I don't really collect anything per se, unless cellulite counts, but I do have several rosaries that I have accumulated over time from various destinations that I have traveled to with my Mom. Vatican City, all six major basilicas in Rome, Milan, Florence, Vienna, Paris, Old Jerusalem, Denmark, a few cities in Germany, London, Azores, Portugal, Spain, Greece, Crete, Malta and Yalta, Ireland, Scotland, Newfoundland, quite a few from Mexico, Central and South America, and some others I got domestically. All have been blessed at the church I got them from or at my local Catholic church. I was fortunate enough to have the one I got at St. Peters Basilica in Vatican City blessed by the Archbishop himself. That was quite cool. I don't collect them for myself now as I give all to my mother and she keeps them either at her house in Chicago or a safety deposit box. At present, they are for my Mom. She is a devout Catholic and goes to church everyday and says a rosary damn near every day. She really enjoys them and the fond memories they bring her of our many travels together. She is also 73 and stricken with a slowly debilitating and ultimately terminal disease called CREST and I realize she won't be around forever. Though the dreaded day will surely come when they will be kept with me, I know they will provide me with lasting reminders of some of my most precious memories.

I also have a small collection of WWII memorabilia that my ex-wife's father gave me. Photos of him liberating Dachau, an SS arm band, Nazi staff car flags, letters home, and some other things. All very cool stuff. I don't know why she didn't want it. Then again, she's a woman so she never knows what she wants from one moment to the next.

Hope this helps,
FDC

That is a wonderful thing to collect; and your mother surely thinks so too. What a neat story. I'm sorry to hear about her disease, I've never heard of Crest, but it sounds awful.. and I can't imagine that.

WWII memorabilia is more of a "man" thing, although you're right... women never know exactly what they want..I can understand why she'd leave em with ya...

Thanks for sharing, FDC :0074

vintage watches and art.

My boss loves watches too.. I can't even count how many he has.. He once had me pick him up a Breitling for like 15 thousand dollars.. I couldn't believe it, since that kind of money would have paid my mortgage over a year... but then again, to each their own ;)

If I had money, I think I'd like to collect art as well.. but since I'm not- I'll have to settle for my husband's college art class masterpieces...(a self portrait that looks more like Jackie Chan than himself..) no offense, Sean.. i love it ;)

Alright-logged in to the correct account :D

Coins are awesome too, I thought about collecting those (like the state quarters and such) but I'm afraid I'd break into the loot, and spend em on a rainy day-haha
If ya don't mind my asking, how much does a coin like that cost ya?

Its actually .2354oz of gold and about the size of a nickel. The cost fluctuates of course with the price of gold. Have not bought any gold coins in several months but snagged this one on the recent dip as I have been wanting one of these for my collection and have been waiting on the right price. To me its a way to preserve wealth for my kids. Fun to boot.

Lately.....I've been collecting miles on my car. The back and forth to Atlanta has been nuts. In a hotel now in Atlanta. All our stuff gets delivered tomorrow morning. Can't wait to have a new home and give up in my collection of mileage.

You can convert those miles into kilometers for a much larger collection. :0003
