinion...

Pacquiao to file defamation lawsuit
Dec 25, 2009 9:45 PM EDT
SARANGANI, Philippines (AP)

Manny Pacquiao says he is planning to file a defamation lawsuit against Floyd Mayweather Jr., the fighter's father and Golden Boy Promotions.

In a statement posted Friday on his Web site, Pacquiao claims that his character has been damaged and tarnished by accusations he says are untrue.

"Enough is enough," Pacquiao said in the statement. "These people, Mayweather Sr., Jr., and Golden Boy Promotions, think it is a joke and a right to accuse someone wrongly of using steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs. I have tried to just brush it off as a mere pre-fight ploy but I think they have gone overboard."

The proposed megafight between Pacquiao and Mayweather is in danger because the sides have failed to find a compromise to a dispute over blood testing. Promoter Bob Arum declared the bout dead Thursday.

Arum had set a Thursday deadline for an agreement on testing, the only issue not resolved for the planned March 13 fight. But with the Mayweather camp still insisting on using the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency to conduct the tests, Arum said there wasn't much left to discuss.

"These people think they are doing the sport a great service. They are not," Pacquiao added. "To Floyd, despite all these accusations, may your Christmas be merry and I will see you in court, soon, too."

At the core of the dispute is the insistence of the Mayweather camp of using Olympic-style drug testing for the fight, even though both fighters have never been linked to any performance-enhancing substances. Under Nevada regulations, boxers are generally only tested just before the fight and in the dressing room afterward, and only urine is given.

"I have instructed my promoter, Bob Arum, head of Top Rank Inc., to help me out in the filing of the case as soon as possible because I have had people coming over to me now asking if I really take performance-enhancing drugs and I have cheated my way into becoming the No. 1 boxer in the world," Pacquiao said.

Mayweather's camp wants blood tests that can find things urine tests can't, such as use of human growth hormone, and they want them done by USADA from the time the fight is signed until the fight is held. Pacquiao's side has agreed to both urine and blood testing, but doesn't want testing immediately before the fight because Pacquiao believes giving blood so soon before a fight will weaken him.

Pacquiao's Web site states that Mayweather's camp is "asking too many unrealistic and unprecedented items on the bargaining table, including that of an Olympic-style drug testing."

"I maintain and assure everyone that I have not used any form or kind of steroids and that my way to the top is a result of hard work, hard work, hard work and a lot of blood spilled from my past battles in the ring, not outside of it," Pacquiao's statement said. "I have no idea what steroids look like, and my fear in God has kept me safe and victorious through all these years.

"Now, I say to Floyd Mayweather Jr., don't be a coward, and face me in the ring, mano-a-mano, and shut your big, pretty mouth, so we can show the world who is the true king of the ring."

now Manny wants to sue
