well, lets give it a whirl...I know your time is extremely valuable...
of course it was covered...but in the interim the story basically died(I would say that it never reached the level of anything "sam" related or even the redskins renaming clusterfuck)...there was a substantial period of time between the incident and goodell`s decision...and a relatively(and suspiciously) long period of time between the legal verdict and goodell`s determination...does the league put these kinds of conduct related decisions off in hopes that the stories will fade even farther out of public consciousness?...who knows...I wouldn`t be a bit surprised(of course they`ll make excuses about" investigative process" and "pre/post-trial intervention programs" yada yada, but imo, theres a certain amount of subterfuge involved).....
fact is there was nowhere near the sustained howling and gnashing of teeth seen in the media regarding the sam/ inappropriate gay comments(or even the redskin name fiasco)issues... .... rice`s legal decision was reached on may 20th(over two months ago)....decisions on the gay comments issues were rendered swiftly and decisively(we`re at the point now that any "perceived" negative comment gets immediate response and demand for retraction and clarification...even dungy`s honest and harmless opinion...or you`ll be hounded until you`re sufficiently contrite) ....we even had government intervention on the redskins name debacle(not the nfl`s doing, but intense media scrutiny certainly played a part).....maybe domestic violence doesn`t rise to the intolerance threshold of insensitive comments or offensive team names ?....well,i`ll defer to you on that(being that you`re the tourqemada of online p.c. hysteria around here) ....
my opinion is it`s because of intense and sustained media involvement(or lack thereof..the squeaky wheel gets the most grease)....intense and sustained media involvement not seen in the rice case(for the short bus riders, let`s just call it media driven bad p..r)...we all understand that most league suspensions undergo a long and drawn out investigative process(some probably necessary, some probably not)...we also understand that some suspensions are swift and definitive...
at the end of the day,i would think that battering your significant other and dragging her around like a cavemen would generate a higher level of indignation and response than name calling/insensitive comments(or even chooming).......one would surmise that ole roger would realize that some blowback was inevitable from such a tepid sanction(even though the situation never quite garnered the level of media attention and outrage that speech and team labeling slights incite)......... I guess you`ll have to browbeat goodell on the rationale for that misevaluation...
your dude:
weasie...
p.s...I`m guessing that a resumption of positive reputation points and comments isn`t in the cards?.....
much love........:toast:
Well done, you exceeded my expectations and really gave that thesaurus a workout. :0074
