:mj07: Good one Eddie Baby!!! You ever try and picture in your mind what some of the posters look llke? Probably nothiing like we think but I've got this sneaking suspicion that your like this...."tub o' lard" . Huh? Am I wrong? Are we talking ex-athlete beer gut type of stuff with you, no biggie, or just plain ol fat boy, or are we talking fat legs, Jaba The Hut type of stuff. Come clean Hurricane cause I'm gonna be back here in a while after crawling back under that rock you spoke of.

Totally wrong. For what it's worth (im the dude in the middle)-http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=377478587

Workout everyday (former military), eat healthy, don't drink or smoke..you get the picture. Not that tub of lard you speak of.

With all these "people" you know in the business maybe you can be useful to some here in the forum. Best of luck to you and handicapping skills which i hope is better than your profiling ability (or inability, however you wish to describe it)

-----------------------------------------------------

To everyone else- As far as the fight goes. I like Hopkins to win a close one by decision setting up an immediate rematch. Not the biggest fan of Hopkins but he does have that ring saavy that most fighters dont have. Pavlik will look foolish in this fight at times because of his akwardness.

When better options dried out, Arum accepted Hopkins on a 50-50 split, Pavlik publicly didn't like it, but said he'll fight anyone put in front of him.

50-50 split ??

Hopkins gets as much as the champion, coming from a loss to boot ?

Are you 100% positive ?

It surprised me too, crow. It sounds as if Arum's hands were tied. But remember Pav-Taylor 2 did poor PPV buys. This was on fightnews.com at some point, I copied it off a forum post:

Pavlik vs Hopkins?
WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik could face former longtime niddleweight king Bernard Hopkins on October 18 at a 170lb catch weight. According to ESPN, Top Rank and Golden Boy have a deal for a 50/50 purse split, but there are still some details to be finalized. The site would be Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City and the bout will be a pay-per-view telecast. Pavlik previously fought at a 166lb catch weight in his second win over Jermain Taylor. Hopkins has been fighting at light heavyweight for his last three bouts.

Why not implement a "trash talk" forum? or if you have an issue with someone, discuss it in politics & religion?

See, told you trying to picture what someone looks like is never what you guess. I might get around to looking at your picture but I'll take your word for it. As for me, I'm a tub of lard. Hopkins pick is a ballsy one, just hard to imagine him throwing enough to get the job done.
Interesting the board is almost split on this one. Hops would have a shot in a 6 round fight.

Hey butthead, I mean "chomp", did you see the tomatoe can Lockett Pavlik just fought? Are you kidding me? That was a disgrace. Be advised "fella", I have been a fan of Kelly when some of his own family did'nt know who he was. Go back to 2002; I was there at the Orleans to see Pavlik fight. Did YOU know who the fuk he was back then? My partner and I just loved the guy and saw him rising to the top as he did. The second fight versus Taylor, Pavlik was'nt as agressive as Taylor was better prepared and this shit is TOUGH to do. This fight versus Hopkins is nothing but a stay active/make money affair. In all honesty, how many guys really LOVE this matchup and see it as a dramatic, competitive fight? Who would'nt REALLY want to see Pavlik/Calzaghe or Abraham or Kessler even. Have a nice day!

night janitor......franks didn`t initiate this...did you expect him to sit back and let this low mileage brain with 4 posts insult the hell out of him?...

i wish you`d been a tad more indignant about the insults after "buttchomp" initiated the shit-slinging.....

Don't get me wrong, it's clear what happened here, buttchomp saw the post as an attack on Pavlik's character, and rather than replying reasonably with a cool head, he made it personal. He had obviously been brewing over frank for a while and let it out today.

I respect frank s. as a person and capper, Im just saying slinging mud back and forth isn't going to help the situation. Couldn't these posts have been to moved to another forum, or deleted, long before it became a topic of conversation?

edit - and to frank's credit, his reply is reasonable, not more personal b.s.

