One shooting game that was bitch to play through was Aerosmith arcade game Revolution X.

I used to be an arcade manager in mid 90's and played enough of arcade games/pinballs and i still don't have xbox/playstation or pc-games... most of the new games are just boring with nice graphics.
Last pc-game i played through was Hidden&Dangerous:

Was it Ghost&Goblins where you were able to connect several machines each four players ? We also had some tank/mech game that was connected to several arcades through our own net. Too much ahead of it's time...
When Sega hit arcade markets with their Nascar, Rally and VF1 it was downhill from there, no story line or actual playing of a game, more like coin after coin to repeat something all over.