OK men, I will bury the hatchet right now. You are all correct; it's better for all concerned if we keep it clean and above board. Maybe it's that I'm a purist and too old school for my own good. I WOULD like to see the best fighting the next best, but I guess I am somewhat delusional. Again I say I hope you guys figure out a way to make some money out of this matchup. I think I would only look at a round prop or even the dog, Hopkins, here. I think though Pavlik should come out on top without much difficulty. He just hits too freakin hard! GLTA.

Good grief Night just move on. How some of you get so offended is comical to me. What was hidden in his post was a lot of good info if it is true. The only problem i see with this guy is how well Thong will get along with him. Been a lot of ass references turning up as screen names lately.

http://www.cleveland.com/sports/index.ssf/2008/10/boxing_insider_pavlik_elbow_in.html

I'm not convinced Pavlik;s elbow is 100% which reduces the chance of a stoppage I was hoping for. Obviously Hopkins is going to be focused on Pav's right and if the left isn't there... damn.

As far as the malarkey with Frank.... I just started to get frustrated with someone just firing off at the mouth continuous untrue statements, purely guesswork and speculative. The guy goes and calls a bud of mine a hack and money hoar when it couldn't be further from the truth and I highly doubt he's ever spoken a word to him, so I got fed up and said something. Done...

Sponge, you don't think a lax policy discourages serious cappers from joining the forum? Do you notice on casual fan forums there is almost no serious betting talk? There's a reason for that. And also I noted and welcomed buttchomp for the insight in his post.

It doesn't matter now, it's all good. Regarding Pav's elbow injury, it's on his jab hand, which I think is worse than if it were on his power hand. He's intelligent enough to not go out there and try to bomb Hop away, you have to set it up for rounds with double, triple jabs. I'll have to watch it again to confirm, but my memory tells me he used jabs more frequently and as stand-alone power shots in the first Taylor fight, while in the second fight it was thrown out as only a set-up for his right hand, which was easier to foresee and as a result less effective.

I see Pavlik winning on activity, but it's a constant jab that controls the distance and wins it for him, not single bombs. If his elbow really is hurt and he can't maintain a high jab output, his options dwindle, and for a fighter with a fairly limited gameplan to start with, it's a big factor.

The article says it's a bruise; if that's the case, Kelly will be OK.
But if it's cartilage wear, like many old boxers have ( De la Hoya !!) due to repeated blows against the sandbag, and they are hiding it, Hopkins might make it interesting.

What i know from being on these type of sites is that if you win or have very knowledgeable cappers the people come and will never leave no matter what you say. No big deal lets move on :mj06:

I don't know why. Why did you bring it up twice now? Sounds like this post has to deal with other issues u seem to be having.

Buttchomp- I wanted to apologize for being a dick yesterday. Was in a bad mood and it wasnt cool.

The HBO countdown looked very good. I never knew about Hopkins going to the wrong corner so many times during the last fight. Maybe getting a little punch drunk?

OK chomp, just one more point of info and you can respond and have the last word. The Middle Weight Champ of the World, in what will be his last 3 fights, fights at 166lbs. versus Taylor II, the last at the limit of 160, now at 170. So in his last 3 fights defends the title ONCE! What, so we can see who's the best at all sort of bootleg limits; weight classes that don't exist? That's my point. Pavlik is a Top Rank boxer, and all Bob Arum is about is the money. Guys get influenced and so it goes. Has nothing to do with character; it's about economics. DONE.

No, no, my iniital post was admittedly a shade harsh and all you told me to do was crawl under a rock- that was pretty funny. And you took the tub of lard guess real well. This all was sort of a crack up... Frankie's replies have been good, getting a laugh out of me calling me chomp and butthead, a cartoon character I'm very fond of that I think gave me the idea for my username which I chose over buttmunch. Pretty funny knowledgeable crew here. Only thing that suprised me was that I seemed to get under Weasels skin a bit and he's always come off as this cool Hugh Heftner bathrobe wearing , relaxed pipe smoking guy in charge.
